The Little Royal Show was started in the late 1960s by the Fort Macleod Auction Market. It was a spin-off of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, of which Ken Hurlburt was auctioneer. Originally held during the Midnight Days in Fort Macleod, the Little Royal was a fat steer show held in the parking lot of the auction market, with many local ranchers and farmers participating. In more recent years, Bryan Mackenzie (Brylor Ranch) put on the Little Royal Show & Sale featuring Red Angus-influenced heifers. We are proud to continue marketing cattle here in Fort Macleod as Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange and are pleased to announce the Little Royal All-Breed Heifer Show & Sale! Featuring all breeds of home-raiseed, 1-iron heifers from some of the top cow herds in Canada! Champion pen will receive buckle, banner, and cash! Reserve pen will receive banner and cash! The Pen of 5 Show will be judged by 5 different members of the Cattle Industry representing: Feedlot Sector • Ranching & Farming Sector • Order Buyer • Purebred Sector The Sale will begin with the Champion & Reserve Pens of Heifers followed by the remaining Pen of 5 entries.
