HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 19 MAY 2023 A note from the Head…

Eco-Club Recycling Trip Friday 16 May

It has been a quiet week around school, with the Year 6 girls and several staff away at Patterdale Hall. They have had a lovely trip; hopefully you have caught up with all their activities on Twitter. Year 4 and Year 5 are looking forward to their visits next week and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the nice weather continues! In school, Year 4 and Year 5 girls have enjoyed taking part in their House swimming galas this week. Year 3 and Year 6 will have these next week, with overall results being announced after half term. Year 6 also have a Careers Carousel to look forward to, which I am sure they will find very interesting and informative. Mrs C Laverick Pupil Achievements Congratulations to Taliah Dean, Hattie Drake Beatrix Snape and Bronwen Soper who helped their lacrosse team, the Boardman Bears, to win the National U11 Lacrosse Tournament last weekend, a fantastic achievement. Well done to these girls, and their team mates too of course! Maya Patel played in her first cricket match for Lancashire County Cricket Club U11 Girls this week, against Cheshire. Maya had an outstanding debut performance; retiring not out after scoring 21 runs, taking 3 wickets and 1 run out. Her team went on to win. Well played Maya! Finally, congratulations to Anika Shetty, who has passed her Grade 2 Piano with Distinction. Super!

The Eco Club enjoyed a visit to Recycle 4 Greater Manchester at the end of last week. The session began in the classroom where the children learnt about the importance of placing the correct items in the different coloured bins. The highlight of the visit was a trip around the working site to see first hand how the rubbish from the burgundy bins is sorted, so that it can be recycled elsewhere. Are you putting the right things in the right bin?

The girls have also been busy planting potatoes this week, which we hope they will get to sample before the end of term.
