e m o c l e W The prime industries of Northern Vancouver Island are Forestry and Fishing and our Festival is a tribute to them. The “Logger Sports” event (our heritage sport) depicts the past and present logging practices through entertaining competitions between loggers and is presently one of the largest in Canada for prize money and number of events. This year’s show will offer 3 World Championship and 8 Canadian Championships, along with 45 other Mens Novice, Intermediate & Open, Ladies Novice & Open plus Youth and Teen events, over 2 ½ days with a prize package of $44,140. Along with our regular competitions is a 4 person, 4 event “Best In The Bush” relay which is for local company competitors only. This
fun event determines which company can display the trophy and have the bragging rights for the year, as having the best Logging Sports employees. The competitors also receive cash prizes for their achievements. Campbell River Salmon Festival is proud to bring back the Highland Gathering to Campbell River and we hope this will become an annual event at SalmonFest. This exciting event will run in conjunction with our popular Logging Sports and will consist of Piping & Drumming Competitions, Dance Competitions and Heavy Games. For details go to crhighlandgathering.ca In keeping with our name, Salmon Festival, we will have a Salmon Barbeque where festival goers can enjoy a delicious salmon lunch or

supper. There will also be booths and displays with a marine theme. For the children Salmon Festival provides special areas with events tailored for the enjoyment of all ages. At the children’s area, “Thrifty Foods Kids Zone”, the young ones can enjoy a wide variety of FREE rides and events. For those who would like to relax and enjoy the talents of our local musicians brought to you by “Gateway Casinos & Entertainment” on Friday and Saturday evenings. While taking in the many events offered at the festival, check out what the local community groups and businesses in Campbell River have to offer at the Community Corner and Trade Show booths. If you get hungry or thirsty we have a good selection for Food Booths and a Beverage Garden.
