HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 16 OCTOBER 2024
A note from the Head… It was lovely to welcome new families and some of our current parents into school last Saturday. Our Open Morning was a celebration of everything that makes Hesketh House so special. The classrooms were full of dazzling displays and there was a buzz of excitement as visitors made their way around school.
A huge thank you to the pupils who came to help us on the day and make the morning so memorable. We had fantastic feedback about school in general and the sounds of our pupils beautiful singing made everyone smile.
We promote in girls our Hesketh Habits, which accelerate their academic progress. Curiosity, challenge, collaboration and communication skills, are vital skills in today’s world. In recent years our oracy project, where we teach those so important communication skills, has had a huge impact on our pupils. Being curious and asking questions is a vital part of lessons and our teachers create a learning environment where inquisitive children thrive. Group and paired work, discussion, questioning and evaluating are vital skills underpinning our teaching and learning. We think it’s important to teach our pupils to be compassionate, listen carefully and to challenge the opinions of others politely in debates and discussions. As I visit lessons and walk around school, I’m proud to see that at Hesketh House our pupils are excited about school, they are engaged and immersed in their learning and are stretched and challenged both personally and academically. As we come to the end of our first half term of the new school year, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy holiday.

Breaking News!
In particular, our visitors commented on the confidence and enthusiasm of our Ambassadors as they proudly toured them around school. We were very proud of them and the role they played. A huge thank you to all the staff and pupils involved on the day. On Saturday I spoke to prospective parents about how Hesketh House combines a strong sense of tradition with innovation to offer the very best mix of learning.
Hesketh House is a forward-thinking school and we have exciting news this week. Each pupil now has a digital portfolio to showcase their proudest extra-curricular achievements, their leadership roles and responsibilities and photographs of their work across the curriculum – a virtual diary of their life in school.
