“Un libro illustrato è la prima galleria d’arte che il bambino visita”: così scriveva da Praga Květa Pacovská, una delle più grandi illustratrici e autrici del ventesimo secolo.
Prima di lei, le parole di Victor d’Amico, pioniere, fondatore del dipartimento educativo del MoMa al tempo della Guerra Fredda, avevano già indicato una strada: “L’arte può forse rappresentare una via di salvezza per l’uomo moderno, ma solo se ai bambini - a tutti i bambini - è data la possibilità di vivere autentiche esperienze estetiche...”
Da molti anni gli editori di tutto il mondo hanno accolto l’invito, dando vita a una produzione straordinaria di libri illustrati per giovani lettori dedicati all’arte, agli artisti, ai musei, nella consapevolezza che i ragazzi sono il pubblico del domani, un pubblico da informare, formare e non solo da intrattenere.
Questa mostra presenta cento titoli dedicati all’Arte privilegiando quelli pubblicati in Italia e mostrando anche esemplari eccellenti da altri paesi per offrire al pubblico di Arte Fiera un viaggio senza frontiere linguistiche, un viaggio aperto allo sguardo verso altri orizzonti. L’iniziativa nasce nell’ambito di Off Fair, un programma ideato e curato da Accademia
Drosselmeier per garantire una capillare divulgazione nazionale e internazionale dei contenuti e delle esperienze della Bologna Children’s Book Fair, l’evento professionale più importante al mondo nel settore dei libri per ragazzi.
Dopo Arte Fiera, Kids’ Art Pages prenderà la strada verso Sud per raggiungere Gibellina, capitale italiana dell’Arte Contemporanea 2026.
“An illustrated book is the first art gallery that a child visits”: this is what Květa Pacovská, one of the greatest illustrators and authors of the twentieth century, wrote from Prague.
Before her, Victor d’Amico, a pioneer and founder of the Department of Education at MoMA during the Cold War, had already pointed the way with his words: “Art may represent a means of salvation for modern man, but only if children - all children - are given the opportunity to live authentic aesthetic experiences...”
For many years, publishers around the world have embraced this invitation, giving rise to an extraordinary production of illustrated books for young readers dedicated to art, artists, and museums, with the awareness that children are the audience of tomorrow, an audience to inform and educate, not merely to entertain. This exhibition presents one hundred titles dedicated to Art, favoring those published in Italy while also showcasing excellent examples from other countries to offer the audience at Arte Fiera a journey without linguistic barriers, an exploration open to perspectives beyond our own horizons.
The initiative is part of Off Fair, a program designed and curated by Accademia Drosselmeier to ensure a widespread national and international dissemination of the contents and experiences of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the most important professional event in the world in the field of children’s books.
After Arte Fiera, Kids’ Art Pages will head south to reach Gibellina, the Italian capital of Contemporary Art 2026.
