Aldergrove Legion is hosting its annual free Canada Day family party on Wednesday, July 1, and it’s open for all in the community, not just Legion members and their families. A special feature of this year’s event is an “old-fashioned sports day” on the Legion’s back lawn. From noon until 4 p.m. youngsters will compete in a variety of events such as a water balloon toss, three-legged, sack and wheelbarrow races and an obstacle course, for prizes. A Canada Day cake will be served at no charge to all guests, and hamburgers, hot dogs and steaks will be sold at bargain prices from the Legion barbecue. Soft drinks and water will also be available at the outdoor family party. There will be children’s entertainment and activities outdoors in the fenced lawn

area and inside the Legion hall there will be dancing for adults to the music of Landslide from 3 to 7 p.m. Children’s entertainers include Rosie Ribbonstar performing at 12:30 p.m., Andrew the Magician performing at 2 p.m., and balloon artist Mr. Flowers Jr. creating from noon to 3 p.m. There will also be a bouncy castle, along with free flags, flag “tattoos” and face painting. There is no admission charge to the Legion’s Canada Day party and it is open to all citizens. Locals may also celebrate Canada Day in historic Mount Lehman (founded 1874) at the Mt. Lehman Community Hall, 6418 Mt. Lehman Rd. (at the intersection of Mt. Lehman and Taylor Roads) in north-west Abbotsford. There will be cinnamon buns for breakfast purchase starting at 8 a.m. along with complimentary coffee or tea at the

Community Hall. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. from the Mt. Lehman Credit Union, 5889 Mt. Lehman Road. Mt. Lehman Road will be closed to motorists between Harris and Taylor and Ross and Taylor Roads (except parade traffic) from 9 to 10 a.m. A cake and festivities will follow at the Mt. Lehman Community Hall. If you would like to participate in the parade by driving your car, motor cycle, tractor, bicycle, float, walking or roller blading please meet at the Credit Union at 9 a.m. Langley’s Canada Day event will be held on Wednesday, July 1 at Willoughby Community Park, 7888 - 200 Street. Charges have been laid against two alleged senior members of the 856 gang in connection to alleged drug trafficking activities in Langley. Leonard Pelletier, 48, has now been charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Jason Francis Wallace, 26, is charged with six counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. In July 2014, three alleged high-ranking members of Aldergrove’s 856 gang were arrested and B.C.’s gang unit shut down their drug making facility at a mansion on an acreage in Langley. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit seized $400,000 worth of cocaine, meth, heroin, oxycontin and a large quantity of drug-making paraphernalia from a 10,000-squarefoot home in the 4600 block of 236 Street. The home, which was cut up into apartments, housed a 20-tonne press to make the cocaine bricks and other illicit drugs and paraphernalia. Among the drugs, police seized 44 kg of super buffer, which is used to dilute cocaine so they can “double their profit.” The buffer was actually pig dewormer. The July 2014 seizure was one of the largest CFSEU has carried out and police believe this will put a big dent in the 856 gang’s business and operations. The three Langley men arrested at the scene were 23, 25 and 47. They were released pending charges, said Sgt. Lindsey Houghton at the time. The 856 gang, named after the telephone prefix for Aldergrove, started a decade ago “as a bunch of young punks and thugs in Aldergrove doing street-level drug dealing,” said Houghton. But they have grown and continue to recruit new members from Aldergrove, he confirmed. They aren’t at the level of other gangs in the area like the Red Scorpions, but have become the dominant drug trafficking gang in the Yukon, Yellowknife, NWT, parts of Alberta and Fort St. John. “They will muscle their way into a market that is kind of untapped and take it over,” said Houghton. In April, weapons, drugs and cash were seized and arrests made in the Yukon, tied to the 856 gang. Among the items seized were ‘856’ black T-shirts. In 2007, Pelletier and his teenage son were shot at and run off the road in his Hummer while he was driving his son to D.W. Poppy Secondary. The drive-by shooter was never caught. At that time, police said the Pelletier family had gang ties. Wallace was sentenced to house arrest for stabbing another teen at a Brookswood Secondary grad party in 2007. Wallace had reportedly crashed the party. The 18-year-old victim was also shot in the buttocks, but the shooter wasn’t identified.

