Police: Robbery suspect picks ‘the wrong bank’ Officers close by when heavily armed man flees crime scene Alex BUTLER Abbotsford News

A man is facing charges after attempting to rob a bank in Abbotsford on Wednesday, where police happened to be in an unmarked vehicle in the same complex. Jesse Damond Morton, 37, of Vancouver, allegedly used a sledgehammer to break through the window of a TD branch on Whatcom Road after 7:30 a.m., before the

bank had opened, and demanded money. Const. Ian MacDonald said employees inside contacted police, who already had several units close by, including officers who were less than 100 metres from the bank. “If you want to talk about the person picking the wrong bank, it would be this guy.” Numerous Abbotsford police patrol division, bike squad and emergency response team officers descended on the area. Two officers saw

the man fleeing with a bag over his shoulder and quickly arrested him. Police found two loaded firearms on the man, including a handgun and an assault rifle. Morton has been charged with attempted robbery, break and enter, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and

Abbotsford parents Bob Allan and Jean King want their daughter Rosalie to know that they love her and they want her to call. Rosalie Allan, 46, was last seen in October in Abbotsford. She was reported missing on Dec. 31, 2013. “This investigation has troubled us from the stand that we haven’t received a lot of information,” said Abbotsford Police Department spokesperson Const. Ian MacDonald at a press conference Wednesday. Rosalie’s father, Bob, said that his daughter was in good spirits when she went missing.
