My La Marina with Sam Beauchamp from PC Wizard Tell us a bit about your background. Where are you from originally?
I grew up in Hampshire in the south of England, living in places like Hayling Island, Waterlooville, and Fareham. I have fantastic memories of my childhood there. Tech and how things work have always fascinated me, so at 16, I attended CEMAST engineering college in Lee-on-the-Solent, studying for two and a half years to earn my engineering qualifications. That background led to an apprenticeship with a company manufacturing industrial heating and cooling systems, which was incredible for building a practical, hands-on technical foundation early on. What brought you to Spain, and how did you get started here?
I moved out to Spain with my parents and brother when I was 18. I’ll admit I was a little sceptical at first, but I wanted to give it a real try. Luckily, I settled into the Spanish way of life quickly. Starting out, I explored a few different fields to get my bearings, working in swimming pool maintenance and artificial grass installation. Eventually, I landed a role with a local tech company, and everything clicked. It kept my mind sharp, matched my engineering background, and was ideal work during the intense summer heat! I fell in love with the work, but I always had an entrepreneurial drive. With the unbelievable encouragement and support of my parents - who have always been there for me - I took the leap and built my own business from the ground up: PC Wizard. Where are you based now, and what does life look like today?
I’m currently living near Albatera, which is a beautiful area to call home. Running PC Wizard full- time keeps me busy helping residents and businesses in the local and surrounding areas with all their IT and computer support needs. In fact, I´m very happy to say that I have a lot of customers in La Marina!...a place I always enjoy working
in! When I’m not working, I’m fully enjoying life with family and great friends. We love heading out to explore nearby places like Murcia, Alicante, Elche, and Torrevieja. The sense of community here is fantastic, and the people make it a truly special place to live and work. What are your favourite things about the Spanish lifestyle? Spain has so much to offer. The scenery is stunning, and there’s always something happening in the local towns, especially during fiesta season. I’m also a big fan of the food culture - you can’t beat a authentic local paella or a fresh Spanish tortilla! I love trying new activities, exploring the region, and embracing the culture every chance I get. What does the future hold for you and PC Wizard?
The future looks bright, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. Spain is definitely home now. My goal is to keep growing PC Wizard into the go-to IT support service for our local community. I’ve always been a hard worker, and as the business expands, my ultimate goal is to give back to my parents and help support them into a well-deserved retirement for everything they’ve done for me. THE WRITING GROUP Freedom?
By Paddy Christie As free as bird, the old proverb goes but what is real freedom, only God knows. We live in a world with restrictions and norms with barriers we see and unseen thorns. A measure of freedom is all we desire away from oppression, cruelty and fire. To choose and to do just ordinary things, without suffering consequences, painful stings. Where we are born, can determine our fate, In luxury, poverty or even real hate.
The Writing Group is a friendly mix of local creatives who meet every second Tuesday at 11am in The Palm Tree Bar, La Marina, to share ideas, write for fun, and enjoy supportive, relaxed company. For more info, email Paddy at paddychristie7@gmail.com or call/ whatsapp him on 634 343 956
With so many tyrants making their people’s lives hell their subjects compelled to live under their shell. Then there is still slavery in our modern age cheap slave labour, no decent wage. ‘tis not only happening in places afar, ‘tis right here among us in most every bar. On our TV screens we watch with shock, news of “human trafficking” around every rock. We shiver and cringe and pretend it’s not true, but, ask the young girl, the short straw she drew. Now treasure your freedom, the little you’ve got, remember that so many others have not. Spare a thought for those less fortunate than you, when choosing a purchase, yes even a shoe.
TRANSPORT By Janet
Beam me up Scottie, I long to say Transport me, to a universe, far away To follow the stars, flying through the skies Reach up, to moonbeams, shining bright in my eyes The wonders of earth, I’ll see from above Suspended in space, I’ll soar like a dove I’ll see mountains, forests, rivers and seas A world full of mysteries, beneath my feet I see craters, and shapes all over the moon Darkness and light, throwing shadows of gloom Do aliens live there, I wonder out loud Flying saucers to earth, sent out to scout For habitation, just like theirs Are we the aliens, the unknown race All imagination, so we are told Too many rumours, not to uphold People over the world, surely can’t be wrong Sightings been seen, since time begun Till I see it myself, it wont be a trouble I’m happy to stay, in my own little bubble Those boffin’s in charge don’t want us to know Things that will happen, or our power will grow So just keep watching, those skies above for a UFO, pray it comes in love

