Dr. Michael J. G Cheerleaders Compete in State Finals The North Boone Varsity Cheerleading Team had an incredible year. They were the first North Boone Cheerleading Team to make it to state. They finally made their dreams a reality and qualified for state after placing 5th at Sectionals. The squad pushed through countless injuries, made every minute at practice count and continued to improve every single competition. We believe this is just the beginning for North Boone Cheerleading. The program which is coached by Krystal Jole and Kim Crull, continues to grow and strengthen every single year!
The North Boone Varsity Competition Cheerleading Team consists of 12 girls. Seniors, Katie Kilburn (Captain), Ashlie Grooms and Emma Marx. Junior, Marina Montemayor. Sophomores, Alyssa Anderson, Kerry Kilburn, Kylie Nelson, Alexis Seabaugh, and Hannah Underwood. Freshmen, Emma Blasinski, Indanasha Druce Jones and Jenna Shattuck. MaryIta Burke, Abby Hopkins and Angie Loeding were team alternates. The squad competed in 5 competitions prior to Sectionals. They placed 1st at the Crystal Lake Central Invitation and the Huntley Sweetheart Competition. They received 3rd place at the NIU Huskie Challenge, NIC-10 & Big Northern Conference Cheerleading Championship and the Belvidere Bucs Winter Cheer Classic. North Boone placed 5th with their highest score of the year at the IHSA Cheer Sectional at Belvidere High School earning them a state qualifying position. The squad competed at the IHSA Competitive Cheer State Finals in Bloomington on February 3rd, placing 13th out of 25 teams.
Pre-School Screenings Preschool screenings are being held monthly at Capron Elementary School. Screenings are needed for any child to enter the preschool program for the 2017-2018 school year. For questions or to schedule a screening, please call Capron Elementary School at 815-569-2314. Manchester Focus on Reading This year they have instituted some new programs to help our students improve in their reading and math abilities. The entire school participates in a once per month Drop Everything And Read (DEAR). During DEAR, younger students are paired up with older students for some cross grade level mentoring. The older students model good reading for the younger students, and the younger students have the opportunity to practice reading fluency with a friend. Bella, the therapy dog and her human, Jim McQuinn, stop by two Mondays per month to support some of our students with reading as well. The more opportunities we have to read the better, and we will be continuing to incorporate new programs and incentives to encourage our students to read.

eenlee - Superintendent 100 Days of School Celebrated Students at Capron celebrated our 100th Day of School on January 27th. Many students came to school dressed as 100-year-olds. Students participated in 100-day themed projects and activities. One activity was the 2nd graders writing about what they will be when they are 100. It was fun to read their perspectives and to see the computer generation of their faces as 100-year-olds.
Booster Club Members THE NORTH BOONE BOOSTER CLUB NEEDS YOU! The Booster Club supports not only our Sports Programs, but also Music, Drama, FFA, and all other Clubs and Student Organizations at North Boone High School. KDG Registration Kindergarten registration for 2017-18 is scheduled during Parent/Teacher Conferences on February 15th & 16th from 4:00 - 7:30 pm at each Elementary School. Below is the info for registering your kindergartner.
To attend kindergarten, students must be five years of age or older on or before September 1. This early registration process gives parents information to ease the transition into kindergarten and assists the District in planning for enrollment growth and staffing needs. Please take advantage of this opportunity to register your child! To participate in Kindergarten registration, parents should first fill out a registration form with basic information regarding their child. This document should be completed, printed from the district website at (www.nbcusd.org) and brought to the school. Completing these forms in advance will expedite the process at the school. There will also be copies at the school. Parents will be asked to present the following original documents, as well as copies of the following documents, to finalize the registration process. Please bring these documents with you to the school. Certified Copy of Birth Certificate Social Security Card Immunization Records Proof of Residency Registration Fees Parents should allow approximately 45 minutes to an hour to complete the registration process, though the amount of time could vary depending upon the number of students being registered. Information about Kindergarten Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, school supply lists and additional pertinent information about your child’s school will be shared. Please refer to the district website for additional school registration information.

North Boone Puts Plan in Place to Address Building Needs In the Fall of 2015, the North Boone School District began Strategic Planning as well as Ten Year Life Safety Planning to address the needs and refurbish all of the buildings in the North Boone School District. The School Board has dedicated the money that is raised from the sales tax revenue towards the upgrades. In the summer of 2016 the major projects that were addressed were roofing repairs at North Boone Middle School and North Boone Upper Elementary School. Masonary repairs were completed at Manchester and the Middle School. Concrete repairs were made at Capron Elementary School and also North Boone High School. This summer, more roofing repairs will take place on the Gym at the Middle School. Each year, approximately $350,000 is directed towards the repairs and improvements at each building.
