After months of heavy coats, early sunsets, and comfort foods, spring arrives like a gentle nudge from nature saying, “Let’s try this again.” The days get brighter, the air feels lighter, and suddenly even your sneakers seem to be calling your name. If winter had you in hibernation mode (no judgment), now is the perfect time to reawaken your body and boost your energy. Movement has a powerful way of setting the tone for our daily energy, mood, and motivation.

From Hibernation to Activation
Winter encourages rest—and hopefully, we got it. Spring invites us back to putting some pep in our step, but that doesn’t mean you need to overhaul your routine. A mindset shift from “I should exercise” to “I get to move” can make all the difference.
Think of spring as a renewal, not a restart. Small, consistent actions—like taking a daily walk, stretching in the morning, or standing more throughout the day—build momentum naturally and sustainably. Notice the things already in your schedule that come easily; build from those places and watch your activity gain its own momentum.
Flexibility and Balance: Your Spring Tune-Up
Before jumping into higher-energy activities, it’s smart to give your body a gentle tune-up. Flexibility and balance routines help prevent injury, improve coordination, and make everyday movement feel smoother.
Simple practices include:
• Hitting the foam roller before a workout (or while watching TV)
• Gentle stretching and mobility work for hips, calves, shoulders, and spine
• Standing on one foot while brushing your teeth, doing laundry, or standing at the stovetop
Think of this as spring cleaning for your joints— less stiffness, more freedom.
Spring isn’t just about moving more; it’s also a great time to refresh what’s on your plate. As produce becomes more locally abundant, aim to add more color, hydration, and whole foods to your meals. I love getting a weekly farmers market box delivered to my door. It’s a gentle push to add kale to my morning eggs, learn how to roast a Japanese sweet potato, and try a new-to-me variety of orange.
Spring doesn’t demand perfection—just participation. The goal isn’t to become a completely different person by summer; it’s to feel a little stronger, lighter, and more energized than you did in winter.
Your body has been patiently waiting for spring—and now it’s ready to bloom right along with the daffodils.

It’s that time of the year again, time for Braves baseball!
After the last two injury plagued and disappointing seasons what can possibly go wrong here in 2026? Well, check that, let’s not tempt fate. Braves baseball is back and that is a really good thing. But what are we looking at this season?
Well, the boys from the Battery should be good but how good? Before we dive in head first like a Ronald Acuna stolen base let’s address the negative. Spencer Schwellenbach was attempting to come back from his 2025 injury and unfortunately in early February had to be placed on the 60-day injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow. That same week Marcell Ozuna left as a free agent for Pittsburgh. So yes a couple of key cogs from the last few seasons will be missed here in the early going.
There are plenty of positives heading into this season. Spencer Strider should be healthy and team up with 2024 Cy Young award winner Chris Sales becoming an extremely competent 1-2 punch. An also healthy seeming Reynaldo Lopez hopefully will return somewhat close to his sub 2.00 2024 era and we saw what Grant Holmes could be at times last year as he made some massive strides throwing quality starts in three of his last five outings before the injury shut him down.
time. I expect a lot from the best Venezuelan ballplayer on the planet. Add in Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Michael Harris, Jurickson Profar and the reigning National League Rookie of the Year in Drake Baldwin and there is plenty of hope and possibility in 2026.
“You’re going to have guys get off to slow starts like we had last year, you’re going to have injuries like we had in years past but we feel from a talent standpoint this is the deepest group of position players that we’ve had so I think the pressure on all these guys to be their best is not as great,” said General Manager Alex Anthopoulos.

