ROBINIA PLAY EQUIPMENT ADVENTURE PLAY
![]()
For well over 50 years we at BOERplay have specialised in equipping school playgrounds, public areas and recreational spaces with active playing fun. We offer an extensive range of modern playground and sports equipment, street furniture and flower boxes. All our products are durable, maintenance-friendly and vandal resistant.
We realise that as a company, we have a major impact on sustainability. We produce in-house and, when possible, obtain our raw materials and semi-finished products locally, with a positive impact on CO2 emissions. During design, the starting point is the Dutch sustainability norm (which succeeds that of the EU). We design with a quality that by definition guarantees a lifespan of at least 15 years. This is why we use high quality materials such as:
- FSC® certified wood (class 1)
- Stainless steel
- Galvanised and powder coated steel
- Aluminium
- Hercules rope
- Rebo plastics made of recycled household plastics

For children, a playground is not only for playing, but also to socialise. In this space different rules apply than at home or school. Rules that largely stem from the children themselves. In order to encourage children to play their games, it is important that the playground is filled with challenges and stimulations. A good playground has play opportunities for every type of child. A place where they can sit or play quietly, where there is room for sports, climbing, playing hide-and-seek, talk and/or isolate themselves. There is enough room for games with clearly defined rules, and games in which children can fantasise and set their minds free. This is why BOERplay prefers to think in terms of the entire playground, rather than merely the equipment itself.
By providing space for different types of play, children learn how to handle conflicts, play together, be aware of each other and listen to one another. BOERplay categorises these as follows:
Children in need of space; have a lot of energy and race around.
Relatively more boys in this category
Open spaces where everything is allowed and no rules apply; running, playing football, playing basketball, cycling or skating (depending on the available surface)
Children seeking a lot of structure; they consciously search for a reason to play.
Relatively more girls in this category
Structured space designated for a specific play (play equipment such as seesaws, slides, etc.)
Children using materials lying around; they build their own environment.
Relatively more boys in this category
The natural boundaries of a playground (trees, hedges, bushes). Fiddling, picking, crushing, hiding, isolating themselves etc.
Children seeking shelter; they observe others before they join in or just sit and watch.
Relatively more girls in this category
Prefer both vertical and horizontal structures where they can shelter.
BOERplay Adventure Play is made from the irregular shaped Robinia wood. The posts are 14-16 cm thick. Only the heartwood is being used. We make the slides and tubes of stainless steel and also finish off the devices with stainless steel parts. We secure connections with a locknut or safety cap.
We use 16 mm hercules rope with a steel core for our ropes and nets. We make our spring elements out of black powdercoated and hot-dip galvanised steel.
This way we can place the items directly in the ground. Wood is a natural product and we take that into account. We only use A-class materials.
Robinia is a European hardwood. This type of wood comes from the acacia tree (Robinia Pseudoacacia). The wood has a natural resistance to both abiotic and biotic influences.
Wood types are classified into different resistance classes. Robinia is the only European wood species that is classified in resistance class 1. It is a good alternative to tropical hardwood. Robinia is therefore particularly suitable for outdoor applications such as play equipment. Robinia endures for a long time without any problems. The lifespan of Robinia has been determined on the basis of extensive research (Molnar 1988).
Sustainability and Social Responsibility go hand in hand within our company. That is why we believe in responsible forest management. FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council®, is an international organisation that promotes responsible forest management. We consider the use of FSC hardwood very important and are therefore also FSC certified.
The origin of FSC timber meets worldwide standards for sustainable forest management. The 10 FSC principles form the basis for these standards.
If forest owners adhere to the FSC standards, their forest can be certified. Independent auditors ensure compliance with the rules.
In our programme you will discover two types of product numbers: RBPE and PSTE.
RBPE references are not constructed, partly not pre-drilled and the foundation needs a lot of concrete.
PSTE references are more complex items that are already partially built and pre-drilled, such as play equipment and moving parts. As an exception, PSTE items could also be delivered as RBPE items. Please contact us for more information.

Falling is part of the game. Naturally, to prevent is better than to cure. In case one falls anyway, it is important that the surface prevents unnecessary injuries. Safety surfaces beneath Playground equipment must comply with EN 1177 regulations.
Fall height Grass** Solid surfaces (concrete, tarmac, hard clay etc.)
Is your desired combination not (yet) included in this brochure? Does the equipment not fit in the available safety area? Or are you inspired by this brochure, but have your own ideas that you would like to see implemented?
Rubber cast floor
BOERplay (playground) equipment is designed in such a way that a grass area often suffices. In addition, there are many other safety surfaces one could use as impact absorbing ground material. Please find below an overview of possible absorbing ground materials.

* In the event of forced movement, a hard surface is excluded and absorbent materials are required for drop heights equal to or greater than 1.0 m. Spring sets cannot be installed on hard (paved) surfaces.
** Provided the surface is free of gravel and rubble.
*** Provided a sufficiently equal grain size
