The owner of the Marine Pub— destroyed by a massive fire early Saturday morning—thinks he may have caught someone in the act of lighting his business ablaze. Pal Singh said when he got a call at 2:28 a.m. Saturday from the company monitoring the pub’s security system that the alarm on the back patio door had been tripped, he called up on his cellphone the feeds from the 27 video cameras scattered throughout the establishment. It’s a system Singh, with a background in information technology, designed himself. He expected to see the same types of shady characters who’d infiltrated his pub twice the last two months. In security camera footage from those break-ins, Singh said he witnessed groups of three people wearing hoodies and winter coats walking around inside the pub and on the patio “like they were scoping the place.” Singh said nothing of much value was taken, a debit machine and an old, empty cash register.