STUDIO32 ARE SET TO PERFORM FOR THE COSTA BLANCA REGION ONCE AGAIN When the curtain fell at the closing performance and nightly standing ovations at Studio32´s last musical theatre production ´Dolly Parton´s 9to5´, the audience were immediately requesting details and tickets for the next production. The reviews on social media were absolutely wonderful and greatly appreciated by every member of Studio32 who put an incredible amount of time and effort into perfecting every angle of every performance. Once again, this has encouraged new members to join us alongside our well established cast. In particular, watch out for our talented teenagers whose acting and singing is so professional. Soul Notes by Nicola Dunsford Hello Amazing Soul, As summer gently gives way to autumn, nature begins its quiet process of letting go. Leaves will soon fall, creating space for new growth in the seasons ahead. We are invited to do the same. September offers an opportunity to release emotional burdens, soften old wounds, and make room for greater peace. Forgiveness is often misunderstood. It does not mean forgetting what happened, excusing hurtful behaviour, or allowing unhealthy patterns to continue. Instead, forgiveness is a gift we offer ourselves. It is the gentle decision to stop carrying the weight of yesterday so we can live more freely today. The Energy We Carry Every experience leaves an energetic imprint. Joy expands us, while unresolved hurt, resentment, or disappointment can create heaviness within our mind, body, and soul. Holding onto painful experiences often drains our energy without us realising it. We replay old conversations, revisit past events, or carry emotions that no longer belong in our present. Forgiveness allows that energy to move again. It creates space where healing can begin. Beginning with Yourself One of the hardest forms of forgiveness is self-forgiveness. Many of us carry regrets, judge past decisions, or believe we should have known better. Yet every experience has shaped the person we are becoming. Ask yourself gently: • •
What am I still holding against myself? What lesson has this experience given me?
THE ENERGY OF FORGIVENESS Releasing What No Longer Serves You •
Am I ready to release self-judgement with compassion?
Healing begins when we replace criticism with kindness. 1. 2. 3.
4.
5. 6.
A Gentle Practice of Release Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Close your eyes and take several slow breaths. Imagine holding a heavy stone that represents whatever you are ready to release. Notice its weight without judging it. When you feel ready, imagine placing the stone beside a flowing stream. Watch as the water slowly carries it away. As it disappears from view, quietly say: “I honour my journey. I release what no longer serves me. I choose peace.” Allow yourself a few moments of stillness before opening your eyes.
Making Space for New Energy Every act of forgiveness creates space for something new. As resentment softens, compassion grows. As old hurts begin to heal, joy has room to return. Forgiveness does not change the past, but it transforms the energy you carry into the future. Closing Reflection Forgiveness is not a single moment but a gentle unfolding. Some days it comes easily; other days it asks for patience and grace. Trust that every small step lightens the heart and frees the soul. As autumn approaches, may you release what weighs you down, embrace the wisdom each experience has brought, and move forward with greater peace, compassion, and freedom. Wishing you a September filled with healing, gentle release, and renewed inner peace. Namaste

TICK INFESTATION This year we have seen some news about an increased environmental number of ticks, specially in August. Valencian agricultors are warning about the appearing of lots of ticks at the coutryside. They blame the uprising wildlife (mostly rabbits and wild boars) and the fact that there are more and more idle fields. Of course, its true that animals and grass are the two things ticks need for their life cycle. Ticks live at vegetated soil or where wood is. You cannot find ticks at tarmac or concrete, or at the beach. They must live in places with grass or bushes, or at cultured areas, which also implies public parks and gardens at the cities, vegetable gardens and mountains at the countryside, and also wooden cabins and firewood storages. Ticks suck animals (and humans) blood. They spend long periods hidden between the leaves of the plants waiting for a host, and when they feel it´s approaching, they jump on it and grab its fur (or clothes). After this, little by little they search for the best place for biting the host and start sucking its blood. They prefer areas with thin skin, difficult access, and lots of blood vessels: between the toes and earlobe crease are the typical zones.
tick saliva may also contain several vectorborne parasites, viruses and bacteria. According to statistics, it´s quite uncommon at this area (eastern Spain) ticks transmitting serious diseases, but uncommon doesn´t mean impossible. If we are bitten by a tick we can go to the nearest Centro de Salud to get some help for getting rid of it. We must inform our family doctor we have been bitten, because some of these vector-borne diseases take several weeks after the bite to start showing symptoms, so the day of the bite is too early to test the blood. It´s very important to remind the symptoms of some vector-borne diseases are very similar to autoimmune diseases, so if we inform the doctor when symptoms appear we have been bitten several weeks ago, it will take it much shorter to stablish a right diagnosis.
USEFUL GUIDES Guide to Taking Action in the Event of a Tick Bite
Animals who spend most of the day cleaning themselves, such as cats, are able to eliminate ticks very easily, so it´s uncommon to see ticks in a healthy cat. Hedgehogs are usually full of them. When a tick arrives to its chosen place, it bites the skin with its special mouth and it remains there for several days. When its stomach is full of blood, it gets released for the skin and falls on the floor for starting the digestion, which will last gor several days. Ticks saliva contains an anaesthetic and an anticoagulant, so the host cannot feel the bite and blood flows easily. Unfortunately,

Roll out the pastry on a floured surface and cut it in half lengthwise into two long strips. Shape the sausage meat into long logs and place them down the middle of each pastry strip. Brush the long edge of the pastry with the beaten egg. Roll the pastry tightly around the meat and press down to seal the seam. Cut the rolls into smaller pieces and place seam side down in the baking tray. Brush the tops with the rest of the egg and score the top of each roll, from side to side, with a knife.