Meanwhile, the bullpen, which will once again be anchored by a solid closer in Raisel Iglesias, has the potential to be really really good. We could be that team where if you take a lead into the seventh inning the game is virtually in the bag.
As for the offense, well, it may not set records like back in 2023 when the team clubbed a Major League record 307 home runs but Atlanta returns a lot of talent and should be far better than the underachieving last few seasons. Ronald Acuna won that 2023 MVP and should be as healthy as he has been in a long
Of course the once again loaded Los Angeles Dodgers are the clear favorites to win it all. They did it last year and are even better this season after signing Kyle Tucker to form an insane lineup that already boasted Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez among others. Add in a pitching staff that was beyond beaten up last year and we could be looking at one of the greatest teams of all-time. Crazy but true.
As for the National League East the Braves, Phillies are Mets are all extremely even. Either of the three could win the division and either of the three could finish in third place. Atlanta and Philadelphia have a season win total in Vegas of 89.5 while New York is predicted to be one game better at 90.5.
The bottom line is that the Braves can be very good and go deep into the playoffs. But if the injury bug bites for a third straight season things can definitely go south. New manager Walt Weiss will be just fine after being passed the torch from good friend Brian Snitker and in the end this Braves team is exciting and ready compete for the long haul!

The Story of Governors Medspa and Concierge Medicine

eventeen years ago, a Florida Gator met a Georgia Bulldog in medical school—and what could have been a friendly rivalry became the foundation of one of Acworth’s most respected and refined medical practices. Drs. Heath and Ashley Trowell, husband-and-wife physicians with a shared passion for family medicine, completed their residency at UT Medical Center before setting their sights on something more personal: building a practice rooted in community, integrity, and elevated care.
From those early days as a traditional family medical practice to the distinguished presence it holds today, Governors Medspa and Concierge has evolved with both intention and grace.
A PRACTICE
ON
After relocating to Acworth, the Trowell’s opened their doors with a simple but powerful mission: to serve the community and give back, while remaining at the forefront of modern medicine. Their philosophy has always balanced warmth with innovation—offering deeply personal care while continuously advancing their expertise in medical treatments, aesthetics, wellness, and preventive care.
They are not physicians who stand still. Medicine evolves, and so do they. Three years ago, that commitment to excellence materialized beautifully in the form of a stunning new facility—an elegant expansion that reflects the sophistication of their services. The building itself is a statement: refined, welcoming, and designed to elevate every patient’s experience.

MEDICINE & AESTHETICS CONVERGE Governors Medspa and Concierge is not simply a MedSpa—it is a physician-operated medical and aesthetic destination. Unlike many aesthetic clinics, Governors is led by real medical doctors and supported by certified, highly trained staff. Safety, precision, and clinical integrity are never afterthoughts; they are the foundation.
Yet what truly sets Governors apart is the seamless blend of medical expertise with a luxurious, sensory experience.
From the moment you step through the doors, you are greeted not only by a professional team but by an atmosphere carefully curated for comfort and indulgence. The subtle signature Aroma360 fragrance welcomes you. The beauty bar offers champagne and luxurious products, setting a tone that feels more boutique retreat than medical appointment. It is healthcare—reimagined.
Patients have access to cutting-edge aesthetic procedures and injectables, alongside advanced hormone therapy, peptide treatments, and comprehensive preventive care programs designed to support vitality at every stage of life. The focus is not merely cosmetic; it is holistic.
As the Trowells often remind their patients, “Aging doesn’t have to make you feel and look bad.” At Governors, aging is approached proactively—with science, sophistication, and strategy. The tools are here not just to preserve appearance, but to preserve energy, confidence, and overall wellness.
WITH THE COMMUNITY
For Drs. Heath and Ashley Trowell, Acworth/Kennesaw is more than a business location— it is home. Over the past 17 years, they have watched families grow, children become adults, and neighbors become lifelong patients. Their own children have grown up alongside the community they serve.
That shared journey is the heart of Governors.
Patients are not numbers on a schedule; they are extended family. The Trowell’s have cultivated a practice where medical excellence meets genuine connection—where advanced protocols coexist with heartfelt conversation.
The Florida Gator and the Georgia Bulldog may have started as rivals, but together they built something enduring: a practice defined by trust, innovation, and unmistakable Southern elegance.
And as Governors Medspa and Concierge looks toward the future, one thing remains certain—Acworth/Kennesaw’s wellness is in exceptionally capable hands for many years to come.

