There are as many reasons to head for the Harrison Hot Springs as there are grains of sand on the beaches. When you are done there, head down Rockwell Drive, and travel along the lake’s east shoreline. Take the time to visit quiet beach fronts or rest in the soothing spray of a waterfall. Stay outdoors a little longer, with a camping trip to either Hicks Lake or Deer lake, both of which have their own picturesque views and trails systems.

For one weekend, the roads are filled with bicycles, as the Agassiz Farms Cycle Tour heads out at Agassiz. A Day in History
The oldest wooden railroad station still in existence in B.C. now houses the Agassiz-Harrison Museum and Visitor Information Centre where you can see period clothing, artifacts and photos of pioneer life. A Day to Celebrate
We may have a small town vibe the rest of the year, but the Christmas season doesn’t go unnoticed around here. From the Festival of the Trees, to the Community Carol Concert and the Community Christmas Dinner, both towns celebrate tons of holiday cheer. Agassiz is fortunate to be a stop for the CPR Holiday Train, which winds its way through six provinces and seven states near Christmas time, collecting for food banks along its journey. Get out and support the food bank, hear some great live music and have a chance to see Santa Claus, too. All the food and money collected here goes directly to the Agassiz Community Services food bank. So this year, bundle up, get down to the tracks and celebrate.

Discovering local folklore at Kilby
The Agassiz-Harrison Museum and Visitor Information Centre’s connection to Agassiz’s past is rooted in the building’s foundation. In 1893, the centre acted as an original Canadian Pacific Rail Station. However, in the 1970s, CP started to tear down its old stations. In order to save the historic site, the Agassiz-Harrison Historical Society bought the building for $1, and the District of Kent moved the building off CP land and out to the research station. When the District took ownership of the land that is now Pioneer Park in 2003, they brought the museum to its old location for all to enjoy. The museum’s society currently owns and manages the centre, offering tourist information, CP Railway history, period clothing, photographs of pioneer life, and a gift shop featuring local artisans. Celebrating a 32nd birthday this year, the site has been running strong for just over three decades, and is open to the public from the end of May until October. Imagine a place where you can tiptoe back in time, learn some history, throw on a pair of gumboots and get dirty. Well, you can experience all of this, at the timeless Kilby Historic Site. At this unique location, guests have the choice to be as quiet as church mice, or to tromp around the yard with the friendly animals that call Kilby home. The oldest building in the District of Kent resides here, as well as the infamously haunted Manchester House Hotel. Kilby’s friendly staff and volunteers are on hand for tours or to assist visitors. Get prepared to be intrigued by plenty of local folklore and mystery. The site has several special dates planned each year, inviting the public to share in holiday memories, or the change of seasons. Circle farm tour
The Hot Springs
The Agassiz-Harrison area is renowned for its farming community and a Circle Farm Tour is the best way to learn more about farming in the area. The self-guided tour includes stops at Sparkes Corn Barn, Hammersley Farms, the Muddy Waters Cafe, and much more.
The Village of Harrison Hot Springs hasn’t truly been experienced until its namesake has been enjoyed. Originally used as a healing place by the Sts’ailes First Nations, the springs reach temperatures of 62 degrees. Check out the Harrison Hot Springs Public Pool as well, which sources the hot springs’ water.
Agassiz-Harrison Museum Set in an 1893 Canadian Pacific Railway station, the Agassiz-Harrison Museum & Visitor Information Centre is home to photographs and stories about the area’s rich history. Find out about the railway history, while gazing at period clothing, and artifacts. The museum gift shop also sells a variety of locally made items.
Harrison Hot Springs Water Park Need a place to cool off on a hot summer day? The Harrison Hot Springs Water Park is a floating park that includes a number of water slides, swings, and even a teeter totter. The park is operated by Harrison Watersports, who offer Seadoo rentals, bumper boats, and more.
Bridal Veil Falls Cascading down 60 metres and resembling a veil, Bridal Veil Falls is one of the areas most famous natural attractions. The short walk offers stunning views of the provincial park, and of course, the falls themselves. Located off of Exit 135 from Highway 1, the park is open from May to October.
Kilby Historic Site Originally a general store that opened in 1906, the museum at the Kilby Historic Site is the perfect place to learn about the history of Harrison Mills. Be sure to check out the Kilby Restaurant and the Waterloo Farm, while at the site. Based at the conjunction of the Harrison and Fraser Rivers, the site also offers camping and access to a sandy beach.

Sport fishers are looking for the Chinook, Coho, Chum, Sockeye and Pink Salmon that migrate through our region year after year. The legendary sturgeon, the largest fresh water fish on the continent, is the main prize out here. Anyone who has reeled in one of these massive fish knows the true power they possess, and what a thrill it is to bring one on board the boat. Sturgeon fishing is catch and release only, and the fish are monitored by local guides with the help of the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society. The possibility of catching a migrating salmon on the Fraser River is high, as it’s the main channel on their journey to spawning grounds. Meanwhile, the Harrison Lake has easy boat access for both novice and experienced fishers. Regardless if you’re a belly boater with a fly rod or looking to catch a monster, the Fraser River and Harrison Lake are waiting for you to uncover, what lies beneath.

A Unique, World Class, Small Town Festival: Harrison Festival of the Arts July 6-15, 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the Harrison Festival of the Arts, a fun, communityoriented cultural event with the celebration of diversity at its core. As someone who has toured to festivals around the world as a musician, and who has studied them as a grad student, I have come to believe that one of the most beautiful aspects of music festivals is how they echo the local character of places. To experience a festival is to experience the locale in which it occurs, and the distinctive community of that place. So what about the Harrison Festival is distinctly Harrison-esque? Well for one thing, in contrast to the many gated festivals across the country, the Harrison Festival takes place in a village. The village space is integral to the character of the festival. Attendees experience the beach stage and artisan market as part of the daily life of this friendly and laid back village. Harrison Festival is also situated in a place of singular natural beauty. With the lake and mountains as a spectacular backdrop, the artists, the audience, and nature seem to be in a three way dialogue (trialogue?) - and as a director I have seen up close how artists and spectators become enraptured by this setting, often with magical results. Then there is the relaxed pace of the festival. It is really a series of concerts over a ten day period - this stretched out schedule allows for time to really soak up each act, whether the ticketed shows in the hall or the by donation shows on the beach. It may not provide the same sensory buzz of a big festival with multiple simultaneous stages, but it is a more intimate experience- there is warm, summery vibe that permeates the scene - there is no need to rush, and even time to grab an ice cream or cold drink in between performances, without massive lineups. We welcome everyone to come share this event with us this summer.
