Premium Picks Simmental Female Sale 2025

Page 1

Welcome to the second annual Premium Picks Simmental Female Sale. It is hard to believe that summer is gone, and we are now into fall and what a fall it has been so far! Crops in our area were very good, and the cattle market is even better! It has never been a better time to be in the cattle business, and we are sure glad that we are apart of it!

We are very excited to be hosting the Premium Picks Simmental Female Sale with a great group of consignors. Each consignor brings females from their programs that will go out and become great producing females. The kind of females that everyone is looking for!

From our program we have dug deep and are very proud of the females we have on offer. They are bred to easy calving well known bulls. All our bred heifers have good condition, good feet, nice udders and great temperaments. Before sale day, the heifers will have received both of their Scour Bos vaccinations. These are females that we would be proud to keep in our program, but we just can’t keep them all!

Videos have been taken of the heifers and will be available to view on www.cattlevids.ca.

We would like to thank all our past bidders and buyers that have invested in our program and promise you there will be some females here you will like! We invite people to come to the farm and have a look at the heifers for themselves. They really are an impressive group, and we would love to give you a tour! Please join us on December 10th before the sale for lunch and some hospitality. Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

We are very excited to be back with this group of consignors for the second annual Premium Picks sale. What a time to be in the beef industry! Record high alf cprices are long overdue!! Our hard work is finally paying off. We are excited to showcase the 6 females that we think really represent what we strive to produce. Each one has potential to be a difference maker in their new owner’s herd, and there is something for everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone on sale day, and if you want to see animals prior to sale day, we are always up for a tour and coffee. Gotta give a shout out to our kids! A lot of the work getting these ladies ready for sale day comes from them. Cattle is their passion, and they love what they do!! The heifers will have their first shot of Scour Bos and Pour on. See you sale day!

Trevor, Amy, Austyn, Kinley and Maverick

Thank you, to Ag Land Farms for allowing us to be apart of The Premium Picks Sale with this great group of consigners again this fall. Thank you also to the buyers of our heifers in last years sale. The Metske Family (Crooked Creek Farms) of Rorketon, Manitoba, are very excited to bring these3 heifers to the sale. We feel these heifers have great potential and will strive in whatever environment whether that is being used as a junior project or taken home to a replacement pen. These heifers are sired by Exclusive AI sires RF Intensity and SVS Tycoon and a bull we are very proud to have raised being CROCRK Lightning which will have a big influence on our program moving forward. If you have any questions about the heifers on offer, please do not hesitate to contact Colton, he would be happy to answer any questions. We look forward to meeting and seeing you all at the sale.

Colton Metske

A very big THANKYOU is in order to BOHRSON Marketing and the other consignors for letting us in last minute when our original sale plans were cancelled. We have on offer the 3 very best heifer calves we produced this year, the true top end. The kids ripping on our homebuilt dirtbike track right along their summer pasture has these calves pretty bulletproof quiet. We encourage anyone to come to the farm near Eden MB to see the calves and parents anytime before the sale.

Mathew Kulbacki

On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to welcome everyone to the Premium Picks Sale. First, I would like to thank everyone who showed interest in our program last year.

This year, we are bringing a strong group of breds and a select group of long yearling open females from our fall calving program. There are a lot of power cow families backing both the breds and opens.

The breds are a strong, functional group with some exciting matings. Black Gold Approval 71E was used in our AI group this year along with Oakview Kahuna 11K, who has been our dependable heifer bull for a few years. This spring, we acquired DMJ 77M ‘Gold Rush’ from Agland Farms, he will have a lot of presence in this years offering.

The fall born open females are a group of real sweethearts and strong in every way. If you’re wanting some more mature females, these girls are ready to work.If you have any questions, please reach out and I would be more than happy to visit.

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Premium Picks female sale. This year we bring seven black bred females to offer. which we think are very nice set of heifers. We strive for good feet and udders so if you want them Black there shouldn’t be much guess work here. Thanks to past buyers and bidders. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call. Hope to see you sale day.

WELCOME FROM BOHRSON MARKETING

The fall female sales are now in full swing and the sales have been strong. The quality of cattle in this sale are simply outstanding, Many top cattlemen and women fought hard to purchase a premium breeding piece in last year’s inaugural sale. All of the consignors have dug deep into the replacement pen again this year to keep the ball rolling. These consignors have been very active for many years picking the Bulls and females to produce the highest quality stock they can, the proof is in the pudding. I’m sure you’ll agree while looking through the cattle on offer. I like the way this group has covered all the bases, they have Fullbloods, Red and Black purebreds with both breds and heifer calves. The commitment to satisfy the buyer with sound, functional cattle with both proven and new exciting genetics is very commendable, many heifers that weren’t supposed to leave the farm are on offer at this year’s sale.

Commercial cattleman, there is quite the opportunity presented to you at this sale. We have a multi consignor offering you top notch heifers to bring your herd to the next level. With the high prices that we have received, I believe many people have taken advantage and either sold all their heifer calves or kept fewer. Now is the time to add a new cow family to the herd.

I know personally I’d sooner add a new matriarch to my herd and have a write off than pay more in taxes!! Looking forward to seeing you sale day. If you can’t make it, contact any one of us at Bohrson for our free and discreet order buying service.

We start this year with a heifer calf that we think very highly. She has a look at me presence about her with a nice hair coat big rib shape and moves very well . She’s out of our home raised bull of ours that we are very excited about his progeny going forward. Her mom is a hard working epic cow that goes back to a full blood bull from Bar 5 Simmentals.

A heifer we think is good enough to wear a halter for a junior project.

