August is here, and summer at Boca Royale is in full swing! As we settle into our first full month as a private Club, there is an exciting energy around Boca Royale and plenty happening for our members to enjoy. July marked an important new chapter in the Club’s history, and we are excited to continue building on that momentum as we look toward the future.
One of our focuses this summer has been creating more reasons to gather, connect, and enjoy the Club throughout the year August brings a variety of new events, dining specials, and social opportunities designed to do just that. From allday Happy Hour and our new Monday Chef’s Specials to weekly featured cocktails, there is always something new to enjoy when you stop by the Club.
Our social calendar is also keeping the summer lively This month, members can look forward to Friendly Feud, a fun and interactive dinner and game-show experience, along with A World of Cocktails, where we’ll take a trip around the globe through handcrafted cocktails and paired appetizers. We’re also excited to continue our popular Ladies’ Social Happy Hour and introduce our first Men’s Social Happy Hour following the tremendous response to July’s gathering.
August is also a great time to enjoy everything else Boca Royale has to offer. Whether it’s a round of golf, time on the tennis or pickleball courts, dinner with friends, a visit to the Fitness Center, or simply stopping by for a drink, we hope you’ll continue making the most of your Club this summer
As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same: to continue enhancing the Boca Royale experience and creating a Club our members are proud to call their own. Becoming private was an exciting milestone, but it was only the beginning. We look forward to continuing to grow, introduce new experiences, and build upon the traditions and friendships that make Boca Royale so special.
Thank you for being part of Boca Royale and for your continued participation and support. Here’s to another great month at the Club!
SUMMER AT
BOCA ROYALE
More to Enjoy This August!
One of our goals this year has been to make Boca Royale a place where members have something to look forward to all year long, not just during season Throughout the summer, we ’ ve been introducing new events, specials, and promotions to create even more opportunities to gather, connect, and enjoy the Club
August brings plenty of ways to enjoy your time at Boca Royale! Throughout the entire month, Happy Hour will be available all day, every day, from opening until close Whether you ’ re stopping in for lunch, meeting friends after a round of golf, or simply looking to unwind, you can enjoy Happy Hour drink prices all day long We’re also featuring a different Chef’s Special every Monday, along with a new featured cocktail each week
We’re especially excited about several new events this month. On Saturday, August 15, join us for Friendly Feud, an interactive dinner and game-show experience filled with friendly competition, great food, and plenty of laughs. Then, on Saturday, August 29, take a trip around the world with A World of Cocktails, featuring four handcrafted cocktails inspired by different regions around the globe, each paired with appetizers from those destinations. The Big Red Bus will also be at Boca Royale on Wednesday, August 19, for a community blood drive.
The response to our summer events has been incredible. Our July Ladies’ Social Happy Hour welcomed more than 80 members for a fun afternoon together! Because of the wonderful turnout, we ’ ve added another Ladies’ Social Happy Hour on Wednesday, August 13. The excitement also inspired our first-ever Men’s Social Happy Hour on Tuesday, August 18, with plans to continue offering both throughout the year.
Thank you to everyone who continues to join us, support new ideas, and make these events so much fun. Your participation and enthusiasm help shape what we offer, and we love finding new ways to make Boca Royale a vibrant place to gather all year long We look forward to seeing you around the Club this August!

Meet Ginger Meade
The (Wo)man, The Myth, The Legend

Q: How long have you been a part of our club?
A: It is hard to believe it has been 25 years. We moved from the Virginia Beach area with our then 18-month-old son Hunter. I was studying to be an x-ray technician and worked weekends at Boca Royale. My husband was working in Ft Myers and it was just too stressful at home I left school and started working Monday through Friday at the club.
Q: How have your responsibilities changed over time?
A: I initially worked as a server in the “old” 19 hole, and then worked in the Member’s Room where they renamed it Ginger’s Bar in my name. I learned bartending on the job, with guidance from Kiersa. Currently, I work 3 days a week at the bar, and do some private events as time permits. th
Q: What is your favorite part of interacting with staff and members?
A: I am not just a mentor for the staff, I’m the mom. As far as members go, I do not believe in saying no. I will go over the top to provide good service. “I am here for members and their families.”
Q: Have you developed any special connections with the members?
A: The members are not just clients or customers to me. I have been here long enough that many are “family”. I developed quite a relationship with the Wombacher’s. We had lots of happy times together. Mr. Wombacher began the tradition of ‘Employee of the Month’ and funded it with his own money. They truly cared for the employees. I also spent time with Mrs. Wombacher during her final days while in hospice. I even got in bed with her at the end to give her a hug.
Q: What are your favorite and most requested drinks?
A: I love to make cosmopolitans. Their pink color is beautiful. The most requested drink is vodka, soda and cranberry. The house chardonnay is very popular, as are Guiness and Michelob Ultra beer.
Q: What is a memorable experience you have had while working here?
A: I had no idea that the club was hosting a surprise party in my honor for 20 years working at the club My husband dragged me there by telling me we were stopping by for a drink. I had no interest in drinking at my place of employment but came anyway. I was so surprised and cried the whole evening.
Q: Tell us about life outside of work.
A: Wayne and I have a busy life Our son Hunter is 27 years old, and is a forklift operator in a local manufacturing warehouse where they pack special dog treats. Most of my time is consumed with helping my 87-yearold mom who lives alone and has dementia. I also adore my 7-year-old pug baby Turbo (see picture) who gives me so much unconditional love.