Metro targets illegal fill dumping on farmland By JEFF NAGEL Aldergrove Star

Metro Vancouver cities are vowing to take coordinated action to stop the dumping of illegal fill on farmland, which degrades it and may contaminate it with demolition debris or invasive species like fire ants. Some cities in the region have controls on soil excavated and deposited within their boundaries, but thereâ€™s no good system to track movements of fill that cross civic boundaries. Compacted soil excavated from urban construction sites gets trucked â€“ sometimes surreptitiously â€“Â out to agricultural areas where farmland owners are paid handsomely to accept fill loads. Politicians fear that, if left unchecked, the practice will render vast swaths of farmland unproductive because of the temptation of shortterm gain. Degraded farmland may become truck parking lots and poor soil can ultimately be an argument to allow development. â€œWe need a unified stand,â€? Richmond Coun. Harold Steves told

the Metro Vancouver board May 15. â€œLots of land owners are quite happy to take [money] from truckers who want to get rid of the soil and do it in the dark of night or weekends.â€? Land owners get paid $100 to $200 per truckload, which can add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars â€“Â much more than the maximum fines if caught, according to a Metro report. For truckers, $200 a load is a lot cheaper than $3,240 in tipping fees at the Vancouver Landfill for a 30-tonne truck. And the report says there are no measures in place to control the quality of fill being dumped. Corrigan said his city investigated a massive soil excavation at a Brentwood Town Centre and discovered most of the soil was being barged out and dumped in the ocean off Point Grey. â€œIt seem to me counterintuitive that thatâ€™s good for the environment to dump all that dirt off west Point Grey but apparently the Ministry of Environment says it is.â€?

Heat wave about to hit: hereâ€™s how to keep your cool Aldergrove Star

A heat wave is hitting the Lower Mainland and will likely be running through the weekend. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the expected hot weather for Whistler, Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, and the Sunshine Coast. It says the â€œprolonged period of hot weatherâ€? would continue through early next week â€“ with Saturday and Sunday being the hottest. On-shore breezes are expected to cap temperatures in the mid-20s, but temperatures are expected to hover around 30 slightly inland. Area health authorities cautioned the hot temperatures can be dangerous. â€œEveryone is at risk of heat related illness, but in particular, children, seniors and people with chronic health conditions are more vulnerable,â€? according to a news release from medical health officers with Vancouver Coastal and Fraser health authorities. â€œThere are a variety of mild to severe symptoms linked with heatrelated illness, including thirst, dizziness, confusion, weakness/fainting/ collapsing and even death.â€? They offer the following suggested precautions to protect yourself from the heat:

Drivers not slowing or moving over for emergency vehicles Aldergrove Star

B.C. RCMP traffic services, along with Port Mann police, conducted â€˜operation shieldâ€™ last Tuesday to remind drivers to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.

Police were conducting enforcement at the 192 Street and 160 Street off-ramps of Highway One, handing out tickets that amounted to a $173 fine and three penalty points to drivers who didnâ€™t slow down for â€˜officialâ€™

vehicles. Over the past several months, RCMP Traffic Services members have noticed the driving public is still failing to slow down and move over for â€œofficialâ€? vehicles which are

stopped road side with their lights flashing, said Cpl. Ronda Rempel. In some instances, this dangerous behaviour has resulted in collisions with police vehicles. Historically, road-side workers

who were conducting official business have been seriously injured or killed. â€œThis enforcement operation is an RCMP initiative to address this very serious concern,â€? said Rempel.

Bob Brady ‘Palm Leaf’ awarded for meritorious service

Robert James (Bob) Brady was awarded the Palm Leaf for the Meritorious Service Medal at the BC/Yukon Command biannual convention on June 6 at the Ramada Conference Centre in Abbotsford. Bob joined the army cadets at age 12 and later, the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, serving for six years. He joined the Royal Canadian Legion in 1969. Bob has been actively involved in his community for many years. He coached minor sports, was an Abbotsford alderman in 1975-76, Abbotsford Masonic Lodge #70 member for many years and Worshipful Master in 1981-82, member of Gizeh Shriners Scooter Corps and is seen in many parades. He was an Aldergrove Lions club member and director for many years and President in 1976. Bob is also a member of the Aldergrove Elks and Abbotsford Eagles. In 2002 he received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for community

