2018 WINNER RAT ROD 1936 Ford Pickup Jack & Susie Kline, Spokane WA This 1936 Ford Truck was purchased in 1993. It was a driver with a 260 cubic inch Ford small block, automatic transmission and a 9 in. rear end, which is when the challenge became apparent! Being 6’ 2 meant I didn’t fit, and so it was pushed to the back of the garage till 2013 when, during a conversation with a coworker, Kevin Richard, a plan was hatched. He would do all the metal work and fabrication by cutting the cab and firewall and sliding the cab, box, and rear end back 7 1/2 inches. He also chopped the roof 3 1/2 inches. We would then co-own the car and share driving duties, tough job. The donor car was a 76 LTD
undercover cop car, from which we harvested the motor and transmission for rebuild. Seats and steering column and other minor parts were also used. The motor was rebuilt by Marapolous racing engines in Simi Valley, CA. They stroked the ford block to a 347 cu. in and it dyno tested at 550 H.P. The automatic transmission

was rebuilt by P.A.T.C. of Bossier City, LA. Air bag was used for suspension. The truck was originally white, hiding a horrible bondo and welding job, so we stripped it down to bare metal and decided that was the cool factor we were looking for. Flat clear coated by our friend Steve Cockburn in Spokane and it was then ready

for all the accessories. Grenades, bullets, pick axes, old saw blades, a D8 caterpillar shifter handle and an old school soap dispenser for the dome light. We love driving it around town and taking it to car shows and watching all of the double takes. We will enjoy this truck for years to come.

2018 WINNER 1949 & OLDER STOCK 1931 MCLAUGHLIN 41C FRED ALEXANDER, OSOYOOS BC I became addicted to restoring older cars after completing my first one. Looking for more information, l met an old car buff named Doug Pittman who had restored hundreds of collector cars. In his garage was this ’31 McLaughlin, a very special car that I had to have. I was told it came from the Banff Jasper area resorts owned by CPRail. The new price was $2332 compared to a Ford, which sold for $600. This car has the “fat boy, anti-theft” steering wheel, a second cowl windshield, the first straight-8 engine and the first synchro-meshed transmission. I restored it from 2001-2004.

2018 WINNER STREET ROD 1933 FORD 5 WINDOW COUPE CHRIS KNIGHT, PRINCE GEORGE BC Chris Knight has dreamed of owning a 33 Ford for many years. For Christmas in 2012 his wife Jane surprised him with a billet specialty steering wheel and the go ahead to build his car. After importing the body from Illinois, Chris and Jane sought out only the best. With a hand built custom chassis from Kelowna’s Dale Gerry, 600+ HP from Fortins engines in Chilliwack, a masterpiece of an interior from none other than Lee Baxter and a tricolour paint job from Haus
of Kustims in Armstrong, this Eldon Cottingham tuned “Ford in a Ford”, 6 speed was completed in May of 2017 and spends as much time on the streets of Prince George as it does in the garage.

2018 WINNER RESTO ROD 1933 FORD BILL & CARLA CAMPBELL, VICTORIA BC I found our Canadian ‘33 Ford as a stripped-down shell back in 1989. It had the wrong front end and fiberglass fenders and was missing many parts. It took me 3 years to find enough original parts to begin the project and with the help of an incredible metal man, Al Hopkins, turned the body into a show winning all original Henry Ford steel car. It took me 8 years of nights and weekends to complete the car as I do most work myself. It’s been on the road now for 20 years and has 98,000 kms on it. Everything including paint is original to the build with
the exception of the engine. It now runs a 600 hp Chevrolet stroker, with a GM 5 speed manual transmission and a Ford 9” 4:11 rear end.

2018 WINNER 1940’S MODIFIED 1941 WILLYS 2 DOOR COUPE DAVE & BRENDA PURCHA PENTICTON BC “Purple Haze” is a 1941 Willys coupe running a blown 1958 392 Chrysler Hemi. I have owned the car for 7 years. I purchased it from Portland Oregon. The Hemi supports a BDS 8:71 blower with dual 750 Holley carburetors, a built turbo 400 transmission, a posi-traction 9” Ford rear end with 4:11 gears! The frame is powder coated silver vein/gloss black. There is a BE cool rad with dual 11-inch fans, ride tech air ride suspension and Wilwood disc brakes. It has custom leather interior, suicide doors and a 2000-watt Alpine stereo. Nothing like a Blown HEMI!