Golf Course Superintendent’s Report

From Ben Kamberg
July has been an exceptionally busy and rewarding month for the Agronomy Department. First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank each of you for your patience and support during our 10-day golf course closure. While ten days may seem like a long time, it is actually a very short window to accomplish the amount of work required to improve the long-term health of an entire golf course. Thanks to your understanding, our team was able to complete an incredible amount of work in a limited timeframe, and I could not be prouder of what they accomplished.
I want to recognize the dedication of our maintenance staff whose hard work, long hours, and attention to detail made this closure a success. They embraced every challenge with a positive attitude and worked tirelessly to complete each project safely and efficiently Their commitment to provide exceptional playing conditions is something I witness every day, and this month they truly went above and beyond.
As if the timing could not have been better, Mother Nature rewarded us shortly after reopening with several welltimed rain events While rainfall is always welcomed during the Florida summer, it was especially beneficial following all of our aerification and cultural practices

why aerification matters
Aerification is one of the most important investments we make in the long-term health of the golf course. Over time, the constant traffic from maintenance equipment, golf carts, and thousands of footsteps compresses the soil This compaction reduces the amount of oxygen available to the root system and limits the movement of water and nutrients through the soil profile. By creating thousands of small channels through aerification, we relieve that compaction, increase oxygen exchange, improve water infiltration, and encourage deeper, healthier root development. Healthy roots ultimately produce healthier turf that is better equipped to tolerate heat, traffic, drought, and disease.
Because we completed these practices before receiving our recent rainfall, the course was perfectly positioned to capitalize on the natural moisture. Instead of rainfall simply running across compacted surfaces, the water was able to move more effectively into the soil profile, reaching the root zone where it is most beneficial. The combination of improved soil structure, increased oxygen availability, and consistent soil moisture has allowed the turf to respond exactly as we had hoped. We will be following this up with a slow-release
Nitrogen/Potassium granular fertilizer that will help heal and grow in the golf course for post aerification recovery.
Golf Course Superintendent’s Report
In addition to our agronomic programs, we took full advantage of the closure to complete numerous improvement and beautification projects throughout the property. We removed several dead and hazardous trees and ground stumps, and replaced sections of aging cart paths with new coquina, improving both aesthetics and playability. Every fairway underwent an intensive cultural program, including 8-inch-deep slicing, 1298 aerification, ¾ inch verticutting, and 7000-pound rolling to improve soil structure, reduce compaction, and promote healthier, more vigorous turf Our greens experienced a double verticut, followed by an 8-inch-deep solid tine for all the same reasons. In my opinion, I did not think removing cores and organic matter was necessary, because having younger greens, I am still looking for the thatch layer to build slowly, which will soften them up and allow them to be more receptive. Beyond the playing surfaces, we trimmed and manicured all ornamental plant material, hedged landscape beds, maintained lake banks throughout the property, and carefully pruned more than 1,000 palm trees. We also edged every cart path to provide a clean, finished appearance and replenished bunker sand in areas where it was needed to restore consistent playing conditions. While many of these improvements may go unnoticed individually, together they represent our ongoing commitment to enhancing every aspect of the golf course and delivering an exceptional experience for our members and guests.
a look inside the closure

