CELEBRATING CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN ABBOTSFORD AND THE FRASER VALLEY The AbbyFest Multicultural Festival is returning for its seventh year, on Sept. 27 at the Ag-Rec Building in Abbotsford Exhibition Park (32470 Haida Drive). The free event begins at 10 a.m. with the Parade of Nations – a march that displays the flags from all the countries represented at the event – as well as a short opening ceremony. The family-friendly event closes at 6 p.m. Attendees can enjoy more than 50 booth displays, a number of cultural food vendors, and a day of cultural entertainers on both the indoor and outdoor stages. The newest addition to this years’ AbbyFest is a beer garden, which closes at 8 p.m. and

There will also be a presentation from the international students at University of the Fraser Valley, a dunk tank, a martial arts demonstration and much more. Activities for the kids include various craft activity booths, face painting, a bouncy castle and more. The evening will close with a performance from the Abbotsford Men’s Chorus on the inside stage. With the help of dedicated committee members and countless volunteers, Petersen and his team anticipate another successful festival to celebrate the diversity of the community and beyond.
