The Boerne Parks & Recreation Department consists of a diverse group of individuals passionate about providing for the community. There are over four hundred acres of land to maintain, ten public parks, and five and a half miles of trails in Boerne - each offering something a little different to visitors. Simply put, we are here to provide fun & opportunities to create lifelong memories, all while providing safe surroundings.

We strive to improve the quality of life, promote tourism, and contribute to community aesthetics, as well as oversee various programs and events such as adult athletics, youth athletics, community education, fitness & recreation, and year-round community events.

1 - VOLUNTEER

We may be biased, but we think Parks & Rec. events are some of the coolest spots to be in Boerne. Come lend a hand at our events! It’s a great way to have fun while supporting your community and earning service hours for work or school.

2 - ADVERTISE

Promote your organization by advertising with the Parks & Recreation Department. Increase name recognition with an ad in next year’s guidebook or a banner on one of our softball field fences. You can also get the word out by sponsoring an event or running a commercial during a Movie in the Park night.

3 - ADOPT A PARK OR TRAIL

Nothing brings people together like volunteering in the great outdoors. Adopting a Boerne Park or Trail is a great way to boost teamwork through community service. We’ll put your group to work during litter pickup, landscaping, weeding, watering, planting, and more. It never fails to create a connection!

4 - MEMORIAL BENCH

Commemorate your loved ones with a memorial bench in our new Northside Community Park! Each bench has space for a plaque to recognize the organization, donor, or loved one being honored.

5 - MEMORIAL TREE

With our Memorial Tree Program, you can honor your loved ones and give a gift to the whole community! Memorial trees will be planted in our new Northside Community Park, and each tree is planted with a commemorative plaque in the honoree’s name. 9

Students starting in this class should be competent in intermediate beginner skills. They should be comfortable submersing their heads under water and swimming at greater depths. Students will increase their competency in freestyle and backstroke. This includes coordinating alternating arm actions with proper licking techniques. Students will also be introduced to side breathing, treading water and becoming oriented in higher depths.

In this class, students will refine their freestyle/backstroke techniques and be introduced to breaststroke. Lastly, students will learn the basics of diving and diving safely.

YEAR-ROUND USA SWIM CLUB: Boerne Elite Equatics is a year-round competitive swim club registered with USA Swimming. We offer multiple practice groups designed to fit every skill level - from developing young swimmers to advanced athletes. Our program focuses on technique, endurance, and fostering a love for the sport in a supportive team environment. In addition to evening practices, we also offer a dedicated homeschool training group during the day. Whether your swimmer is new to the pool or aiming for competition, we provide opportunities to learn, improve, and thrive year-round. THE RIPTIDE SUMMER SWIM

Our Riptide Summer Swim League offers boys and girls (ages 5 - 18) a fun, competitive, swim experience from May through early July. Practices are held at the Boerne City Pool, and all meet fees are included in one simple registration. Swimmers receive expert coaching, a team t-shirt, and cap, and have the opportunity to compete in home, away, Champs, and All-Star meets. This seasonal program is part of the Maverick Summer Swim League and welcomes swimmers who can safely swim a 25-yard pool length.

LEARN TO SHOOT COURSE 2ND FRIDAYS AT 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

A hands-on introduction to safe handgun operation for Texas residents 18+. Ideal for first-time users, new owners, or those wanting a refresher. This 90-minute private session includes discussion and range time, focusing on safety, fundamentals, and basic operation. Instruction, targets, eye/ear protection, a .22 handgun, and up to 100 practice rounds are included. Students may bring their own firearm. If comfortable, you may also complete your License to Carry range qualification the same day.

LOCATION: 111 Water Street | CURFEW: Midnight - 5:00 AM Located at the corner of Water Street and Highland Street, Kinderpark (formally known as Optimist Park) was developed in 1997 with the support of the local Optimist Club. The Optimist Club supported the purchase of playground equipment and the development of the site, which was an abandoned city well site. In 2016, this park received a complete makeover and upgrades along with the new name, “Kinderpark”. The fenced and shaded park is very popular with families with younger children. ROEDER PARK

LOCATION: 104 Roeder Street | CURFEW: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Roeder Park is a 1.8 acre neighborhood park. As a neighborhood park, Roeder Park is designed to serve the needs of its local residents. The residents who surround the park have asked that it remain a simple green space without amenities, and so it is! HISTORY: Roeder Park honors the memory of Aaron and Allen Roeder, twin brothers who were killed serving their country in World War II. The park was made possible when Boerne residents, C.T. and Eva Roberts deeded four lots from the Cibolo Park addition to the City of Boerne on June 18, 1945.

The City of Boerne broke ground on Northside Community Park in September 2025, marking the start of 12-18 months of construction on this voter-approved bond project. The new park will include many high-value amenities as it becomes a premiere destination for Boerne residents. During construction, the park will be closed to the public, including the existing skate park and restroom facility.

VETERANS PLAZA

LOCATION: 801 South Main Street | CURFEW: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM 1 of 71 Lonestar Legacy Parks in the state, Veterans Plaza is a 1.8 acre community park. Inside, a unique pattern of trees and sidewalks lead the way to the park’s centerpiece: The Veterans War Monument. The park hosts annual gatherings for Veterans Day and other ceremonies commemorating our war veterans. HISTORY: Renovated in 2014, The Veterans War Monument is a 14 foot tall monument listing the names of those who died in combat during World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Additional plaques have been added to memorialize those who lost their lives in combat after the Vietnam War. The Walk of Honor is an extra wide walkway to the center of the park. The walkway is lined with bricks that include the names of family and friends that served or are still serving in the military. This fundraising effort provides a permanent way of recognizing those whose service has meant so much to all of us. The Walk of Honor has been extended and limited bricks are being sold. TRAILHEAD NORTH: 100 North Main St. at The Kendall; TRAILHEAD SOUTH: 106 City Park Road at the Municipal Pool CIBOLO TRAIL EXTENTION: 106 City Park Road at the Playground CURFEW: Dusk to Dawn The Cibolo Trail extends approximately 3.15 miles from the Trailhead North near The Kendall to the Trailhead South by the Boerne Municipal Pool. The trail follows Boerne’s signature waterway, Cibolo Creek, passing through Boerne’s historic downtown and the famed Hill Country Mile. At the confluence of Cibolo and Currey Creeks, a 150 foot pedestrian bridge stands amongst the trees, offering a scenic view of the two creeks joining. The trail extends from City Park Trailhead and an additional 1.4 miles through City Park and out along the Old No. 9 railway towards Herff Falls. In a nod to its railroad roots, the Old No. 9 Trail features distinctive design elements from the Old San Antonio & Aransas Pass railway. For example, the shade pavilion at Blanco Road mirrors the small SA&AP depots that marked less populous communities along the old rail route. The Old No. 9 also features 1.4 miles of trail headed straight through the Heart of Boerne and a bridge as well as a trail that connects the Old No. 9 to Patrick Heath Public Library.
