Highlighting the magnificence of our area through guided walks, lectures and art events throughout Campbell River. The arts serve as an excellent entry point to better understanding not only our relationship to the natural world, but also to each other. Our social and natural worlds are inextricably enmeshed. It is through the arts, alongside environmental action, that we are able to see more clearly our place within the world and help each other navigate the challenges that lay ahead. The Art & Earth Festival will bring people together to experience, share and discover new ways of seeing in the world – ways that offer hope and understanding. Ken Blackburn Executive Director, Campbell River Arts Council Public Program Manager, Museum at Campbell River

September 20-22

The Campbell River Arts Council was established in 1970 to promote the visual and performing arts in the Campbell River area. For 49 years now, the Council has initiated numerous programs and events in support of our mission. We partner with a wide range of local social services, businesses and cultural groups to offer creative programs that address community challenges. We also manage the heritage property of the Sybil Andrews Cottage and Walter Morgan Studio. The arts have come to be viewed, through our efforts, as a major resource in contributing to Campbell River’s overall sense of community health. The Art&Earth Festival continues this tradition as we are linking arts, heritage and environmental stewardship into a three day event that is intended to celebrate the wonder of our natural world, alongside highlighting the strengths of our community.

Greenways Land Trust is the local environmental non-profit with a mission to restore, maintain and protect Campbell River’s natural areas and critical habitats, particularly ecological and recreational greenways, for the benefit of our community. Our projects focus on streamside areas, working to ensure our streams are as healthy as possible to support their diverse species, particularly salmon. Volunteers are an essential force in all our projects; we are happy to provide opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature and effect positive change. Funding for projects comes from all levels of government and are most appreciated by local donors who recognize that natural ecosystems need our appreciation to ensure their continued existence.

Established in 1967, the Museum at Campbell River Shop features work by local artists, specializing in authentic works by indigenous artists from the Pacific Northwest.