service. Comrade Brady has held many Legion positions, including branch executive, President in 1993-1996, Fraser Valley Zone Commander 1995-2003, BC/Yukon Command executive 2004 to present. In 2000 Bob was awarded a Legion Life Membership. He assists with initiation ceremonies, poppy campaign, veterans’ dinners, Remembrance Day ceremonies and wrote the poem “Why Wear A Poppy”. He is also part of the Honour Guard for members’ funerals. Bob received the Meritorious Service Medal from the Aldergrove Branch in 2009. Bob can still be seen in the Legion kitchen lending his experience with meals, such as the monthly smorgasbords on the third Fridays’ of the month, which is open to the public. The Palm Leaf is the highest award given to a Legion member.

Messy Church a growing thing By KURT LANGMANN Aldergrove Star

Aldergrove’s “messy church garden” has really grown since last month. The kids were checking out their beans during their last fun time for the summer with Carol Tindall, the Messy Church coordinator at St. Dunstan’s Church. The children share a raised bed with the Sunday School children who planted peas. All the kids had a great time planting. The kids were so excited about planting that it looks like they’ll need another raised bed to plant more veggies next year. The Messy Church families gather every third Friday from September to June from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Messy Church is an opportunity for families to play games, sing songs and make crafts, all based on the Bible story chosen for that day. They then move into the sanctuary for a short, child-friendly worship

service. The evening concludes with supper provided by volunteers from St. Dunstan’s. Last month as part of their activities, the children of various ages planted beans in the church’s community garden for the Garden to Table Program, which provides a free community meal in the church hall every Thursday evening. This vegetable garden also provides food donations to the Food Bank and the community. Landowners want ongoing payments for Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion By TYLER OLSEN Aldergrove Star

A group representing Fraser Valley owners say they want more than a lump sum payment in return for their blessing of the proposed expansion of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline. The Collaborative Group of Landowners Affected by Pipelines (CGLAP) was formed last spring and represents nearly 100 owners of properties in Chilliwack, Langley and Abbotsford who are affected by the pipeline. Peter Reus, the group’s president and a Sumas Prairie grower, says more than 60 kilometres of the Trans Mountain pipeline cross 79 different properties owned by CGLAP members. Kinder Morgan has proposed to expand its pipeline, which runs from Northern Alberta, through Southern British Columbia and the Lower Mainland to Burnaby. Reus said representatives from the group – which has been granted intervenor status with the National Energy Board – have had productive meetings with Kinder Morgan, but that the stumbling point is an agreement with landowners over

compensation. In February, the group submitted a proposal calling for what Reus describes as a “long-term business partnership” involving ongoing payments in return for landowners’ co-operation. Kinder Morgan countered in April by offering a one-time payout, but Reus said the group doesn’t intend on accepting the proposal. “We’re not against the pipeline, but we would like to have the proper compensation for the nuisance of this new pipeline in our land,” said Reus, whose own property contains 1.7 kilometres of pipe. He said the existing pipeline, which dates back 62 years, has long been a “hassle” for property owners. Reus said farmers have to call the pipeline company and wait for their assistance with any plowing below 30 centimetres. That can take time, he said, and can be problematic when a farmer hopes to take advantage of a small window of good weather to get a crop in. He added that even the smallest alteration of the land near the pipeline can draw a helicopter – and all

the disturbance the landing of such a craft brings – to farmers’ field. Reus is also working with a pair of University of the Fraser Valley professors who are studying the effect of pipelines – in particular, their temperature – on growing conditions. No results are available yet. “Now there is a chance for the pipeline company to make good,” Reus said. Kinder Morgan has been receptive to the owners’ issues, and has promised to bury the new expanded pipeline – which will be constructed 20 feet away from the existing pipe – significantly deeper. But the main missing piece is a financial agreement. “If you look around, if people want something for the years to come, for a corporation and for usage, something has to be paid,” he said. “I don’t think we are different from First Nations who want to work with industry. “It’s our land and they’re guests on our land.” Despite the differences over payments, Reus said the two sides remain talking and hope to resolve the issues soon.

