Cranbourne Stone began with our Managing Director, Howard, who entered the swimming pool industry at 17 and soon recognised the need for higher-quality pool surrounds. With more than 35 years of experience and with the support of his wife Jo, whose expertise spans decades, Cranbourne Stone Ltd was founded.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve grown from producing precast concrete copings to offering bespoke cutting, profiling and supplying an extensive range of stone and porcelain sourced from over ten countries.

Now entering our second generation, Cranbourne Stone is being carried forward by our daughter Loren, supported by our loyal, long-standing team who truly feel like one big family.

With fresh ideas and exciting ventures ahead, we’re continually expanding our product offering — not only for swimming pool surrounds but for all types of landscaping and internal projects.

Our Site Template Service is designed to remove guesswork from complex installations. Using our extensive building knowledge and the latest digital technology, we deliver components that fit perfectly — even in the most challenging environments.

We attend site with our advanced digital laser measuring equipment to capture precise measurements of freeform swimming pools, irregular walling, and other non-standard shapes. This technology allows us to accurately record complex curves, angles, and variations that traditional measuring methods simply can’t achieve.

The captured data is then taken back to our office, where it is converted into a detailed CAD drawing. This drawing forms the exact cutting path for our state-of-the-art waterjet cutting machine, ensuring every piece is cut with exceptional accuracy to suit its specific application.

Before cutting begins, a full drawing is sent to you for approval, giving complete confidence that everything is correct. Once approved, each component is precision-cut, carefully numbered, and prepared for dispatch.

Your order is delivered with a detailed numbered layout plan, allowing every piece to fit together seamlessly — just like a puzzle — for faster installation, reduced waste, and a flawless finished result.

600 SERIES MIX PACK

This pack contains our 4 most popular sizes (900 x 600, 600 x 600, 600 x 290 & 290 x 290mm).

The mixed pack is perfectly suitable for all projects whether large or small – always maintaining attractive proportions. The sizes within the packs enable a variety of random patterns.

RANDOM LENGTH PACK

To compliment our Danebury Natural Stone Coping, we have developed the Heritage mixed paving pack, which provides an easy to lay, attractive repeating modular pattern in one convenient pack. Each 16.08m2 Heritage mixed pack (coverage 16.98m2) has 5 modules per pack.

Fixed Width x Random Length paving packs consist of a fixed width of either 560mm or 600mm x random length. Generally, the lengths vary between 300-900mm, these length vary depending on stone type.

Laying Guidelines - External

The following guidance is provided by Cranbourne Stone for general information purposes only.

GENERAL PREPARATION

All porcelain paving should be solid bedded to ensure full support across the entire slab. Spot bedding or dot-and-dab methods should be avoided, as they may lead to staining, reduced performance, or failure. Bedding depths, falls, and construction details may vary depending on application, ground conditions, and load requirements. Installers must always follow current British Standards, manufacturer recommendations, and recognised codes of practice.

CUTTING & LEVELLING

Tiles should be cut using a suitable diamond blade, ideally with water cooling. Tiles should be levelled and may be gently tapped into place using a rubber mallet.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION & INSTALLATION METHODS

External porcelain paving may be installed using one of the following methods, depending on site conditions and project requirements:

Option 1 - Screed-Based Installation

Where external works continue from internal tiling, a structural concrete screed should be installed in accordance with current standards and formed with appropriate falls for drainage. Tiles may then be fixed using a flexible, exteriorgrade thick-bed tile adhesive. Expansion joints should be incorporated in line with current standards and filled with a suitable exteriorgrade sealant.

Option 2 - Traditional Slab Installation

For slab-style installations, a well-compacted granular sub-base should be constructed to suit ground conditions and anticipated loads. Falls should be formed to allow effective drainage. Slabs should be laid on a full mortar bed, typically 30–50 mm thick, using a suitable sand and cement mix in accordance with relevant standards.

All installation works must be carried out by a qualified and competent installer, and responsibility for correct preparation, installation, and compliance with all relevant standards rests solely with the installer and/or contractor.

Laying Guidelines - Internal

(Including Underfloor Heating)

The following guidance is provided by Cranbourne Stone for general information purposes only.

All tiles must be installed on a sound, flat, and stable substrate using a full adhesive bed; spot fixing or dot-and-dab methods should not be used. Substrate preparation, adhesive selection, bed depths, and joint widths will vary depending on site conditions, and installers must always follow current British Standards, manufacturer instructions, and recognised codes of practice.

Tiles should be cut using a suitable diamond blade, ideally water-cooled. Thin tiles should be levelled by hand, with thicker tiles adjusted using a rubber mallet if required.

Tiles may be installed onto a fully cured concrete screed using a flexible, cementbased adhesive, or onto timber or boarded floors where a suitable tile backer board or uncoupling membrane has been correctly installed. Movement joints must be incorporated in accordance with current standards and at changes of plane.

UNDERFLOOR HEATING

Underfloor heating systems must be fully installed, tested, and switched off prior to tiling. These should always be used in conjunction with a decoupling membrane when tiling over UFH, to prevent tiles cracking. A flexible adhesive and grout should also be used when installing. A natural finish water based impregnating sealer. Minimal change to surface character. Helps protect against staining. The treated surfaces strongly repel water, oil and grease. This product allows surfaces to breathe. Ideal for protecting porous surfaces that do not have a damp proof course. This product is non film forming.
