Riverside Park and Campground
Riverside Park is Vanderhoof ’s largest park located on Burrard St. heading north - the entrance is before the bridge over Nechako River. The Park Office is open from May long weekend to the end of September from 7am to 10pm, but the park itself is open year round. The campground has 38 camping spots that accommodate tents to RV’s. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Use of showers, sani-dump, and firewood are available when campsite fees are paid.
The park is very large with plenty of space for leisure activities, there is a children’s play ground, a walking trail with plenty of sitting benches and an unsupervised swimming area. There is a covered picnic area with picnic tables that can be reserved in the summer months for reunions, fundraisers, birthdays and more. During the summer the popular farmers market is held here and has become a meeting place for the community.

Sports to See and Do in Summer If you enjoy nature’s beauty the Stuart/Nechako region is rich in scenery and wildlife, perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. The region is abundant with deer, moose, grizzly and black bear, but be careful these are wild animals and should not be fed or approached. Bird watchers can view hundreds of species at the bird sanctuary along the Nechako River in Vanderhoof. Bring your binoculars, its the perfect perch for bird lovers to view migrating swans, geese and ducks in the late fall and early spring. Saskatoon’s, strawberries, huckleberries and wild raspberries are just a few of the little delicacies in our great wilderness. Go exploring during mid-summer, a ripe time for luscious berries, be bear aware though as they are also feasting on these little morsels. As well as the many walking trails we have biking trails and for the more adventurous we have the bike skills park located on 7th Street. Sinkut Mountain is the tallest peak in Vanderhoof, at over 4,000 feet it overlooks the Nechako Valley and offers a 360 degree view. There is a forestry tower at the top and a few microwave and cellular towers. The view is spectacular and a great place for picture taking. Enjoy a round of golf on the local golf course or spend an afternoon playing tennis on one of the courts near the curling rink. There are many lakes to enjoy fishing and boating and a variety of camping areas. Visit the Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce located at 2353 Burrard Ave, or call 250-5672124 for more information to enjoy the many qualities of “The Geographical Centre of BC”.

Parrett acknowledged that Bennett’s defence lawyer had argued Reierson was not disheveled when fellow volunteers opened the door and did not complain about the incident at the time. Defence suggested Reierson should not be believed with no evidence of sexual assault in the locked room. “Indeed the court must prove the touch was of sexual nature, but the fact she wasn’t dishevelled or crying at that stage is not surprising,â€? Parrett said. “Laughter emerges from people in many circumstances – one is to divert attention in embarrassment. People react differently to stress and drama, especially when under pressure.â€? Soon Murray Creek will no longer start at the culvert on Larson road and flow north west into the Nechako River, but will revert back to it’s historical channel heading south and south west, Olin Albertson said, biologist with Avison. “And to accommodate for extra flow [because of the mountain pine beetle] we’re going to overbuild it a little, Albertson said. NEWSS started seven years ago with the idea of promoting water stewardship values in the Nechako Valley.
