These elected politicians swill from the same trough, however; they are the only ones guzzling from it while their constituents thirst to be heard & represented. A city cannot be successful with a Mayor who touts himself & favors special interest friends but doesn’t connect with the most important asset in our community, the PEOPLE! From what I read & see, our current Mayor is the definition of a politician. He fails to recognize he was hired by the people of this city, entrusted to represent the hardworking taxpayers of Belvidere. However, he remains disconnected from the City & chooses an alliance with outsider special interest friends, writing his agenda & filling his coffers with campaign contributions. Should we need validation, one need only follow the money & backers to reveal these “friends” first hand.

A person who has self-funded his campaign because he believes in the city he lives in & knows it deserves so much better. A true Civil servant with incredible intellect, integrity, character, high morals, strong work ethic, & leadership who’s ready to work for the people of Belvidere. That person is Clint Morris & he has lived in this community for over 50 years. He attended & graduated from the Belvidere school system, his 2 children attended & graduated from the Belvidere school district & his grandchildren are attending Belvidere schools. For 2+ decades, Clint Morris volunteered his time through the Belvidere YMCA, coaching youth basketball & flag football. Similarly, he volunteered through BYB, coaching several levels of youth baseball. He not only coached but was an outstanding role model to all. I know this first hand, as Clint not only raised me but coached me, too. As I became a young adult, I was extremely fortunate & honored to volunteer & coach beside him. You see it wasn’t about winning & losing, it was truly about teaching, motivating, encouraging & developing kids to be the best they could be. The lessons he instilled in me, as a person & athlete, molded me into a responsible young man who learned early in life how important it is to give back to your community. Clint worked locally for Commonwealth Edison & dedicated 30+ years providing best in class support to ensure the needs of all customers were met with a daily objective of restoring power to the people. Clint represented the City of Belvidere for 12 years as Alderman of the people, basing decisions on listening to the people, gaining all the facts, understanding the law & legal implications & casting his vote with the best interests of the community & taxpayers in mind. At times, this may not have been popular, but being popular wasn’t what was at stake. Clint Morris identifies & understands the issues that face this community as he has listened to the people who are impacted by the “politics” of the current administration. Unlike some, Clint Morris will NEVER sell out this city for personal gain or to a select few who look to cash checks written by Belvidere taxpayers, then move on to the next money machine grab, saddling existing Belvidere residents with the long term tax burden.

In closing, there are some people who want you to believe all is well & you merely need to ask “Dave”, “Joe”, “Jeff” or “Karl” & they will confirm “it”. I would ask a better question: What have any of those folks done for Belvidere taxpayers?? The logical way to figure out the best qualified servant to represent small business & the people of Belvidere is to get the candidates together to talk about their record & have constructive debates. As taxpayers, isn’t this something we deserve? Clint Morris welcomes many public debates to discuss the vision of Belvidere because he is committed to all taxpayers, keeping our best interests in mind. He has a vision, many initiatives & a road map designed to make Belvidere a better place for both businesses & citizens. More importantly he has the intellect, acumen & backbone to get them done! I’m certain our current Mayor would welcome these same forums to take ownership of & discuss his political record with the taxpayers of Belvidere. On April 6th, we have a choice. I will be honored to cast my vote for my brother, Clint Morris, & humbly ask for your support in doing the same. You don’t have to settle for “like,” together we can love & embrace the change!
