Bolton School Primary Division Junior Boys’ School Summer Term, 2024 - WEEK A

Wednesday 19th June Swim Development, 4-5pm Year 3 Concert, PR Hall, 4.30pm Cubs 6.30-7.45 pm

It looks like the weather is going to be great for this weekend’s Summer Festival. There is still time to buy your tickets and also to enter the competitions which will take place. The event itself will take place on Sunday 23rd June from 12 - 4pm. Included in the ticket price will be inflatable fun and games suitable for everyone – there are five separate zones containing many different types of inflatables and activities, and covering all ages. Group tickets for 4 people are discounted, so why not bring friends and family along to take part in the event, set in the grounds of our beautiful and iconic school!

Thursday 20th June assemblies this week we have been talking to the boys about transitions, in preparation for our moving up Y6 Tech Rehearsal, am Inmorning which will be held next Tuesday, 25th June. The boys currently in Year 6 will be spending the day at Senior School getting to know the boys in their new form, as well as their new form teacher and a little about Y3 Outdoor what to expect in September. They should arrive at Park Road as normal in the morning and leave from Park Theatre,11am Road at the end of the day, we will make sure they get to the right place, at the right time. For all other boys, they will be enjoying some time with their new forms in the morning. Water Polo fixture, St. Ambrose, return 4pm As we think about next year, it is important to let you know of a few staff changes. As you are already aware, Mr Duxbury will be retiring at the end of this year after a long and productive career at Bolton School, which is, of course, his second career after all! Also leaving us at the end of this year will be Mr Winstanley, who has LAMDA, 4 pm accepted the role of DT and Technology Integration Teacher at International School of Stavanger in Norway. We wish both Mr Duxbury and Mr Winstanley the very best for the future and will see them off in style at the end of Jujitsu, 4 pm term. Mrs Howarth has been so inspired by her time supporting the boys’ learning in their DT lessons that she is to be spending next year training as a DT teacher at Manchester Metropolitan University, we also wish her Sailing Club, 4-6pm going the very best of luck. Cubs 6.30-7.45 pm Friday 21stJune LAMDA exams, all day Y3 Egyptian Workshops, Bolton Museum, all day U11 Cricket, NULS, return 5.30pm Fencing 4-5 pm Hockey 4-5pm Water Polo, 4-5pm

These departures mean that there will be a few new staff joining us. These include Mr Ryan Speed who will be teaching in Years 5 and 6 mainly, Miss Amber Brockbank who will be teaching Year 3, Mr Chris Walker, currently Boys’ Division DT teacher will be joining us part time to teach DT and Mrs Shannen Cahill will be a part time class teacher.

As you know, Miss Fletcher will be going on maternity leave during the new academic year, so Mrs Brisk is stepping into the Deputy Head role in her absence and Miss Emma Gregson will be joining us from Hesketh House as Senior Teacher with responsibility for Teaching and Learning. Mr Minta will be taking on the role of Extra-curricular and Enrichment Coordinator. The form teacher teams for next year will be: Year 3

3A Miss Brockbank, 3B Mrs Hough

Year 4

4A Mrs Gould, 4B Mrs Clarke

Year 5

5A Mr Speed, 5B Mr Price, 5C Mr Minta. Mr Hough will support across the three classes.

Year 6

6A Mr Porter, 6B Miss Gregson, 6C Mr Livesley. Mr Grieve will support across the three classes.

The current 3A will go to 4A, 3B will move to 4B, 5A become 6A, 5B become 6B and 5C move to 6C. The current Year 4 children will be split into three Year 5 classes and their new form group and teacher has been shared with the boys this afternoon.
