Francois Matarasso will have a conversation about transition, community and participatory art. He will explore new ways to create momentum for connection and ask us to consider how we can imagine making connections real, why we’re doing it, and what will happens as a result. Supper Imagining connection through a Show and Tell (5 slides / 5 minute presentations) taking place in 2 thematic groups: 1. Faced with the challenge of globalisation what could localization mean for communities in transition and what role community arts can play? [Convenor: Una Ruddock and Theresa O’Donoghue] 2. Imagining how a community under regeneration can produce a parade to wave goodbye and say hello to a new community.[Convenor: Ed Carroll]

Breakfast CREATIVE WORKSHOPS continue working in 2 thematic groups to work on creative charter. 11.30 Break 12.00 – 1.30pm Process: To take away from these workshops something that could resonate from Glencree into 2/3 other practice actions/events/processes that can be self-organised from within each strand of activity 1.30pm Lunch 2.30pm -3.30pm Signing the Culture Contact Charter Communities in Transition for 2017/2018 __________________________ When & Where Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Glencree, Co Wicklow Costs are: 40 Euro waged, 20 Euro unwaged (incl. children), This includes the accommodation for 1 night in a shared room and vegetarian food. Accommodation is only guaranteed for 30 persons. Brilliant childcare available (please let us know in advance). It continues to facilitate workshops; deliver training programmes, in communities, schools and third level institutions. It continues to organise Theatre of the Oppressed capacity within Ireland and invites international Theatre of the Oppressed Facilitators. In Glencree, Ann Loftus, John Farragher, Jim and Marie Aherne and others will help coproduce the action.
Una Ruddock is the founder of Eco Ear, a community radio programme and education project, on Responding to Climate Change, a member of South Dublin Public Participation Network (Environment Pillar) and a student of Gaia Education Design for Sustainability. Theresa O’Donoghue is a member of the Clare Public Participation Network and has worked to convene an independent public participation body to engage with Clare County Council. She is involved with Clare Environmental Network called Transition Clare and she coordinates the People’s Energy Charter and a member of An Taisce’s Climage Change Committee. Francois Matarasso is a writer and researcher interested how people create and interact with culture. In recent times he began to explore a series of projects that explore undervalued areas of cultural life. He has worked in many countries and holds honorary professorships at Robert Gordon University (Scotland) and Griffith University (Australia). He is current writing a book and has established a website called A Restless Art about community and participatory art today. More to be added...
