The race was the third in the 2015 Frontrunners Island Race Series and was hosted by Bastion Running Club. Jeremy Clegg of Nanaimo won the race with a time of 39:57, while Kimberley Doerksen of Gibsons was the first female finisher — and 14th overall — with a time of 44:50. Fifty-year-old Trevor George Meers of Ladysmith has been charged and is in custody following the death of a 55-year-old woman in Ladysmith on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
