What an amazing first half term! In all my years of teaching, I have never experienced such a busy, thriving environment. The range of opportunities which have been available to the boys are a testament to the hard work our team of staff puts in each and every day. I would like to thank all of our staff for their endeavours over a very busy seven weeks. For some of our Year 6 boys and a few Year 5 boys, the term has not quite ended, as we head to York for three days and two nights next week. The boys will be treated to a range of experiences and activities including trips to York Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, chocolate factories, Forbidden Corner and more. On 18th November, there will be a breakfast and presentation for the parents of boys who attended this trip so drop it in your calendar now! The term is not quite over yet. On Friday afternoon, we will be heading to the Levels at Senior School for our annual House Cross Country fixture. We expect to see the boys show great determination, perseverance and, above all, great kindness and sportsmanship. The races will take place at 2.00pm for Years 3 and 4 and then at 2.30 pm for Years 5 and 6. Parents are welcome to spectate. When the races have finished, boys and staff will head back to Park Road to change and assemble in the Hall for the presentation of the House cups. Parents are then invited back to Park Road, where our PA will be serving tea, coffee and homemade cakes in the Dining Room and there will also be the chance to snap up bargains at our (pre-loved) uniform sale. Parental access to school will be via West Street, the playground and the entrance adjacent to the Dining Room.
Please note that we currently have spare capacity on most of our coach routes. If your son does not currently travel to school on the coach, but you are considering this as an option, please contact the Finance Office directly for further information. To round off the final newsletter of the half term, I would like to thank the staff, parents and children for welcoming me to the school. It has been a busy seven weeks but everybody has shown kindness and support and it has been a lot of fun! I wish everyone a lovely holiday and safe travels to those travelling near and far.
