$GAIN A prediction designed to identify animals that are more profitable in the feedlot by converting feed into weight. $Gain is a combination of DMI and ADG, where ADG is weighted by the value of a pound of gain, and DMI is negatively weighted by the cost of a pound of dry matter. $Gain is expressed as the dollar difference per head per day during the post-weaning period.
Total Herd Enrollment (THE): We are proud participants of the American Simmental Association’s Total Herd Enrollment (THE) program. THE enhances the impact and utility of our data submitted for genetic evaluation, which in turn improves the EPD accuracy across our whole operation. By submitting data on our dams and entire calf crops, more accurate genetic predictions are received by us and our customers.
Calf Crop Genomics (CCG): We are proud participants of the American Simmental Association’s Calf Crop Genomics (CCG) program. By genotyping our entire calf crop, we’re able to use genomically enhanced EPD in our selection decisions and reduce selection bias, which adds value to our customers’ decisions. As an added bonus, by participating in CCG means every bull in this offering has been parentage tested.

Red baldy alert! M404 is surely one you’d want in your front pasture. This Charger daughter is one that has caught my eye for a while. She is long and stout and sound on the move. I’m not even sure where to start on this bull. I could make a list of the high selling heifers he has produced. I could make a list of the productive cows in our herd. I could make list of the herd sires he has sired. It’s hard to put into words what this bull has done for our operation. We finally had the chance to collect him and I thought it was fitting, at our 3rd Annual sale, to offer this limited amount of semen on him. He has been a standout bull from the day he hit the ground and has been nothing but a success for us. Dark Moon is big and rugged and everything you want in a bull. I have been fortunate in the connections I’ve made in this business. Ruble found this bull at Neidig’s a few years ago and offered to be partners on him. Last year at the 2nd Blue Ridge Classic, we took the opportunity to be majority owners on him after selling several heifers bred to him. I think this bull has a big place not only in our operation but the Simmental breed as a whole. This solid red purebred is one that is an eye catcher for sure. We have been impressed with his first set of calves are excited to use him more. We had the opportunity this summer to collect him and I want to share him with the entire Simmental breed. He is big footed, stout and sound. He has ton of rib shape and dimension and always looks his best. We are offering 100 units of semen, sold a minimum of 5 units with the option to take more.