n a sunny afternoon at Varenita assisted living in Cobb County, Georgia, the common room buzzed with excitement. About ten “Chair Rockettes”—Brandy’s affectionate name for her spirited senior ladies—sat in chairs, slip-on tap shoes shining. Family members, kids, and grandkids filled the seats. Brandy cranked up an oldie, and the room erupted in rhythmic *shuffle-step*. Arms waved, legs kicked in sync, shoulders rocked gleefully. One grandma beamed as her granddaughter cheered, “Go, Nana!” and laughter rang out over the extra-enthusiastic “Nana’s” tapping to the rhythm! Tears mixed with applause—it was pure joy, a celebration of life, dance, and connection.
The Spark: Inspired by Family This passion started personally. Brandy’s father, Bobby, moved into assisted living and faced mobility challenges that dimmed his spark. Seeing the need for gentle, engaging dance activities, Brandy—owner of thriving CK DanceWorks in Dallas/Acworth—felt called to act. Her studio already guided kids ages 2–18 in recreational and competitive dance and acrobatics with a team of over 30 professionals. But seniors deserved the same joy of dance. Inspired by her dad, she started Chair Tap: seated dance classes with tap shoes, arm gestures, leg taps, and classics from Elvis to Aretha Franklin. What began as help for one grew into weekly dance classes for many.

Then there’s BeBe, one of Brandy’s favorites who passed away. Heartbroken, Brandy reached out to BeBe’s children to share how remarkable their mother had been in class— always enthusiastic, full of spirit. In return, they shared stories of BeBe’s extraordinary life as a registered nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), where she had dedicated years to helping children recover from illness and injury. The revelation deepened Brandy’s admiration: BeBe had spent her career bringing healing and hope to the young, and in her later years, dance brought healing and joy back to her.
Brandy treasures these bonds: comforting families after a student passes or breaks a hip, discovering layers of lives well-lived. She adores the grumpy men who start by shrugging off the dance fun, only to tap feet from the back— then begrudgingly join. Holiday themes, props, Christmas Socials—every detail warms her heart. She and her team bring classes to facilities in Cobb and Paulding Counties, but it’s never about the money. The goodwill, the stories, and the pure joy of seeing Seniors thrive through dance are the true reward. “You never age out of CK!” she says—and she lives it.
About Brandy Moss and CK DanceWorks

The Benefits: Dance for Body, Mind, and Spirit Chair Tap delivers real results through the power of dance. Gentle footwork strengthens legs, ankles, and core while improving motor skills, balance, and coordination (reducing fall risk). Arm movements enhance upper-body flexibility and grace. Cognitively, learning dance steps, following rhythms, and syncing patterns to music sharpens memory, focus, and sequencing—vital for fighting decline. It boosts mood, cuts isolation, and builds social bonds: strangers become friends, and everyone leaves uplifted. Brandy’s “Chair Rockettes” gain confidence, purpose, and cardiovascular perks from this joyful dance. At the studio, free senior fitness classes have a waiting list; in facilities, they’re therapeutic and fun.
Brandy often reminds her students, “You’re never too old to learn something new!”—and they prove it every class.
Best of all? Zero “dance mom” drama—no costume rivalries or side-eye, just gratitude, smiles, and the occasional sassy tap-off over who’s loudest!
The Heart: Stories That Touch the Soul
These dance classes are Brandy’s favorite part of the week, filled with moments that warm her deeply. One devoted husband brings his wife, who lives in memory care with dementia, to class every week—even though he doesn’t reside at the facility. It’s the only time she smiles anymore, her face lighting up as the music starts and her feet tap along. She can sing the lyrics to every song and does the handjive! That quiet, radiant smile is everything to him, and to Brandy.

