French Cuisine – 04/10/2017 The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a French Cuisine Workshop for the students of Lady Doak College (French Department) - Madurai on 04.10.2017 at 9.30 a.m. The chief guest, Chef, Nethaji Dasarathan , Food and Beverage Director , Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines , USA, inaugurated the workshop in the presence of our Principal, Dr.P. Saravanan .In total 66 students & 2 faculty members from the Department of French participated in the workshop. Mr. C.Sureshkumar, Head of the Department gave the welcome address. The Chief Guest, Chef. Nethaji Dasarathan, described the origin of French cuisine and its importance. He demonstrated the method for preparing four delicious dishes. The students actively participated and also prepared two delicacies which were appreciated by everybody. The day was fruitful for them and they gained insight into the innovative world of French Cuisine. They were provided with Participation Certificates and were bid adieu at 3.00 p.m.

Campus Recruitment Training As Part of Campus Recruitment Training, The Department of Commerce gave a special training for two days on 31-10-2017 and 0111-2017 to the students who were to attend the City Union Bank interview.The students were trained in three areas of specialization viz. Communicative English, Aptitude and Banking concepts by Mr.Sivakumar, Ms.Vichitra & Mr.Eswaran, respectively.
Faculty Development Programme The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Faculty Development Programme for the faculty members at our college campus. Dr. P. Saravanan, Principal, welcomed the gathering. The Resource Person (Chief Guest), Mr. Sandip Chothe, Training Manager, Fleet Management, Mumbai, enlightened the faculty members by explaining the various aspects of teaching and learning processes. Mr. C. Sureshkumar, Head, Dept of MCHM, the Programme Co-ordinator, addressed the faculty members and expressed the reasons for organizing this programme. 3
CHEFTASTIC - Cookery Competition The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Inter Department Cooking competition “CHEFTASTIC�. The students of various departments participated in the programme.The Programme Co-ordinator was Mr. Anand, Asst Professor. The Principal inaugurated the competition following which the Head of the Department welcomed the team members and explained the rules and regulations of the cookery competition. The programme started enthusiastically, and the competitors came Students receiving their prize from the dignitaries. out with innovative dishes. Chef. K. Suresh, Hotel Fortune Pandian, Madurai was the chief guest and judge. The participants were provided with Participantion Certificates and the winners were awarded attractive prizes and certificates.
Inauguration of the Association Cell The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Association Cell. It includes Event Management, Food Production Association, Food and Beverage Service Association, Bakery Association and Housekeeping & Front Office Association. The Staff members nominated a few of the II & III year students as Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer of the Association Cell based on parameters such as Area of specialization, attitude, discipline, work performance, sportiveness, and punctuality. Mr. Prasanna Bashyam, III year, was selected as the Chairman, Mr. Karan Singhaal II year as the Vice Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Fazil III year as Secretary, Mr.Karthick-.II year as Joint Secretary and Mr.Thirumal Raj , II year as the Treasurer.