The more I think about the Township’s plans for the new Aldergrove Recreation Centre, the more I like it. There was a lot of thought put into the planning of this facility along with fiscal responsibility. Ice arenas and swimming pools are not generally profitable; they are a social utility usually built by government which subsidizes their operations in order to keep admission prices within the reach of families and user groups. The Township subsidizes the Walnut Grove and W.C. Blair pools’ operations in the range of $1.3 to $1.8 million, each, annually. This subsidy ranges between those two figures due to variances in the total admission fees received from users in a given year, and therefore in a good year the subsidy is still a hefty $1.3 million for each facility. This is a lot of money, needless to say. And obviously it would not be prudent to merely replicate the Walnut Grove or Blair facilities here in Aldergrove, as it would only take away admissions from the two existing pools. Spreading the business among three subsidized pools would likely push the annual subsidy to the outer range of $1.8 million at each of the pools. The Township’s general manager, Jason Winslade, says about 11 per cent of W.C. Blair’s users come from Aldergrove. He anticipates that some of this market will use the new Aldergrove rec centre instead, particularly the exercise and weights rooms users as Aldergrove will finally have these highly-popular facilities in the new centre. However, the Aldergrove

aquatic facilities will be unique, in fact the only facilities of their type in the Fraser Valley, and should attract large numbers of users for the May to September season. This water park complex will include three water slides, a children’s aqua play area, a tidal or wave pool, and a current channel around the slide towers. In a sense these unique facilities will replicate the Aldergrove Lake experience, which drew thousands of families every summer before Metro Vancouver Parks shut it down. And while Aldergrove Lake was free of charge (Metro Vancouver did away with admission fees after purchasing it from private operators in the early ‘70s), the Township will have the same admission fees here as at any other Township pool — roughly $10 for a family, $5 for an adult, free for toddlers. This is considerably less expensive than the comparable, privately-operated Cultus Lake water park. The aquatic complex also includes a heated six-lane 25-metre outdoor pool which will operate year-round. There is some contention about the outdoor pool aspect from users who wish it could be an indoor pool, but with the benign climate we have here there would be few days of the year that it would need to be closed. It and the two adjacent hot tubs would be heated yearround, thanks to the economical new heat exchange technology that would simultaneously cool the ice arena and heat the pools. Winslade says the footings and foundation needed for a pool enclosure will be built so that this could be added in the future, but not enclosing it

now will shave $6 million off the cost and keep the project within the $25.769 million budget allocated for it. The Township has raised this $25 million budget almost entirely by selling surplus properties in East Langley, so there will be no tax increases required for the rec centre project and the Township can proceed without requiring any borrowing. The Township has also been setting aside $200,000 a year for the anticipated increase to its annual subsidies so that there won’t be a shock to the Township budget when the new Aldergrove complex opens. The existing Aldergrove outdoor pool is 50 years old, and the ice arena is over 40 years old. They are at the end of their days and it makes sense to replace them with a consolidated facility that will reduce operating and staffing costs, while augmenting those facilities with other popular amenities such as the water park and exercise rooms. The new two-level arena will have more office space and change rooms as well as seating for up to 650, which enables it to host major ice events. The arena will also have a dry floor capability so that it can host more than a thousand people at events such as concerts and parties — and thanks to the sunken design and concrete walls there won’t be the same level of noise complaints from neighbouring residents that the existing arena has experienced during special events. Aldergrove is getting the very best of new amenities and it isn’t costing any Township resident more money in property taxes. I’d call that a win-win.