Brandy Moss, a Marietta, Georgia native with over 35 years in dance, evolved from gifted dancer and choreographer to entrepreneur. She founded CK DanceWorks, Inc., a premier state of the art studio offering exceptional dance instruction from Boogie Babies to Adults, mentoring thousands—many now studio owners or professional dancers. Lily’s Love Scholarship & CK Cares non-profit organization has awarded over $190,000 to local youth pursuing dance at the studio.
In 2021, she launched CK YOGA for adults and seniors. This program offers over 20 weekly classes in Yoga, Pilates, Back Care, Chair Yoga, and more. Her Chair Tap program aligns perfectly with her mission of inspiring dance and wellness for all ages—building stronger communities, spreading joy, and creating meaningful impact through the transformative power of dance at every stage of life.

Every home and business has a story. Some are told through family photos, some through the people who gather there, and some through the quiet details that shape our experiences. At Beautiful Windows, we’ve spent more than two decades helping our neighbors across the Atlanta metro area bring those stories to life through custom window treatments crafted with care, integrity, and a deep sense of community.
Our company began in 2004. From an early age, Yongmi, our founder, loved beautiful fabrics and creating things with her hands. As a full time mom of four daughters, she enjoyed decorating and began fabricating Roman shades and curtains that made each room feel inviting and uniquely personal. When I (Louis) stepped into full-time ministry, she transformed our home into a showroom and began advertising within our subdivision. She helped neighbors understand what would work best for their windows, guided them through fabric selections, and consistently wowed them with the results.
Word spread quickly. Soon she partnered with a few of Atlanta’s premier designers, and Beautiful Windows took off. Earning their trust, the designers began to use Beautiful Windows nearly exclusively, not only for their clients’ homes, but for their own. Beautiful Windows became known for expert craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and outcomes that exceeded expectations. As the business grew, we expanded our offerings and partnered with brands that shared our values, giving customers a full assortment of blinds, shades, shutters, drapery, and home automation solutions. What started as a

passion for fabrics and creativity is quickly becoming a trusted name in window coverings across the Atlanta metro area.
We believe window treatments are more than décor. They influence how a room welcomes the morning, how a family unwinds in the evening, and how a business presents itself to the world. Every product we offer is chosen for its durability, beauty, and ability to enhance everyday living.
But what truly defines Beautiful Windows isn’t just about quality products and service. It’s character. As we look to honor God in our work and interactions, our guiding principle comes from Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.” Therefore, with each window project we strive to earn a good name through honesty, consistent WOW experiences, and treating people the right way, every time. That conviction shapes how we serve, how we communicate, and how we stand behind our work.
As a family-owned business rooted in Cobb County, we see every project as a neighbor inviting us into their story. We bring our showroom to you, listen first, recommend with integrity, and install with the same care we’d expect in our own home.
Our commitment to community goes far beyond the work we do. A portion of every project is reinvested into causes that matter from local organizations supporting families, youth, and seniors, to global missions, church initiatives, and individuals facing hardship. We believe generosity is part of doing business the right way. When you choose Beautiful Windows, you’re not just improving your home; you’re helping strengthen lives both here and around the world.
At Beautiful Windows, LLC, our mission is simple: serve with excellence, protect our good name, and leave every space better than we found it. Because when light enters a room, something special happens — and when a community invests in one another, something even brighter begins to grow.

In today’s competitive workforce environment, culture matters more than ever. Companies that intentionally invest in their people — supporting professional growth and promoting healthy workplace practices — are the ones that attract and retain top talent. The Cobb Chamber and SelectCobb are launching the Employer of Excellence certification program recognizing businesses that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to employee well-being, engagement and long-term retention.
On March 30, applications open and businesses are invited to submit information on workplace flexibility, employee engagement and development, employee benefit packages, workplace safety and more. Once the application window closes on May 22, applications are reviewed and scored by a committee of human resources professionals. Based on committee scoring, applicants will earn a Gold, Silver or Bronze Employer of Excellence Certification. Each certified business will be announced at the Economic Development Summit on Aug. 26 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Certified businesses

will each receive a media toolkit, including digital badges, press release templates and other items to help promote their certified status.
For more information about this program, email Katie Scott Troy, Economic Development Manager, at ktroy@cobbchamber.org, or visit cobbchamber. org/employerexcellence.
