READERS’ CHOICES
Business awards steeped in history The race to the winner’s circle was very, very close. ROXANNE HOOPER rhooper@langleyadvance.com
A
community-wide jury has voted and the Langley Advance is proud to announce winners of the 2015 Best of the Best Awards. It’s a program steeped in history and tradition that has been honouring Langley’s very best businesses and entrepreneurs for nearly two decades. The annual Langley Advance Best of the Best program provides an opportunity for the community to select local companies that consistently offer quality products and/or outstanding service to its customers. n integral part of this program’s success is the readers who take the time each year to cast their votes and share their views on which local businesses consistently go above and beyond, explained Langley Advance publisher Lisa Farquharson. They’re voting, because they’re impressed and appreciative, the new leader of the Advance team elaborated. his year alone, there were thousands of online and newspaper ballots cast, making this the biggest year ever for the program. Best of the Best grows in popularity every year, and while there are always first-time award winners, there are also many well-established Langley businesses chosen year after year. Some of those businesses win in more than one of the 120 categories on the ballot. Home Depot and Clipper

Langley Advance publisher Lisa Farquharson (second from the right) and sales team Bobbi Hill, Ramona Wildeman, Cheri Gray, Peggy O’Brien, Brenda Coulbourn, and Amber van den Hoven are ready to present with the 2015 Best of the Best Awards to the businesses chosen by readers. Street Scrapbook Company, for instance, led the list of multiple-category winners this year, finishing first in three or more award categories. Several businesses including, Toy Traders, Staples, Budget Brake & Muffler, Best Buy, and Nature’s Fare, were winners in two categories. arquharson was so encouraged by the continued and growing interest in the awards program, and the enthusiasm it creates within the community, that she said she’s looking foward to congratulate
F
all the winners in person. Award recipients in each categories have been invited to a special reception tonight, where they will be honoured and presented with a plaque that can hang prominently in their business to inform customers of their high-degree of sales excellence and service. “Local businesses are the centre of our community and it’s a pleasure to see so many businesses honoured for their outstanding products and services. Congratulations to all of you!” she said.
Best of the Best is democracy in action – the ballots for all the categories are counted and the winners in each category are declared. eaders are the judges. And once again Advance readers have demonstrated their devotion to choosing the best of best based on their own experiences. “Thank you to so many of our readers for taking the time to vote for your favourites,” Farquharson said. This marks the 18th year that the Advance has brought the
R
Best of the Best to the community, she added. “As a long-time resident of Langley I’ve always been excited to read this fabulous section every year! Now, as a new member of the Advance team, I couldn’t be more proud to be connected to such a longstanding tradition.” f you’ve never taken part in the Best of the Best before, keep your eyes peeled next spring for the 19th annual contest, and join the tradition of helping choose the next set of Langley’s very BEST!