One of the most unique aspects of this year ' s closure was the opportunity to participate in the evaluation of an innovative new turf management technology being called “Therma Cut.” Developed by our golf course consultant and former USGA Agronomist, Todd Lowe, this prototype utilizes propane-fired burners mounted behind a utility vehicle to apply controlled heat to the turf surface
Sand into post-aerification holes
Golf Course Superintendent’s Report continued
testing the future of turf management
The concept behind the technology is to thermally reduce excess organic material (thatch) near the surface, with the long-term goal of reducing the reliance on some traditional mechanical cultivation practices that create disruption and require extensive cleanup. While the technology is still being refined and continues to evolve through research and field testing, we were honored to be invited to host one of its demonstrations. We did trials in the middle of Hole #9 fairway, the left side of the driving range tee, and the left side of our nursery green At the time of writing this, these areas are almost fully healed, with it having a 10 day turnaround from the day we did the trial. The fact that our course was selected, joining a small group of highly regarded clubs that have also participated, speaks to our commitment to progressive agronomy and our willingness to evaluate new ideas that may ultimately benefit both the health of the golf course and the experience of our membership. Whether a new practice becomes part of our long-term program or simply provides valuable insight, we believe continuous learning and innovation are essential to delivering the best possible golf course conditions.

from boca royale to john deere classic
Another awesome opportunity I was presented with this month was the chance to go visit the John Deere Headquarters in Moline, Illinois. Additionally, I was invited to play in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am at TPC Deere Run the day before the tournament. I played with Mac Meissner on the front 9 and played with Paul Peterson on the back 9 It was fun playing with Mac, as we were close in age, just having a good time out there. He also managed to finish the tournament in 6 place, making it his second best finish this season. I was able to bring my own Caddie for the tournament as well. So naturally, I brought my lovely wife Becca! She did an exceptional job on the bag, and we had a great time walking the golf course playing with the Pros. I was presented this opportunity from my John Deere Rep He showed us great hospitality and some of the perks of using John Deere equipment compared to the competitors.

HOW TO WIN THE MATCH IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS
Every match has a solution. Here’s how to find it.
READ THE MATCH
Stop watching only the ball
WHO?
Who is controlling most of the points?
Do you notice a specific weakness or strength in their positioning, strokes or communication?
YOUR GOAL
WHERE/WHAT?
Where are the oppenents standing?
What makes them uncomfortable?
TROUBLE SPOTS
What changes when the score gets right? What keeps putting you or your partner in trouble?
Gather information before trying to change everything.
FIND THE PATTERN
One good shot is not a pattern.
ASK YOURSELF
Has it happened more than once? Does it happen in the same situation? Can you predict it before it happens? Which player, shot or position keeps creating the advantage?
YOUR GOAL
EXAMPLES
The server keeps serving wide or relies almost entirely on a slice serve. The returner keeps avoiding the backhand. One opponent struggles with low balls. The net player keeps over-poaching.
Find one repeatable pattern you can actually see.
MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT
Do not change everything at once.
YOU CAN CHANGE
Your target, your court position, your formation, your serve, your shot selection, your comunication with partner
Make one clear adjustment based on the pattern you found.

WHAT'S TRENDING IN FITNESS: 2026
As a personal trainer, I always enjoy discussing the latest fitness trends and fads with you, especially since out community is so well versed in the industrys ever changing developments
Here is an overview of four of the most popular topics in 2026.
Please note that you should consult with your physician before trying any new supplements or medications
GLP-1 INJECTIONS & PILLS
(OZEMPIC, WEGOVY, ZEPOUND)
These medications regulate blood sugar and appetite, making them the closest option we have seen to a weight-loss pill However, they are costly, carry side effects ranging from gastrointestinal issues to muscle loss, and have unknown long-term effects.
If you decide to try them, it is crucial to incorporate strength and cardiovascular training to offset the muscle loss
I still reccommend the traditional approach of a balanced diet and regular exercise.

WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY DEVICES
(SMART WATCHES, FITBIT, OURA RINGS)
These affordable, user-friendly devices track metrics like daily steps, heart rate, glucose levels, and sleep patterns They can also serve as safety features For example, GPS-enabled fall detection can alert emergency services if needed.
This technology has significantly improved the fitness industry
3.
CREATINE
This natrually occuring compound boosts energy at the cellular level, improving training capacity and physical results Recent research also suggests it can enhance cognitive function
Creatine monohydrate is a tasteless relatively harmless powder that can be mixed into any fluid, though it should be avoided by individuals with kidney issues If you take it, be sure to increase your water intake to avoid dehydration
4.
ACTIVE AGING & RECOVERY
With baby boomers entering their golden years, today's fitness programs focus heavily on fall prevention, maintaining independence, and functional movements I work with clients every day on practical skills like easily getting up from a chair and staying steady. Recovery is equally important, as rest, stretching, and yoga are keys to healthy living Massage, heat and cold therapy, and saunas are also highly popular right now