2018 WINNER 1980’S & 1990’S 1984 BUICK RIVIERA CONVERTIBLE DOUG ANDRESS, MADEIRA PARK BC This is a 1984 Buick Riviera Convertible, with 3.8 Litre V6 Turbocharged fuel injected engine, Auto 4 Speed Transmission. W/Overdrive. The car started its life at the Linden, New Jersey assembly plant as a coupe and then shipped to ASC in Lansing, Michigan for its transformation to a convertible. It was then shipped to the selling Dealer in Phoenix, AZ, Childress Buick Co. At the time these
Riviera’s were heavily optioned even before the Convertible option was added, which was $9,595.80 alone. So, in total, this car left the show room with a sticker price of $29,309. in USA dollars. WOW! The first owner was from that area and he sold
the car in the fall of 1985 with 12,000 miles on it to a fellow from Loveland, Colorado. He kept the car there as he would winter down there every year and used it only during that time. I spotted this Riviera for sale in the early spring of 1992, in the Hemming’s
Book. He had brought the car up to Loveland to sell, I phoned him and struck a deal pending mechanical inspection. At that

2018 WINNER 1950’S MOD. 1955 DESOTO FIREDOME ROD SUTTON, KENT WA In 1955 DeSoto produced 625 Firedome convertibles. It is estimated there are only 20 to 30 remaining. I started my search for one almost 15 years ago and was finally rewarded 10 years later. The car came equipped with an original 291 Hemi and 2 speed automatic. After a year and a half restoration, the car turned out better than I imagined 15 years earlier.

2018 WINNER 1950’S STOCK 1958 CHEVROLET IMPALA PATSY & IVAN KACHANOSKI, FAIRMONT HOT SPRINGS, BC This style of Chevrolet Impala convertible was a one year only build. This top of the line Impala is loaded with the famous 348 V8 Tri Power (triple carburetors) and dual exhausts. It also sports power steering, windows and brakes. A signature feature of the car is its dual rear antennas, continental kit and spinner hubcaps. This car is painted in the rare Aegean turquoise paint colour with a white convertible top and its unique triple coloured matching interior. This impala has been quoted by Speed
Vision auto analysts as the number one rebuilt 58 impala, built by the number one Impala rebuilder “Patrick’s Classy Cars”, of Phoenix, Arizona. A quality control inspector for the Chevrolet Co. inspected the car and

2018 WINNER OFFSHORE 1973 MGB WILLIAM JACOBSON, BURLINGTON WA In 1982, I purchased my 73 MGB from a fellow in Seattle who was going to part it out. Since I was looking for a donor car to install the Buick 215 V8 in, I said that I would buy the whole car minus the engine and transmission. Because I have owned the car for 36 years, it has gone through several variations over the years. Mainly because I can’t leave well enough alone! Also, I like to take on fabrication projects as well as do all of my own body work and mechanical repairs. The original Mark 1 version (1982 - 1999) included the Buick 215 aluminum V8, Muncie 4 speed transmission and a narrowed Chrysler 8 3/4” rear end with limited slip. Body modifications included flared front and rear fenders and a cowl induction
type of hood scoop that I fabricated from fiber glass. Mark 2 version (1999- 2010), I decided to update the car as well as repair/ replace some of the original body panels that were starting to show some rust. At this point I completely stripped the car and mounted it on a rotisserie. Then I replaced the floor boards and many other panels that were rusty. Also, at this time I modified the firewall which allowed me to move the engine back and down further for better weight
distribution. I also welded in a modified 67 GTO hood scoop that I cut out of a wrecked hood. Mechanical upgrades at the time included a T-5 5 speed transmission, an improved exhaust system, high compression pistons, as well as upgraded front brakes. Mark 3 version (2010-2014) I fabricated an intake manifold and blower drive system which allowed me to be able to install an Eaton M90 supercharger. The engine was changed over to custom forged pistons and a Mega-Squirt 2 fuel
injection system was also added at this time. Mark 4 version (2014- current), for improved handling and braking performance, I upgraded the front suspension to a Fast Cars Inc front end with larger Wilwood 4 wheel disc brakes. It was around this time I also upgraded the fuel injection to MegaSquirt 3 with EGT sensors for each cylinder. Since I always seem to be tinkering, I’m sure if I keep the car long enough there probably will a Mark 5 version at some point!

