Register Online for Saanich Recreation Programs You can register for any program using our electronic "online version" of our Active Living Guide found at www.saanichrec.ca and by clicking on any six digit ‘course code’ found underneath each course description. If you have not registered online with Saanich, or you do not remember your login ID (known as a personal barcode and PIN), please contact any Reception Staff at one of our four recreation centres, or request the information by email at recreation@saanich.ca. WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
• Family Barcode and PIN number (available by phoning any of our reception desks or by email at recreation@saanich.ca). • VISA, MasterCard or American Express number and expiry date or a Credit from your Saanich Recreation account equal to the course fee. Credit and Refund Policy: Credits/refunds are prorated after the first lesson. After second class, refund/credits granted only for cases of illness supported by a doctor's note, or for compassionate reasons. One and two day programs and camps will still require 72 hours notice. For more information on fees, credits and refunds, please contact the Recreation Centre of purchase. * GST will be added to all pass prices (except drop-ins). A $10 + tax replacement fee may be charged for lost or stolen Access Cards. ** At all times, children 7 years and under must be accompanied by, and remain in arm’s reach of an adult, while in the pool. *** Family rate pays for one or both parents/guardians plus up to four children, whether related or not (or all children in the same family, even if there are more than four). The $14.25 Family Skating price includes rentals. **** To qualify for the student rate, a valid student card or letter from the school registrar confirming registration at an accredited institution must be produced at time of purchase. ***** Fees subject to change April 1, 2015

Special Events MOON FESTIVAL LANTERN CELEBRATION
Lantern-making station will be open from 3:00pm onwards to make lanterns. All materials and LED light supplied to make a complete lantern for $3. Join us at Gordon Head Recreation Centre for a neighbourhood celebration of light and community! From 6:00-9:00pm, come for mooncakes and tea, with entertainment by traditional performers. At dusk there will be an illuminated lantern procession to join in and see the lantern installations around the park, with a celebration at the end of the route. Babies and caregivers are introduced to rhythmic breathing, moving forward and backward, front and back float with recovery, and shallow water entries and exits.

Toddlers and caregivers work on submersion, front and back floats and glides, jumping into chest-deep water with assistance, kicking on front, and front swim.
Swimmers practice assisted front and back floats and glides, kicking on front with a buoyant object, and will be able to swim 1 metre upon completion of this level. Swimmers practice improving their front and back float and jumping into chest-deep water unassisted. Kicking is added to the front and back glide and swimmers will be able to swim 2 metres upon completion.

Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (100m), elementary back stroke (50m) and breast stroke (50m), learn sidestroke (25m), learn dolphin kick (vertical), learn feet- and headfirst surface dives with underwater swim, and swim 500 metres continuously.
HOME SCHOOL SWIM LESSONS 5yrs+
These lessons will provide home schooled children with the opportunity to take Red Cross Swim Lessons while interacting with other children their age. Each child will receive a 30 or 45 minute swim lesson (depending on level) and 30 minutes of fun swim time. Parents must accompany each child into the water for their fun swim time following the lesson. All swim levels welcome!

Participants will build confidence and have fun on the ice while learning basic skating skills including balancing on two feet, touching toes, walking forwards, marching, as well as falling down and getting up. This class is for children who can skate independently. Skills include: gliding, two foot jumps, making snow and walking backwards. Prerequisite Preschool 1.
PRE-SCHOOL 3
This beginner school age level will build your child’s confidence on the ice. Skills covered include: forward gliding, marching forward, making snow, falling down and getting up and walking backwards. This class is for children who can skate independently. Skills include: Forward sculling, one foot forward glides, stopping, walking backwards with some glide, and two foot half turns. Prerequisite Level 1 or Preschool 3.
In this level skaters will learn, V-pushes, one foot gliding, two foot jump while gliding, walking backwards with some glide, two foot quarterturns on the spot and stopping. Prerequisite Preschool 2.

Prerequisite Level 2 or Preschool 4. Children will learn skills including: Backwards mohawk turns, two foot stop in both directions, one foot jump gliding forward, fast backward/fast forward starts from back stop. Prerequisite Level 4.
