Pineapple Press September 1, 2026 September has arrived, bringing the final stretch of summer and the first signs of another exciting season ahead at Boca Royale. As we head into fall, the Club is beginning to pick up pace, and our team is busy preparing for the months ahead while continuing to offer plenty of opportunities for our year-round members to gather and enjoy the Club. We’ll kick off the month by celebrating Labor Day on Monday, September 7, including our annual Labor Day Golf Tournament. It’s always a fun way to spend the holiday with fellow members and enjoy a little friendly competition on the course. September also brings another great month of dining and entertainment at the Club. Our Friday Night Buffets continue with a new lineup of themes throughout the month, paired with live entertainment each Friday evening. These nights have become a wonderful way to start the weekend, enjoy great food, and spend time with friends and neighbors. Around the Club, golf, racquets, fitness, dining, and social activities continue as we begin the transition from our quieter summer months into the busy season ahead. Behind the scenes, our team is preparing calendars, events, programs, and new opportunities for members as we look forward to welcoming many familiar faces back to Boca Royale over the coming months. This fall will also mark our first season as a fully private Club, making the months ahead especially exciting. As Boca Royale continues to grow and evolve, our focus remains on creating an exceptional member experience while preserving the friendships, traditions, and sense of community that make the Club so special. To our year-round members, thank you for making this such a fun and active summer at Boca Royale. And to our seasonal members beginning to make plans for your return, we look forward to welcoming you home soon. There is a lot to look forward to this fall, and we are excited for another wonderful season together at Boca Royale.

September is here, and we can already feel the excitement of another season beginning to build at Boca Royale! We’ve had such a fun summer introducing new events, socials, specials, and opportunities to bring members together, and we are so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make them such a success. We’re keeping that momentum going in September with even more opportunities to mix, mingle, and have a little fun! Football season is back, and we’re kicking things off with our NFL Men’s Kickoff Social on September 13. Then, our ladies are invited to join us for a Ladies’ Sunset Social on September 17, an evening to relax, catch up with friends, and enjoy a beautiful Boca Royale sunset together. One of the events we’re most excited about this month is our Sock Hop on September 26! We’ll be turning back the clock for a night of great music, dancing, food, and plenty of nostalgia. Break out the poodle skirts, leather jackets, and your best ’50s attire and get ready for a fun night at the Club! As September winds down, we’re also looking ahead to a busy fall. Our Flu Shot Clinic returns on October 14, making it easy for members to get their annual flu shot right here at the Club. And of course, our annual Halloween Party is October 31! It’s never too early to start planning those costumes—we love seeing how creative our members get each year. With season right around the corner, there is so much to look forward to. We’re already working behind the scenes on fall and winter events, holiday celebrations, and plenty of ways to keep everyone connected. Whether you’ve been here with us all summer or are beginning to make your way back to Boca Royale, we can’t wait for another fun season together. Thank you for continuing to show up, try something new, bring your friends, and make our events so much fun. Seeing members connect and enjoy the Club is exactly why we love what we do, and we have a feeling this season is going to be a good one!

A Conversation with our Golf Pro Shop Manager Stan Keown Q: How did you get started in the golf industry? A: I have played golf for 40 years with a passion. While living in Kentucky, I worked on programs such as tournaments and fundraisers at our local golf course. When my son was transferred to Tampa for work, my wife and I moved to Rotunda West at Long Marsh Golf Club. My son has subsequently been transferred to Cleveland, but we love our life in Florida with wonderful neighbors and friends. Q: What did you do in Kentucky? A: I was the Operations Manager for Pepsi Cola, responsible for 2 separate distribution centers. That is where I learned to create the environment that I have brought to our club. I have an open-door policy, and I treat employees and members with respect. We have developed wonderful staff relationships with a great attitude and a joyful environment. Q: What brought you to Boca Royale? A: I came to Boca right before Hurricane Ian in 2022. My responsibilities included the Pro Shop and outside work. After the storm, I cleared the driving range and worked with the club’s carts. Subsequently, I worked as a starter and then transitioned full time to the Pro Shop when the trailer was still there.Under Keith Welter, I became the Pro Shop Manager. While I now work part-time, my responsibilities remain the same. Q: What is the scope of your work in the Pro Shop? A: “I take complete ownership of the Pro Shop.” I manage 6 people in the Pro Shop and 9 people outside.They include the bag drop workers, the cart people, the starter and the ranger. We have 37 Club Carts on site, which I oversee. Golf Pros Brian and Linda have been great assets to the Pro Shop.One of my key responsibilities is inventory management. I also work on special events, such as setting up tables, organizing scorecards, outlining rules, and interacting with members. Q: What are some of the most popular items among members right now? A: Our best-selling items are men’s clothing. Comfort and versatility are big right now – items that work both on and off the course tend to be especially popular. We are focused on carrying more women’s clothing that our members would like to see. We carry many styles and sizes for both men and women. Q: How do you create a welcoming experience for members and guests? A: It starts with great people. We focus on being approachable, knowledgeable, and attentive. We want everyone to feel comfortable and valued when they walk through the door. One of my favorite activities is welcoming potential new golf members to the Pro Shop.I enjoy sharing the experience with them and orienting them to our golf course. Q: How often do you play golf, and what is your favorite hole? A: I enjoy playing 1-2 days per week. The 16th hole is my favorite, because it is beautiful and challenging.