2018 WINNER CORVETTE 1959 CHEVROLET CORVETTE DAVE FEATHER, VICTORIA BC Dave bought this “Victoria born” 1959 black and silver Corvette, complete with silver hardtop, way back in 1980 for the grand sum of $9,500.00 (it was quite a shock for his wife Cathy when he arrived home with it without warning). The car was used as a daily driver for 12 years until she got to the point of needing a complete rebuild. After sitting neglected in a shed for many years, the time finally came to start the restoration in 2004, and in 2006 she was ready for the road. The body was stripped to
bare fiber glass and minor repairs completed and new black and silver paint applied. The worn out brown leather upholstery was replaced with factory correct red vinyl. The engine was rebuilt and the auto trans replaced with a 4 speed (factory 4 speed car). With the extra power, a 373 posi rear end was installed.
Red vinyl upholstery and wide white wall tires set off the overall appearance. The car has the rare power window option (only 597 cars of the total production 9670 were equipped with this option). This car is a real part of the family and has been used by Dave’s three boys for graduations, weddings, honeymoons, and other
important events. With 5 grand kids and one great grandchild waiting for their turn, this car will be in the family for a VERY long time.

2018 WINNER MUSTANG/COUGAR 1967 FORD MUSTANG GT JIM STREIFEL, MAPLE RIDGE BC We purchased this car from a private owner in 2003 in Chilliwack, BC. The car was in rough condition, and the paint was yellow. The first thing I did was totally dismantle the entire car inside and out. The car then sat for a few years until my wife motivated me to restore it. I began a complete restoration. My goal was to get it back to the original stock condition, which included the original paint colour of candy apple red according to the specs I acquired from
Ford. I did all the restoration and rebuilding of the motor myself in my spare time. I used the old barter system with a few friends for parts, body fine tuning, and the paint job. The restoration was made a lot simpler when I decided to manufacture a mobile
rotisserie where I could work on any angle of the car. The car was finally complete in 2010 and is complete to stock factory specs, which includes: 289 4 V engine, 4 speed manual transmission, GT equipment group, black paint stripe, upper
& lower console, deluxe steering wheel, sport deck rear seat, and AM radio/8-track stereo.

2018 WINNER PEOPLES’ CHOICE & MUSCLE MOD. 1970 PLYMOUTH CUDA LASZLO MURGULY, SURREY BC For a few years I looked high and low for a 1970 Cuda but to no avail!! I finally found one hiding up at a house in the hills of Penticton BC!! I took the Cuda to my friends at B&N Hotrod who assembled the car and we drove it for a year!! That winter we upgraded everything, and just weeks before last year’s show, I was rear ended and the Cuda sustained substantial damage! I was devastated!!! Exactly 1 year later, merely days before the Peach Cruise, the Cuda was completed again and we made it to the show with great success!!!

2018 WINNER MUSCLE STOCK 1972 FORD GRAN TORINO SPORT JIM & JUDY YOUNG, WHITE ROCK BC This journey started back in November 1971 when I was a single man working for Ford in Quesnel, BC. I saw the brochure on the newly designed 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport and fell in love. This was a complete redesign of the original Ford Torino and there were a lot of car history firsts on this car. e.g.: Full frame, not unibody, curved and convex glass, recessed and parked windshield wipers,
flush door handles, coke bottle fastback styling and an available “Q” code option. This option, if checked off when ordered, gave you a 351 “Cleveland Cobra Jet” engine, 4 speed top loader Hurst transmission, the famous
9” traction lock rear end along with front and rear competition suspension. This was the only four speed Gran Torino offered by Ford in 1972. The car arrived in Quesnel in April 1972. Needless to say, I didn’t know it would be
such an iconic car. Not only was it quick (never lost a race) it was extremely comfortable.

