Liana Jule Greiner of Summerland and Gareth Peter Tilt of Kamloops were married Aug. 16, 2014 in Knutsford, B.C. at Grandview Acres Ranch. The cows kept escaping which woke up the bride, her bridesmaids, and her bridesmen extra early on the big day but the rain thankfully held off for the bride versus groom softball game that everyone played in their suits and dresses (even the bride). Liana and Gareth have recently moved to Merritt, B.C. and are happy to now be closer to family and friends.

Summerland Review Thursday, March 12, 2015

Tomlin — Mead Xenis — Bifford

Eric Bifford and Heather Xenis, both raised in Summerland, were married Aug. 16, 2014 in Christina Lake, BC. They were beyond blessed to be joined by an abundance of family and friends (many of whom traveled from near and far), and only a little rain! The two most treasured guests, though, were their beautiful sons, Carter and Bowen. After over eight years together, Eric and Heather are excited to now officially be man and wife!

On Sept. 7, 2014 in a quiet ceremony, Benjamin and Amanda Mead were married by the justice of the peace in the presence of Amanda’s daughter Morgan, mother and father Denver and Jeannie Tomlin of Summerland, B.C. along with Ben’s father Larry Mead of Penticton B.C. On Sept. 20, 2014, a sparkling day in the Okanagan at Sudbury Beach, Penticton, B.C., Amanda and Ben Mead along with a small gathering of friends and family in attendance had Ben’s brother Josh Mead performing another beautiful ceremony. A timeless reception was held on the SS Sicamous located at the water’s edge on Okanagan Lake, Penticton, B.C. The couple will be residing in Penticton, B.C.

NOW HERE’S SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER…

Artistic Botanicals for Exceptional Okanagan Events

If you had a will previous to getting married it may now be invalid. The existing law reads that unless your will specifically states that it is made in contemplation of marriage to the person you do marry, your will is deemed to be invalid upon any subsequent marriage. While many young people do not have wills previous to their getting married, many other people may be embarking on their second (or third, etc..) trip down the aisle and usually already have wills which distribute their estate to their existing families. Beware, these wills are no longer valid. Couples starting families should also consider making wills. Most couples create wills which leave everything to the survivor should anything happen to one of them and in case both are gone the estate is divided among their children. This can be set out in a will even before the children are born. In addition to this, couples with young families should appoint a guardian for their children in the will. Creating a will now, will allow you to concentrate on more important things once children come along.
