What time is it? The Swiss photographer Karine Bauzin has uttered this phrase so often over the past ten years that she even invented a new verb to suit, to «whatimisit». Ten years ago, she decided to combine her two passions, watches and encounters. She imagined asking strangers she met on her travels to tell her the time, whilst spontaneously taking a photo of them raising their wrist to look at their watch.
Her project focuses on the perception of time through the repetition of a familiar gesture. A book and an exhibition entitled «What Time Is It?», launched at the Watches and Wonders Geneva Salon 2023, recounted the photographer’s question for passing time.
