HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 29 SEPTEMBER 2023

A note from the Head…

Social media – X

On Tuesday it was the European Day of Languages and this has been the theme for various activities this week. Former Bolton School pupil Lizzie Crowther joined us for an assembly and spoke to the girls about the importance of learning a language and her travels to different parts of the world. The girls were fascinated to hear her stories, but equally excited to find out that she was in Year 3 when the Hesketh House building first opened!

Please follow us @BSPDJnrGirls. You may also be interested in following @BSPDMFL (particularly this week!) and @BoltonSch for more general Bolton School news.

Our own specialist language teacher Miss Eccleshare has been chatting with her classes and discovering more about all the amazing languages spoken in our school and at home, and how this makes us diverse and vibrant. We also talked about other ways in which we are all different and in celebration of this, we sang a special song written by Miss Eccleshare in Spanish and British Sign Language called 'Somos Diferentes'. Have a look on X to listen to our incredible singing!

If you need to contact School, the Hesketh House Office telephone number is 01204 434761 or you can email juniorgirls@boltonschool.org. Please make sure that you include your child’s name and form in any email communication, as this enables us to deal with queries more efficiently. Finally, a reminder that the girls will all be having their individual school photographs taken next Tuesday. Please make sure that they are looking particularly smart! Mrs C Laverick

Pupil Achievements

Once again, the girls have shared a range of successes with us this week. We had presentations, certificates and trophies for achievements in music, LAMDA, football, swimming and Ju-Jitsu. Worth a special mention is Safaa Seedat, who told us about a fishing match she took part in. She was the youngest in the competition, finishing in a fabulous 13th place out of 35 anglers, and was awarded a super prize for her efforts – her very own fishing rod and net! Black History Month Competition Thank you to all of the girls who designed a poster for this competition. These are going on display on Saturday 30 September from 1.00pm – 4.00pm at Bolton Central Library, temporarily located in Crompton Place. Please see further information from the Bolton Black History Group here.
