NOW IS THE TIME TO FILL OUT YOUR CENSUS FORM Due to COVID-19, we were unable to have mobile Census stations to assist residents in completing their census forms. For those unable to fill out their census forms by visiting https://my2020census.gov/ or calling 844-330-2020, a paper form will be mailed to your house in the upcoming weeks. Census takers will be going door to door of those homes that have not responded from May 28-August 14. Other Census field operations will be conducted in group quarters and service base institutions beginning in May.

The first Census was completed in 1790. The Constitutional basis for conducting the decennial census is to reapportion the U.S. House of Representatives. Illinois lost 1 congressional seat in 2010 and is at risk of losing another due to declining population per Census data. Census data is used when deciding where 675 BILLION dollars in federal funding is allocated. In Boone County, approximately $1,535 in funding is received per person per year. Based on the non responsive rate during the 2010 Census, it is estimated that Boone County has lost $141,343,568 in funding over the last decade. Wondering what programs are funded? Programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, Headstart, WIC, Heath Care Centers, Unemployment Insurance Administration and Special Programs for the Aging are just a few.