Editor: I was, to put it mildly, gobsmacked when I read of the Township’s unbelievable decision to go ahead with something that, I venture to say, absolutely no one in Aldergrove actually wants. Why are they so determined to build the new arena? The one we have is a great place to spend time watching ice hockey in the winter and ball hockey in spring. Having two grandsons, I speak from experience. Aldergrove is growing, with the 60 odd houses which we all know about, but there are perhaps twice that number being built on 35A Avenue. That, by anyone’s reckoning is several hundred new property tax-payers plus, as is quite likely, several more hundred children. The housing boom just across the border in Abbotsford would mean hundreds more children and parents who would, no doubt, take advantage of an indoor pool. OK, so they don’t pay taxes here, but they would contribute greatly to the upkeep of a pool. I actually cannot believe how upset I am. I was so looking forward to being able to take advantage of having a pool to use regularly, here in town. In fact, I would be able to use the pool more often if I did not have to drive. By the time the new pool is built, I will be into my 70s and as each year is added, I believe that for those of us in that demographic, the pool would become more and more attractive and most particularly in the winter months. I have to admit that I could not bring myself to read all that was reported in today’s Star, but would guess that it is a ‘done deal’ and all I can do is lament the council’s lack of foresight. Let the Township know you want an indoor pool Editor: Re: New Recreation Centre for Aldergrove — without an indoor pool I attended the unveiling of the new recreation centre for Aldergrove last night. There were many great ideas included in the design. The library will stay at the Kinsmen Centre to cut costs. There will be a great new ice arena which will double as an events centre to help with costs. A beautiful waterpark which will change many peoples destination from the Cultus Lake Waterpark to Aldergrove’s new waterpark will be open for four or five months of the year. But where is our indoor pool? It is non-existent. There will be a lap pool that is heated year round but there are no plans to heat the area between the change rooms and the pool or provide a heated area for parents to sit and watch their children participate in lessons. The waterpark has an area that is ideal for those needing rehabilitation from surgery to walk but only in the summer months so if you are fortunate to only need this rehabilitation in the summer it will be useful to you. The new recreation centre does not provide the indoor pool that residents of Aldergrove have been asking for but it provides much needed summer water activities to the community. In a conversation with one counsellor I was told that I was the only one in Aldergrove who wanted an indoor pool. If you also would like to see an indoor pool in Aldergrove or at least a heated area for those going from the change room to the pool and for spectators please contact Langley Township council and let them know. There are two more public information meetings this week but because of the short time frame the information meetings may be over before you hear about them. Go to the Township website, view the plans and comment to the township council. There is a large ice community in Aldergrove with a voice. They have had ice for a long time. There has never been an indoor pool in Aldergrove so the swimming community does not have a large voice. Looking at the new recreation centre plans it is easy to see who has the largest voice. I cannot emphasize enough that you must contact the township councilors immediately to help generations of “would be” swimmers in Aldergrove. We are told that the recreation facility will open in May 2018. Let it open with warmth in winter for swimmers. Dianne Kask, Aldergrove

International students have become an important business for Langley School District, with more than 800 students from abroad enrolled at Langley schools in the coming year. About 100 of these students, from Asia, South America and Europe, are registered at Aldergrove Secondary school for the coming school year. It’s all part of expanding horizons for students, both from abroad and locally, as it provides an opportunity for students to learn more about lifestyles and customs outside their hometown communities. However, a new “sister schools” agreement between Aldergrove Secondary and SaijoShisui high school in Hiroshima prefecture, Japan, is another aspect of the international programs. “It enables the two schools to work together, share information and encourages visits between the schools,” says Barry Bunyan, Langley’s International School Program director. “We have other partnerships with schools in

Poppy Secondary has a partnership with another school in Hiroshima.” Saijo-Shisui school principal Hirofumi Yamamoto said their school was small — only 84 students — and in a remote part of north Hiroshima in the mountains. He said his goal was also to expand the educational opportunities for their students. Arianne Qanbery, who is graduating from Aldergrove Secondary this month, said she was among a group which travelled to Belize this past school year to assist in building a playground for youngsters there. She said it was an eye-opener as, “we got to appreciate their culture and everyday lives.” Qanbary noted that Aldergrove students also participated in field trips, helped tutor middle school students, and “learned how to look for jobs and resources in our community,” as part of being well-rounded citizens of their community. Hockey camp for aspiring pros By GARY AHUJA Aldergrove Star

A trio of Langley men have teamed up to give back to aspiring young hockey players. Matt Pope, Dan Spence and Andrew Sharp have launched Pacific Western Hockey Development — or PacWestHD — which will run next month out of Langley’s Sportsplex in Walnut Grove. “We’re teaching kids everything we’ve learned along the way, not just on the ice, but off the ice as well,” Pope said. “I wish that I had a mentor that I could learn from and

ask questions so we’re trying to provide that to the next generation.” The camp, which costs $600, runs July 6 to 10 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily and is for initiation, atom and peewee-aged players. Each day includes two on-ice sessions as well as a pair of off-ice sessions. The campers also receive lunch. Pope and Spence played their minor hockey with the Langley Minor Hockey Association while Sharp played a couple of years of bantam in Langley after moving from Quebec. “All three of us have years of experience with teaching

as well as decades of playing experience,” Pope said. “We can answer any questions and help our athletes as they grow up whether they want to go straight to pro (hockey) like the two other guys did or go the college scholarship route like I did.” Pope will serve as the camp’s shooting and scoring coach, Sharp will take care of power skating and dry-land training and Spence will be the goalie and video coach. Charities benefit from GranFondo Aldergrove Star