Sire CROCRK Lighting 382L

lot 22

A heifer we didn’t want to sell this fall but we wanted to bring what we thought was our best to this sale so here she is. This will be one of the very first intensity heifer calves to sell. He was one we really liked in the 2024 bull season and we’re fortunate to be able to get in on a semen pack. We have been very happy with his calves this year and used him heavily this year in our breeding program. 5122N dam was a purchase from the Rainbow River program. She has exceeded all our expectations. We sold her maternal sister last year to Spud Island Farms in PEI out of this same sale. This one is sure to make a great cow with combing two of the best cow family’s in the business with the Sage and the Sream family’s represented in her pedigree .

lot 23

This is one that the picture does not do her justice of how could we think she is. We were very fortunate when we put these embryos in getting 4 of the 5 and left us we 3 full sister and a bull so it makes it easier to let this one go. When we saw her dam at the R Plus dispersal we knew we had to watch for embryo opportunities and what better mating could you want that to the great Tycoon bull. We think she has a big time future as a mamma cow. With a stacked pedigree the potential could be endless.

Sire RF Intensity 3142

A special female that will definitely grab your attention on sale day. 419L comes out of a top producing female at our place going back to a Renegade cow that did great things at Big Sky raising both top end male and females. There is only 2 reasons this standout is coming to the auction, is we lucked out and have a full sister in the heifer pen and our dedication to bringing top end cattle to this sale. 419L has that herd bull maker look to her, she is a beast. Her sire, Hercules continues to impress us with his offspring. Go ahead and take a peek at that pedigree and find a fault, will be tough. AI bred to HP Bravo is an added feature. Ultrasounded safe to AI breeding on Mar.25 to Grinaltas HP Bravo. No exposure.

“T” METRO 4E

I am so surprised that Amy decided to let this heifer come to town as she comes out of Amy’s favourite cow on the farm. 1M’s dam Reba is a beautifully pigmented cow with the barrel belly that we all strive to get and milks to make ‘em grow. Going back to some Old School Anchor T Impact on the sire side never hurts anything especially seeing the quantity and quality of progeny that came out of him. 1M herself is dark red, and just like her mom, deep bodied, well pigmented and is dropping that picture perfect udder. Being bred to Ferrous definitely adds to the value of this female. Ultrasounded safe to AI breeding on Mar.22 to Keets Ferrous. No exposure.

Service Sire Grinaltas HP Bravo

lot 26 – Fullblood

2M genetically is something to pay attention to as both top and bottom sides of this pedigree are outstanding. Her dam, 43B is one of our leading matrons, always raising one of the top end calves and being flushed several times giving us embryos in the tank. Bacardi Gold was a home raised bull that came out of the Anchor T Krystal, who basically got things start for us here at Big Sky. 2M will be like her mother. She will go out and be that cow type who will lay down calve, re breed and then raise you an exciting calf to wean. Bred to Jesse James will give you a marketable calf.

Ultrasounded safe to AI breeding on Apr.1 to KSL Jesse James. No exposure.

lot 27 – Hetero Polled Fullblood

Another heifer who will have admirers on sale day. 35M is a moderate frame heifer out of a bull purchased from the respected herd of JB livestock. Unfortunately we only got one calf crop out of him. People who saw Miley this summer on grass admired her for her feminine clean front end, yet stylish bold design. Her dam was paraded around as a calf and is now starting to make her mark in the herd at a young age. Bred to Ferrous for an early Jan calf.

Ultrasounded safe to AI breeding on Mar.24 to Keets Ferrous. No exposure.

Dam Big Sky Bally 43B
Sire Big Sky Bacardi Gold

Another Hercules daughter that was destined for the keeper pen, but our loss is your gain. A nicely pigmented heifer who will definitely bring home heavy weights every year. Our of a deep bodied heavy milking dam, 34M should follow in her mom’s footstep being the easy keeping kind who you just watch make you money. She developing a beautiful udder and has a super sweet disposition. Ultrasounded safe to AI breeding on Apr.1 to Keets Ferrous. No exposure.

MARTINI

Martini won’t be hard to find sale day. Look for the easiest doing heifer in the pen. Martini has been a favourite since birth, being paraded up and down the show trail as a calf and again this summer as a bred. Her dam, the high selling fullblood at the 2023 Border City Sale from Rafter 4t and is 2 for 2, raising Martini and now a bull calf who has been in the kids show string this summer. When I say easy doing, Martini spent the summer at pasture walking after show circuit was done and didn’t lose a pound before bringing her home early fall. Look for a very marketable calf being bred to Ferrous. Return on Investment will be easy. Ultrasounded safe to AI breeding on Mar.20 to Keets Ferrous. No exposure.

Service Sire Keets Ferrous

lot 30

This calf is from an older cow we bought from the Creekside ‘dispersal’ in spring of ‘24. She’s a well built B cow with a near perfect udder still and great feet. We brought her home and she was bred by our Hyatt bull before sunset. This calf has really bloomed after weening and is looking more impressive every day. This girl is worth a close look come sale day.

lot 31

This calf came in the top selling heifer of the DOUBLE G dispersal sale in the fall of ‘24. This calf’s sire, SKYWEST POL LOOKOUT sold for $37,500 at that same sale. She’s a very stylish calf who will make a very pretty cow. She’s got the perfect shape I like, a brick with legs.

lot 32

This Christmas morning calf is exactly what we wanted from Santa. The HOLLIE-HYATT mix is a no miss combination. 10M is built the same as her full sibling KOOBA 1L who we sold to TRI K Cattle and MAXWELL Simmentals for $21,500. Big hip and a lot of muscle, long spine and great feet. She will make an impressive cow. Her sire, JDMS MR.HYATT 39D 131H is a perfect package bull, he does everything right and crosses well with everything he touches.

Ful Sib Kooba 1L

Our commercial heifers are managed the same way as our purebred heifers. These heifers are all easy doing, with good feet, nice udders and great temperaments.
