How to sell your outdated home to modern young Buyers If you have an old home and want to appeal to young buyers, you may need to take some extra steps. Maybe you should consider offering a possible expansion or renovation plan. Younger buyers don’t always realize how much can be changed with a simple renovation. If they like the home based on the location and the general style, they can be persuaded to buy if they can see the possibilities that come with an update or renovation plan. You as a Seller can pay for simple drawings that show some renovation options that would work with the home’s original design.. Have an inspector do a basic review of your home in advance to assure the young buyers that they won’t need to replace big ticket items like the roof, furnace and hot water tank as soon as they move in. Lighten and brighten your home and get rid of all the old “stuff” that doesn’t need to be there. Remove all heavy old dark furniture to make the rooms look more spacious. If you decide to paint before you sell, use trendy neutral colours. (The Pottery Barn look) So, give them options and choices and you will have a very good chance at a sale.