2018 WINNER CAMARO/FIREBIRD 1967 CAMARO RS SS MOREY ROZON, VICTORIA BC Owning a 1967 RS/SS Camaro had always been my dream, especially after having seen one race down the Western Speedway 1/8 mile track when I was just 16 years old. Twenty-seven years passed before I finally started the search for my dream car. I found a 1967 RS/SS Camaro convertible on Craigslist Vancouver! I couldn’t believe my luck, or what I thought was my luck. The car had a beautiful paintjob and was dead straight and according to the owner, a restoration was done on it within the past 10 years. I asked the seller for any documentation or pictures he had of the restoration, of course he didn’t have any. This should have been a big red flag for me, but excitement took over logic and I purchased the car. After sandblasting, the car turned out to be nothing but a pile of rust held together with a bunch of Bondo. Kevin Sauriol from Bear Mountain Autobody had the car for almost 2 years; enough time for me to come up with some
ideas as to how I wanted to build the car and to get all the parts together. My brother and my son helped me bolt in the DSE hydroformed front clip, rack & pinion steering, coil over shocks, C6 spindles, Dart 427 Stroker SBC with a modified Hilborn ITB EFI setup and a GM Performance Parts 4L70E controlled by US Shift’s Quick 4 ECM.
There is so much more to list, Wilwood 13” drilled and slotted rotors, 6 piston calipers on the front & 4 piston on rear, the Infinity Box Intelligent Multiplex electrical system, Dakota Digital HDX gauges, DigiTail LED lights, 3400 watt Alpine and JL Audio car audio system, etc. After about 1800 hours of my own time and at least 200 hours spent with my brother and my son on the build, my dream car was completed!

2018 WINNER 1970’S MOD. 1971 PLYMOUTH HEMI CUDA MIKE DICK, DELTA BC This 1971 Hemi Cuda tribute was originally from Tennessee and was brought into Canada by the current owner. Since that time, it has undergone a complete transformation and everything is new, upgraded or rebuilt. It is painted in the original colour “Sassy Grass Green” with Hemi billboards. It now boasts a Fuel Injected 578 cubic inch Ray Barton racing engine that puts out 830 hp on pump gas backed by a Tremec TKO 5 speed transmission. All suspension has been upgraded
with a custom four link Moser rear end and a Magnum Force front K member with power rack and pinion steering. Custom 18” rims with 13” Wilwood disc brakes and coil overs in all four corners complete the package.

The Penticton Silver Eagle Riders are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts, and members of the Penticton Aries 4281 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Our group was formed in 2005 with six members, we have grown in numbers since. Our members come from all walks of life with a variety of bikes both American and Metric. The club organize planned rides through out the season in our province of British Columbia, as well in Washington State. When not riding motorcycles, we raise money for local charities through fundraising events which include Friday night dinners, Mystery draws, and poker runs. At the Eagle Aries we conduct meetings periodically throughout the year as needed. All members of the Silver Eagle Riders are first required to be members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Okanagan Motorcycle Riders Association (OMRA) OMRA is a local non-profit fundraising group that disperses thousands of dollars every year among South Okanagan groups in need. The OMRA co-operates with the Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society (OSNS) selling raffle tickets for one of their biggest annual fund-raising drives, the motorcycle give-away. Apple Valley Cruisers Car Club was formed in 2006 and is based in Summerland. It has over 90 members from the Okanagan and Similkameen areas. The South Okanagan Chapter of The Vintage Car Club of Canada was formed when a group of twelve interested people held a meeting in March 1973 at the home of Jack Nuttall. An election of officers took place. Elected were President- Jack Nuttall, Vice President-Bob McKeever, Sec-Treasurer-Dave Murray,Reporter- Della Kroeger, Directors Casey Sanders, Keith Kidd, George Kroeger, Bill Thiel. As of 2016 one of the original members George Kroeger, 90 years old, is still active in this club. The purpose of the club is to encourage the purchase, preservation, restoration and display of vintage vehicles. FOR PEACH CITY BEACH CRUISE REGISTRANTS! The SS Sicamous is the largest surviving sternwheeler in Canada (and one of only two in BC). It was custom built in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay, Ontario) and shipped by rail to the Okanagan Valley. The SS Sicamous was launched in 1914, and could reach top speeds of 18 knots (21 mph). Inside you will find a 101nhp (1000 HP) jet-condenser steam engine, with coal powered boiler capable of burning up to 17 tons per day! Thanks to all of the dedicated volunteers who have worked to restore the ship, since her final journey to Penticton (in 1951).
