Bach, MD, Rockford Health Systems, the Boone County Council on Aging is hosting Memory Café meetings at The Steam Plant Restaurant in Belvidere. The purpose of the Memory Cafe is to provide knowledge, understanding and education about memory loss in a relaxed atmosphere. The meeting will be held in the meeting room at The Steam Plant Restaurant. Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is Tuesday, March 21st, at 6:00 PM. David Norman Hammer, 69, of Belvidere, IL passed away February 18, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. The son of Ole and Jean (Spencer) Hammer, he was born December 17, 1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. David served in the United States Army in Vietnam from October of 1966 to August of 1968. David married the love of his life, Cynthia Cormie on November 8, 1969 in Belvidere, IL. He was a Barber, Belvidere City Fireman, Real Estate Broker, Home Builder, Investor, and the Owner of Hammertime Sports with his son Spencer. David was a member of Vietnam Veterans Honor Society - LZ Smoke Brothers. Nicknamed “Sergeant Hotel”, he loved the support and friendship with his brothers. At the age of 30 he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He was a member at Heartland Community Church. He loved guns, hot rods, Fox News, but most of all his family. He was a loving, caring Husband, Father & Papa and will be dearly missed.
