Autumn Term, 2022 — WEEK B
From Mr. King We are in the middle of yet another jam-packed week at Park Road! Already, we’ve seen three sports fixtures, one guest speaker, Hello Yellow day, a virtual visit from actor, comedian and author Lenny Henry AND an amazing Harvest Assembly. We still have another cross country fixture this afternoon, as well as a trip to the theatre for some of our boys on Friday night.

Our annual Foundation Open Morning saw plenty of families visit our part of school and they were all complimentary about Park Road. On Saturday, I spoke of the busy nature of the school and how the opportunities we provide for the boys keep them engaged, develop skills, passions and personal attributes. At this point, I would like to thank all of our community for preparing the school but in particular, I would like to single out our Year 5 boys who: demonstrated musical talents; took part in Cub activities; displayed their sporting prowess and took over fifty families on tours of Park Road. The Year 5 boys were exceptional ambassadors for our school and all of our visitors were complimentary about them. The boys spoke enthusiastically and expertly about the school and we hope they also found the experience rewarding and enjoyable. Yesterday, we celebrated Hello Yellow by coming to school in yellow items of clothing. Students also took part in a great assembly lead by Mr Livesley and other activities in class to raise awareness about mental health issues. The key message was that ‘It is OK to not be OK’ and to promote understanding of both themselves and others. As we approach the half term, it is important that the boys use this as an opportunity to consider how they treat each other and know that people bring different moods and issues with them to school. Next week, Tuesday 18th October, we will have our individual and class school photos. We are also offering families with children across the Foundation the opportunity to bring in siblings before school from 8.15am. Please note, that due to staffing issues, we are unable to collect students or take them back to their respective parts of school. Please ensure your son comes to school looking his best…we will do our best to keep him looking that way (at least up until the photo!). Please could I remind you that smart watches are NOT permitted in school and your son should not bring these into school at any time. All boys should have earphones for use with their iPad, as mentioned in the school kit list at the beginning of term. A number of boys don’t have any and this is impacting on lessons. Have a great week!