Proceeds from next month’s Prospera Valley GranFondo will benefit children and youth cycling charities in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. Now in its fourth year, the nonprofit mass cycling event attracted 1,200 riders in 2014. This year’s event is July 19 and once again, begins and ends in Fort Langley. The proceeds from this year’s ride will be split between three youth cycling organizations: Cycling BC’s iRide, a free program to educate kids on fitness and bike safety; DEVO, a youth development cycling program; and Global

Relay Bridge the Gap, which helps young riders bridge the gap financially between junior and elite riding levels. Three routes are being offered for this year’s GranFondo: the 48-km PrestoFondo, the 88-km MedioFondo and the 160-km GranFondo. And the first of those three, the London Drugs Ride for Hope PrestoFondo, is raising money for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. The first 75 participants to register from this distance who commit to raising $250 will receive a custom ride jersey as well as a reduced entry fee of $75.

Additionally, the Canadian Velo Events Management Society — who operate the PVGF — have announced they will match donations to the three charities up to a total of $10,000. “We’re committed to making our communities healthier and stronger and cycling is a fantastic way to encourage youth to get outside, have fun and spend time with friends and family,” said Bruce Howell, president and CEO of Prospera Credit Union, the founding and title sponsor of the Prospera Valley GranFondo. One night after dropping their fourth straight game, the Langley Thunder got back into the win column by handing the undefeated New Westminster Salmonbellies their first loss of the Western Lacrosse Association season. The senior A Thunder fell behind the Burnaby Lakers 7-1 on Wednesday ( June 17) night at the Langley Events Centre before nearly completing the comeback, falling 12-11. Alex Turner thought he had tied the game for Langley with less than two minutes remaining, but the goal was waived off for a crease violation. Rookie Anthony Malcom led the Thunder in the defeat with four goals and five points, while Pat Saunders and

Athan Iannucci also scored a pair of goals apiece. And Malcom picked up where he left off against New Westminster the following night ( June 18) at Queen’s Park Arena with another three goals. After the teams traded goals in the opening minutes, Langley scored six of the next seven to lead to 7-2 after two periods. The Salmonbellies scored four of the final five goals but fell 8-6. Rocky Bowman made 44 saves for the win. Iannucci had two more goals and Lewis Ratcliff finished with four assists. The Salmonbellies fell to 6-1 on the season while Langley improved to 3-5. Langley is 0-4 at home this season but 3-1 on the road.

Rodeo time at Langley Riders Marina Zimmerman and Amber burst out of the gate during a doughnut race at the Langley Riders Society on May 24. The event requires contestants to race to a barrel, dismount, munch a doughnut, then whistle before getting back on their horse. It was one of several whimsical events at the Games Day. Township workers support ‘AllStar Youth Sport’ Aldergrove Star

The CUPE 403 local representing Langley Township workers recently made a substantial donation to the AllStar Youth Sport Society. On June 4, CUPE 403 President, Debbie Whyte presented Cory Philpot, former member of the BC Lions and

founder of AllStar Youth Sport Society, with a $1,000 cheque. Philpot started the organization to help disadvantaged youth to be able to participate in sports. Whyte said that at their last membership meeting, the members of CUPE 403 voted to donate funds to enable two local children to participate in an

upcoming football tournament in Miami, Florida this summer. “We are avid supporters of many community activities in the Township. We regularly support sports events, Food Banks, seniors activities, legions, and the Aldergrove Summer Activity Calendar to name a few.” CUPE 403 represents 750

workers in the Township of Langley who provide services including water, sanitary, and sewer; community development; road maintenance, design and construction; parks management and staffing of public pools and the museum in Fort Langley; civilian staffing of RCMP office and Fire Department.
