Msgr. Rick Stansberry President
Dear Athletic Supporters:
Thank you very much for you support and prayers for all of our Irish sports teams. In our 76 -year history, athletics has always been an important part of our school in addition to great academics.
One of the great things that athletics does is it teaches the young people about working together as a team, which will serve them well in college, career and even family life. The support you give enables our coaches and athletes to have much of what they need to compete and play well.
Another great aspect of athletics is that it can really rally school spirit. For 76 years, the teams have had fans from among the parents, student body, and alumni cheering them on. This can be a great source of building community and school spirit. I pray that all of our athletes have great seasons and that they play well, always remembering the ultimate victory is in heaven.
May God bless all of our coaches, athletes, fans and staff as we begin another great year of Irish athletics.
God bless Msgr. Rick

A Prayer Athletesfor
God grant us the grace to play to the best of our ability and in a spirit of healthy competition. Watch over us, keep us safe and help us to always remember the ultimate victory is over the cross for everlasting life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dr. Andrew Worthington Principal
Since joining the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association in 1968, athletic success at Bishop McGuinness has been a cornerstone of a comprehensive Catholic college preparatory education. From 1968 to the present, the school has won 113 state championships, most recently in Cheer in the fall of 2024. This strong athletic heritage is not just seen in state championships. It is seen every day in the commitment of our student-athletes, who balance academic excellence with athletic performance under the guidance and direction of a highly qualified coaching staff. We are exceptionally proud of our athletic achievements over the years, which are built on the foundation of faith, family, and academics.
We are a Catholic college preparatory school; our focus on a Christ-centered education provides the foundation for success in college and beyond. Individualized academic plans for every student create pathways that prepare students for life after high school. As the Archdiocesan school, Bishop McGuinness welcomes students from Goldsby to Guthrie and from El Reno to Harrah. We are immensely proud of our students and the talented faculty that work with them every day. This past spring, 359 students took 725 Advanced Placement exams in 26 subjects, with 86% of students earning a passing score of 3 or higher. Of these, 156 students were named AP Scholars, the largest number in school history.
All children are made in the image of God, and we are now in the second year of the Rother program. This program allows us to serve all children in our community, including students with extensive support needs. This non-diploma track is to educate students with intellectual disabilities, preparing them for transitional programs offered by universities nationwide. With a qualified faculty trained in special education, academic plans that prepare students for college are now in place for every student in the school. All courses at Bishop McGuinness are college-preparatory and have high academic standards that encourage students to reach their potential.
The school’s mission statement asks our students to be “a person for others.” This requires them to answer a difficult question: “What are you willing to do without asking for anything in return?” Our students rise to that question with their actions in the classroom, in athletics, in the community, and walking the halls of the school. I am exceptionally proud of the student body and our faculty, as every day I see the care, compassion, cooperation, and Christian love exemplified by Jesus Christ in their day-to-day life.
I look forward to seeing you at all our activities, from athletic competitions to our fine arts programs and campus ministry events. You will see our students flourish and thrive in the Christ-centered education that Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School offers.
Go Irish!
Yours in Christ, Andrew Worthington

Mr. John Hamilton Athletic Director

Dear Irish Faithful,
Welcome to Clement Pribil Stadium and Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. On behalf of the coaches, student-athletes, and my fellow faculty and staff, thank you for your support of Irish Athletics.
Our coaches are proud of our tradition of excellence and their roles in our noble mission to form “people for others.” We have been loyal members of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association since 1968 and lucky enough to bring home 113 state championships!
Please support our mission and our membership by cheering positively for the Irish rather than against our guests. Remember these sportsmanship guidelines courtesy of the National Federation of High School Sports:
1. Show respect for self and others at all times.
2. Show respect for the officials. Good sportsmanship implies the willingness to accept and abide by the decisions of the officials.
3. Know, understand and appreciate the rules of the contest. Good sportsmanship suggests the importance of conforming to the spirit as well as the letter of the rules.
4. Maintain self-control at all times. Prevent the desire to win from overcoming rational behavior.
5. Recognize and appreciate skill in performance regardless of team affiliation.
Go Big Green!
John Hamilton Athletic Director
