2026 Powerline Genetics PAP Tested Bull Sale

Page 1

March 7th, 2026 // Castle Dale, UT // 1pm MT

Welcome to the sale!

It is an exciting time to be in the cattle business as we experience record highs within the industry, and incredible optimism of the future!

As a seedstock group, we strive to continue to breed cattle that work in a variety of environments and programs, with a focus on performance and quality - both on paper and on the hoof. When you study this set, you will see that they excel in both fields.

We spend hours pouring through pedigrees and records to determine what bulls will be selected for the trip to Laramie at 7,200 feet in the fall. This year’s group had a successful PAP rate of 94%, which is virtually unheard of. We contribute the impressive scores to proper management from birth to weaning, impecable health protocols, and genetics that are capable of withstanding even the toughest of conditions. This year’s set all offer PAP scores of 43 and under.

As you begin to evaluate the catalog, you will find some new sire groups such as the Rawhides and Momentums that are impressive on numerous fronts, as well as the popular Bedrocks, Bold Rulers and Arrowheads of years past. This is the deepest set we have had to offer in the last eight years, and we are excited for you to see them on sale day!

If you have any questions leading up to the sale about the bulls or the program, be sure to reach out. We enjoy cattle conversations and are looking forward to our annual trip out West.

Sincerely,

The Powerline Team

Welcome to our annual Magnuson Livestock & Powerline Genetics bull sale,

We are fortunate to be in a strong time for the cattle industry. The market is higher than it has ever been, creating an excellent opportunity for cattle producers. With today’s markets, many of us are able to retain heifers, strengthen our herds, and make progress toward paying down ranch debt while conditions are favorable.

By keeping heifers, we can build younger cow herds with improved genetics. The Powerline bulls we offer are designed to sire the kind of replacement females any cattleman would be proud to build a cow herd around—productive, functional, and built to last.

That said, ranching is never easy. We continue to work around the challenges that weather presents. While we have experienced years of good grass, 2025 brought one of the driest seasons we have ever seen. Even so, it is reassuring to know that with good management and perseverance, we can make it through difficult times. As we move through the remaining winter months, we remain hopeful for the moisture we need.

The Magnuson family would like to sincerely thank all of you for your friendship, trust, and continued support. We appreciate the opportunity to provide quality bulls that fit a wide range of programs and to assist you in marketing your feeder calves. Your loyalty and partnership mean a great deal to us.

Thank you, and we look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

Every year at the conclusion of our sale season we ask, “What can we improve on?” “What do we need to do in order to keep moving forward?” It’s because of those questions, that we decided to add polled status testing to our catalog. We have marketed several bulls over the years that were polled by their pedigrees. We have now expanded on that foundation. All bulls selling have been tested, and they are identified as either homo polled or hetero polled in their pedigree boxes. The polled gene is a recessive trait. This means both parents must be a carrier, or possess that gene in order for a calf to be born horned. Homo polled means the bull does not carry the gene, while hetero polled means the bull does carry the horn gene.

All bulls selling have had weights taken at birth, weaning and yearling and have been recorded with the American Simmental Assoication (ASA). Those values combined with each bull’s DNA, provide Geneomically Enhanced EPDs. Those EPDs are updated every week, therefore there may be slight variations in data from the time the catalog went to print and what has been updated on sale day. EPDs were pulled for the catalog the week of February 1st. Please note there are several embryo transfer animals in this offering. Those are designated with an ET in their birthweight data. Those bulls were raised by a recip, and therefore their data is a reflection on their environment and the recip cow’s condition and milking ability. Please reference those bulls’ EPDs for a more accurate prediction on their breeding potential. There are also bulls in this offering that were born a twin. Those individuals are identified with TW in their birthweight data.

% Simmental is an animal’s Simmental and Commercial Simmental (when applicable) breed composition. PB=Purebred Simmental Transfers are done by request. Please contact Bobbi if you would like your purchase transfered to your Simmental account.
