Our holiday celebrations continue with two member favorites: Frank Sinatra Christmas Tribute featuring Dave DeLuca December 20th

Brunch With Santa December 21st

Self-Guided Christmas Cart Light Tour December 21st, the perfect festive way to end the evening!

December also brings five themed dinner nights, including Seafood Night, Tuscan Night, German Night, and the popular Steakhouse Night. Weekly dining favorites continue as well:

Tuesday Pizza Buffet

Wednesday Prime Rib & Pizza Night

Thursday Slider Night

Members may still order from the regular dinner menu on non-themed evenings, and don’t forget to check out our new dinner and wine/cocktail menus.

From all of us at the Club, thank you for making Boca Royale such a special place. We wish you a warm, joyful, and memorable holiday season!

Golf Course Update

Golf Course Maintenance

We survived our first cold front of the season. The dip in temperatures, along with the current drought situation, have brought with it a few noticeable changes to the golf course. Most of you have probably noticed the unsightly patches of tropical signal grass. This was expected and is actually a good thing. This weed is unfortunately in the soil as seeds. When we did the renovation, the seeds were disturbed during the tilling process of the renovation. Once the seed is disturbed or awakened, it germinates and leaves us with what we see now. The growth of this has now been stunted due to the cold front a while back. We can now begin our preparation for the control of the grass come early spring. This preparation will include some salt slurry which will be applied to the plant and it will basically render the plant defenseless. This will keep the plant in a weakened state for the winter so when we begin our herbicide treatment in the spring the plant will be easier to control.

If you ever have any questions or concerns about turf or some of our cultural practices, please send me an email at kwelter@bocaroyale.com

Golf Operations

It is nice to see all the familiar faces returning home to Boca Royale over the past several weeks. As we move into season, it is important to remember that demand for the golf course and tee times is at an all-time high. Some of the things that you can do as members are to make sure you only reserve tee times for the number of golfers you know that you are guaranteed to have playing that day. The leaders of the private games have done a great job making sure they have their player list to the pro shop within 48 hours of their scheduled tee times. If you are a twosome, please don’t make a tee time for a foursome. This gives other twosomes a chance to pair up with you and have the same opportunity to enjoy the golf course as you. It is a great way to meet new and old members alike.

We want to wish all of you a happy, healthy and safe holiday season and we will see you around the club.

Golf Cart Policy

All riders must pair up. 1 cart per twosome and 2 carts per threesome or foursome Cart may drive out on the fairway using the 90 Degree Rule

90 Degree Rule means drive from the cart path to your ball then drive back to the path

All Carts, including handicap flags, must return to the path at the BLUE LINE Carts must remain on the path for the remainder of the hole and continue on the path until you tee off on the next hole

On holes 13,16 and 18, carts must remain on the path from the bridge until they tee off on the next hole

All Par 3’s are CART PATH ONLY unless you have a handicap flag. Handicap flags must return to the path at the BLUE LINE on all Par 3’s and remain on the path until you tee off on the next hole

All Carts must be on the cart path past the BLUE LINE. These policies are in place to protect the turf.

Violations will be handled as follows:

1 and 2 offense is a written warning st nd

3 offense is a 1 week suspension rd

4 offense is a 1 month suspension th

Subsequent offenses may result in loss of membership

Warnings will come via email along with a photo that shows the cart owner or driver of club cart in violation of the policies set forth above.

Golf Course reminders

How do I sign up for a tee time?

The best way is to use the Boca Royale App or go to the member portal on the Boca Royale website and choose from the available times. You may also cancel a tee time the same way.

How do I sign up for games and tournaments?

The Club is using Golf Genius for all events. If you are not receiving the sign-up emails, please talk to pro shop to add your information. You should download the app and learn to use it. Golf Genius is set up so you will receive an email notification and invitation to play in weekly morning games one week prior to play. You will be able to respond to the invitations by choosing “playing” or “not playing”. By responding to the invitation, you will get a confirmation email.

Signup sheets for games and tournaments and normal tee times are also always available by stopping by or calling the Pro Shop at 941.474.7475.

TENNIS TIPS WITH AGNIESZKA

Missing serves in the net?

Your momentum may be going downward at contact. Keep your chin up and posture tall until the ball crosses the net this simple fix works almost every time.

Struggling against weaker players?

It’s usually a focus issue. When the match feels “too easy, ” your footwork and coordination drop. Pick one thing to focus on serve & volley, early preparation, getting to the net and commit to repeating it the whole match Staying disciplined will make easy matches truly easy

fitness news

Our new treadmills at the fitness center are only a few months old, but they are getting some really good usage! The benefits of walking or running on a treadmill are numerous. No need to mention the cardiovascular benefits here. Everyone knows that walking and running are good for the heart and lungs. You burn calories, lose weight, reduce stress, sleep better etc. However, there are reasons I recommend using our treadmills rather than walking outside.

1) Consistency. The treadmill allows you to walk at a consistent pace and incline regardless of weather, terrain or time of day.

2) Safety. It provides you with a predictable and safe, flat surface to minimize tripping and other hazards. The hand rails and emergency STOP key (when tethered to your person) are both great safety features.

3) Customization. You can easily adjust the speed, incline and other settings to challenge your fitness level.

Whether you're looking to get started on your fitness journey or you are a seasoned gym rat and want to challenge yourself (set the incline high as Florida has no hills), try one of our treadmills. Remember: it's better to be the oldest in the gym than the youngest in assisted living.

Contact me at JRichardson2167@gmail.com or (941) 896-2211 with questions or for assistance with getting started.