A Conversation with our Golf Pro Shop Manager Stan Keown Q: Do you have any quick tips for improving someone’s game or comfort on the course? A: Patience, persistence, and determination. And above all, have fun! Q: What can our members do to help things run smoothly? A: Communication is key. Emails are regularly sent to our members about upcoming events. Registering early is very helpful for course management. Of course, things happen, but please notify the Pro Shop if you are unable to play. Q: What is life like outside of work? A: I have been married for 37 years to Teresa, my pride and joy and my best friend. She plays pickleball 56 days per week, and I sometimes join her. I am an avid baseball fan, dating back to my college days when I played baseball. From expert advice to the latest in golf fashion and equipment, the Pro Shop plays an essential role in the club experience. Golf Course Superintendent’s Report From Ben Kamberg
As we move through August, our team has continued to build on the progress made during our two-week closure in July. With the major projects completed during the closure, our focus has shifted toward the smaller details that make a significant difference in the overall appearance and presentation of the golf course.
focusing on the details Since reopening, we have been spending considerable time on detail work throughout the property. This includes removing unnecessary cart paths, planting chordgrasses, and completing numerous smaller landscaping and beautification projects. While these projects may seem minor individually, collectively they help create a more polished and cohesive appearance throughout the golf course. One project we are particularly excited about is the continued improvement of the dump area near #17. We are currently working with a contracted excavator to remove all of the accumulated concrete from the dump. Once that material has been removed, we will be planting Areca palms along the front of the area to help screen and beautify the site. Our goal is to continue finding opportunities like this to improve areas of the property that may not directly impact play but contribute significantly to the overall appearance of the club.
staying ahead of the weeds We are also extremely focused on weed control as we move through the heart of the summer growing season. This is the time of year when many of our most aggressive weeds flourish, making consistent monitoring and timely control especially important. Our team is currently targeting signal grass in several high-priority areas of the golf course. At the same time, we are actively managing goosegrass and spurge as they continue to emerge and develop throughout the property. Controlling these weeds effectively requires a combination of scouting, targeted post-emergent applications, and staying ahead of new germination with our pre-emergent program.
Golf Course Superintendent’s Report continued Upcoming Pre-Emergent Application To help maintain the progress we have made with weed control, we will continue our proactive preemergent program throughout the remainder of the year. Our next application is scheduled for Wednesday morning, August 26, when the golf course will be closed to allow our maintenance team to safely and efficiently complete the application. We appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation with the temporary closure. These applications are an important part of maintaining the quality and consistency of the golf course and, ultimately, help reduce the weed pressure we experience throughout the growing season.
Looking Ahead: September Course Improvements We are also actively planning for our next scheduled maintenance closure on September 14 and 15. These two days will provide another valuable opportunity to perform important cultural practices that are difficult to complete during normal golf operations. One of our primary objectives will be to double-aerify the tee boxes. This process will help relieve compaction, improve air and water movement through the soil profile, and ultimately help soften the teeing surfaces. Improving the growing environment around the roots is an important part of maintaining healthy, resilient turf, particularly as we transition out of the most stressful portion of the summer. On the greens, we are planning another round of 8-inch-deep solid-tine aerification. This will allow us to continue addressing compaction deeper within the soil profile while minimizing disruption to the playing surfaces. Deep solid tining is an important component of our long-term greens management program and helps promote healthier roots, improved water infiltration, and better overall growing conditions. While these practices may not always be immediately visible, they are an important investment in the long-term health and quality of the golf course. Our goal is to use these maintenance closures strategically to address the underlying needs of the turf while continuing to improve the course's presentation and playing conditions. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work through these projects. We are excited about the progress being made throughout the property and remain committed to continually improving both the health of the turf and the overall presentation of the golf course.

Mini-Tennis is a scaled down version of full court tennis with the service line acting as the new baseline. The game may be played with low-compression balls to encourage stroke development. Rules can be flexible according to the goals of the group. Focus is more on hands and stroke development vs. physicality (placement over power). There is less stress on the body and still competitive. Classes are offered daily from beginner to advanced. Check in with Agnieszka at the Pro Shop for details.

September is typically the slowest month at the gym. The kids are starting school, vacation is over and the summer is winding down. This makes September the perfect time to reset your fitness plan and achieve your goals before the busy holiday season begins.
Here are a few tips to help you make positive strides over the next three months:

Schedule sessions with a trainer. Having accountability for your workout progress will help you stay on track. Plan meals ahead of time. Simple meal prep early in the week will help you make healthy choices at dinner time. Consistency is key. Doing some sort of physical activity daily is important. A 20-minute walk or a 10-minute stretching session gets the job done. Know when to take a break. Rest is just as important as the exercises. Rest, recovery, and staying hydrated aid in the progress of your fitness plan, so be sure to avoid overdoing it.
