Welcome from BMX New Zealand It is my pleasure, on behalf of BMX New Zealand, to welcome riders, families, officials, volunteers and supporters to the 2026 BMX New Zealand North Island Titles hosted by Hawera BMX Club in the beautiful Taranaki region. The North Island Titles are one of the premier events on our BMX racing calendar, bringing together competitors from across New Zealand to showcase their skill, determination and passion for our sport. This major event is an opportunity not only to compete at the highest level, but also to strengthen the friendships and connections that make the BMX community so special. Adding to the excitement of will be the Mighty 11 (M11) Test Team competition against Australia, providing a unique opportunity for some of our most promising younger riders to represent New Zealand with pride and continue the proud trans-Tasman rivalry that has become a highlight of our BMX calendar. BMX racing in New Zealand continues to thrive because of the dedication of our clubs, volunteers, officials, coaches and families. Events of this calibre are only possible through the countless hours contributed by people who are committed to providing opportunities for riders of all ages and abilities. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Hawera BMX Club and their team of volunteers for their hard work and commitment in bringing this event to life.

Chris Greenough Chairman BMX New Zealand
Welcome On behalf of the Taranaki Region, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the BMX New Zealand North Island Titles here in Hāwera. It’s fantastic to see so many riders, families, officials, volunteers, and supporters from across the country coming together for this special event. A special welcome and thank you to everyone who has travelled long distances to be here. We appreciate the time, effort, and commitment it takes to support our sport, and we’re delighted you’ve made the journey to Hāwera. A huge thank you also goes to our volunteers and officials. Events like this simply would not happen without your dedication, hard work, and willingness to give your time. Your contribution to our sport is deeply appreciated by everyone here. To the Hāwera BMX Club, congratulations on preparing such an outstanding venue for this event. I would like to acknowledge the incredible transformation of this track and the club’s facilities over the past two years. The investment, careful planning, and countless volunteer hours have created a facility that the
Hāwera BMX Club can be immensely proud of. It is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a club works together with a shared vision, and it is fitting that these facilities are now hosting a BMXNZ event of this calibre. I would also like to acknowledge BMX New Zealand, our event sponsors, and everyone who has contributed behind the scenes to make this weekend possible. Your support plays a vital role in delivering opportunities like this for our riders and the wider BMX community. To all our competitors, we wish you every success over the weekend. Ride hard, ride fair, support one another, and most importantly, enjoy the experience. Thank you all for being here, have a fantastic weekend of racing and once again, welcome to Taranaki and welcome to Hāwera.
Best Regards
Dean Hickey Region Coordinator Taranaki Region
Welcome On behalf of Hawera BMX Club, it is my pleasure to welcome all riders, families, supporters and officials to the 2026 BMXNZ North Island Championships. We are incredibly proud to host this event here in Hawera and to showcase both our club and the wider Taranaki region. We hope everyone enjoys the racing, the atmosphere and the opportunity to catch up with friends from across the BMX community. This event carries special meaning for our club. Our late former president, Graeme Schimanski had great vision and passion for Hawera BMX and his leadership continues to inspire us. Much of what we are proud to present this weekend has been built on the foundations he helped create. His presence remains strong within our club, and we know he will be watching over us with pride.
Major BMXNZ events like this take an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. I would like to sincerely thank our committee, volunteers, officials, sponsors and supporters who have contributed their time, skills and resources to make this weekend possible. Your support is greatly appreciated and is a big part of what makes our sport so special. To every rider lining up on the gate, enjoy the experience, trust your preparation and give it everything you have. We look forward to seeing some fast, exciting and competitive racing throughout the weekend. Thank you for joining us in Hawera. We hope you enjoy the 2026 North Island Titles and take home some great memories from your time in Taranaki.
