A man is expected to live after being stabbed in the chest in the Edmonds neighbourhood Tuesday night. The victim, a man in his late 30s, was stabbed once in the 7700-block of 18th Avenue, at Canada Way, at 10 p.m., said Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. Major John Buis. A woman, who was not involved, called 911. BC Ambulance took him to Royal Columbian Hospital in serious condition. While initially the injury was believed life-threatening, as of Wednesday morning, the man was expected to live, Buis said. Police were planning to interview the victim Wednesday to determine what happened and to get a description of the suspect. It’s possible that there is more than one suspect as two people were seen running away from the area. “We don’t know if they were both involved or just one,” Buis said. Investigators had yet to determine a motive or whether it was a random act. “We think it’s targeted, there’s no reason to believe it’s random.”
