Away in a Manger
EASY SUGAR COOKIES • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine • 1 cup sugar • 1 large egg • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 2 teaspoons baking powder • 2 3⁄4 cups flour DIRECTIONS: Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix all dry ingredients and add slowly to butter cream mixture until incorporated. Roll out on lightly floured board to desired thickness. Cutout 2-1/2” hearts and bake at 400 degrees for 7- 10 minutes. Should be light in color with light browning on the edges.
SUGAR COOKIE ICING • 1 cup powdered sugar • 2 teaspoons milk • 2 teaspoons light corn syrup • food coloring • 1⁄4 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1⁄4 teaspoon almond extract DIRECTIONS: Stir the powdered sugar and the milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and vanilla until icing is smooth and glossy. If it’s too thick, add more corn syrup. Divide icing into separate bowls and stir in food coloring as desired. You can dip the cookies, paint them with a paint brush or spread them using a knife or the back of a spoon.

Reindeer COokies Peanut butter cookie recipe from Jif. Peanut Butter Chocolate-covered mini pretzels • Mini brown M&Ms Regular-sized red M&Ms Preheat oven to 375°F. Form dough into 1-inch balls. To make reindeershaped cookies, pinch the bottom of the ball slightly to form a point, then gently flatten with your hand. Space cookies about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 7 to 8 minutes, until set or just beginning to brown. Remove from oven and immediately (and gently) press two mini pretzels into the tops of the cookies for the reindeer’s antlers. Press two mini brown M&Ms in for the eyes and one red M&M for the nose (or any other color... some of mine ended up with green noses. They might be South Pole reindeer.). Allow to cool 2 minutes on the baking sheet and then transfer to a wire rack or paper towel to cool completely. Makes about 40 reindeer cookies.

SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES • 2 1⁄4 cups flour • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 3⁄4 cup packed brown sugar • 1⁄2 cup butter, softened • 1⁄2 cup shortening • 1⁄4 cup sugar • 1 (4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1⁄8 teaspoon almond extract • 2 eggs, beaten • 2 cups chocolate chips DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven 350 degrees. Combine flour and baking soda. In a large bowl beat brown sugar, sugar, butter, shortening, pudding mix, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix until well blended. Add eggs and mix well. Beat in the flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonful and bake 10-12 minutes.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
4-Ingredient Fudge Crinkles 1 (18 1/4 ounce) box devil’s food cake mix (Betty Crocker Super Moist suggested) 1⁄2 cup vegetable oil •2 large eggs Confectioners’ sugar or granulated sugar, for rolling DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350°. Stir (by hand) dry cake mix, oil and eggs in a large bowl until dough forms. Dust hands with confectioners’ sugar and shape dough into 1” balls. Roll balls in confectioners’ sugar and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until center is JUST SET. Remove from pans after a minute or so and cool on wire racks.

RICE KRISPIE TREES 12 Miniature Reese’s Cups 12 Candy Stars 3 tbsp Milk
• 1/3 cup M&M Minis • 3 cup Powdered Sugar • 3 tbsp Corn Syrup
Make Green Krispie Treats (on Rice Krispies Box) Butter a your hands and form mixture into cone shapes. Form to shape of trees. Place cones onto prepared pan. Allow to cool and firm up for several hours. Mix powdered sugar, milk and corn syrup in a bowl until smooth. Transfer to piping bag or zippered bag to pipe onto cookies. Pipe like a garland around each tree. Space M&M minis like ornaments onto the garland. Pipe a dab of icing on top of tree to act as glue and attach star. Place a Reese’s upside down on pan. Pipe icing on it and place tree on top.

Chips Ahoy Cookie Balls 1 pkg. (250 g) Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened 1 pkg. (225 g) Chips Ahoy! Cookies, finely crushed 2 pkg. (8 squares each) Baker’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Remove 1 Tbsp. cookie crumbs. Mix cream cheese and remaining crumbs until well blended. Shape into 1-inch balls. Refrigerate 30 min. Melt chocolate squares as directed on package. Dip balls in chocolate; place on parchment or waxed paper-covered baking sheet. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Silent Night
GINGERBREAD COOKIES • 3 cups all-purpose flour • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder • 3⁄4 teaspoon baking soda • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt • 1 tablespoon ground ginger • 1 3⁄4 teaspoons ground cinnamon • 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cloves • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter • 3⁄4 cup dark brown sugar • 1 large egg • 1⁄2 cup molasses • 2 teaspoons vanilla • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest (optional) DIRECTIONS: In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves until well blended. In a large bowl beat butter, brown sugar, and egg on medium speed until well blended. Add molasses, vanilla, and lemon zest and continue to mix until well blended. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until blended and smooth. Divide dough in half and wrap each half in plastic and let stand at room temperature for at least 2 hours or up to 8 hours. Preheat oven to 375 º. Prepare baking sheets by lining with parchment paper. (Dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, but in this case it should be refrigerated. Return to room temp before using.) Preheat oven to 375°. Grease or line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Place 1 portion of the dough on a lightly floured surface. Sprinkle flour over dough and rolling pin. Roll dough to a scant 1/4-inch thick. Cut out cookies with desired cutter-- the ginger bread man is our favorite of course. Space cookies 1 1/2-inches apart. Bake 1 sheet at a time for 7-10 minutes. Remove cookie sheet from oven and allow the cookies to stand until the cookies are firm enough to move to a wire rack. After cookies are cool you may decorate them any way you like.

Melted Marshmallow Snowmen 200g fondant icing sugar 6 white marshmallows 6 large cookies 24 mini chocolate beans 6 pretzel sticks tube black writing icing

* Put the icing sugar into a bowl and add cold water a teaspoon at a time until the mixture is runny but thick enough to coat a spoon. * Snip the marshmallows in half using wetted scissors. * Spoon a little icing onto each cookie and attach half a marshmallow. Using a little icing, stick the other half on top at an angle. Drizzle a little more icing onto the cookie to make melting snow. * Break the pretzel sticks in half and place on the cookie for arms. Stick orange chocolate beans on for the noses. Stick three chocolate beans on each cookie to represent buttons. 5. Using the writing icing, pipe small blobs for the eyes and mouth. Leave to set.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas
Melted Snowmen 1 Package (8oz) Cream Cheese,softened 24 Peanut butter sandwich cookies, finely crushed (3 cups) 3 Packages (4oz.each) Bakers White Chocolate, melted 48 Mini Oreo Bite Size Cookies • 2 Tbsp. decorating icing Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended. Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls; place in single layer in shallow pan. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in chocolate; place in shallow waxed paper-lined pan, allowing excess chocolate to pool at bottom of each ball. Decorate with remaining ingredients to resemble snowmen. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Keep refrigerated.
