Welcome! Welcome to Downtown Courtenay WinterFest 2013! Downtown Courtenay is THE place to be this holiday season with 5 weekends of fun filled celebration for all ages! From choir and theatre performances and free kids arts and crafts to special dining events, shopping specials, music nights, walking tours, art exhibits, charity drives and craft fairs - there is goodwill, cheer and fun for everyone at Downtown Courtenay WinterFest! Don’t miss the big Moonlight and Magic kick off celebration Friday November 22 featuring magic, lights, fire and phenomenal specials that are here...and then they’re gone! The streets will be alive with special events, live music, Christmas shopping sales, kids craft activities and more. At 6 pm don’t miss the live fire dancing spectacle with Vesta Entertainment at 5th and England! Moonlight and Magic is also the kick off for the annual Walk the Windows event. Explore the beautiful seasonal window displays throughout downtown and vote for your favourite! Entry forms are available at all participating businesses and winners receive a shopping spree downtown! Kids can keep their eyes peeled for the little penguins in some of the window displays.

The first 2 weekends of Downtown Courtenay WinterFest are chocked full of activities! Nov 22-24th activities include Moonlight and Magic and the annual Comox Valley Christmas Parade. This weekend is all about getting into the spirit of the season! Friday Night come be part of a spectacle of light, fire and fun with great live music events!

Then on Saturday, visit activities ranging from the Comox Valley Farmers’ Market with special guest Luke Blu Guthrie to drop in crafts with Restless Raven Art Lab at the WinterFest Hub.

At 2 pm join us for the first free community concert at the WinterFest Hub with acclaimed Winnipeg songwriter JP Hoe. That night you can take in some great events including Matthew Good at the Sid Williams Theatre!

Nov. 29 & 30’s theme is the Great Outdoors! This is a fantastic weekend to explore businesses downtown that feature all the gear you’ll ever need for outdoor adventures all year ‘round. Whether you are looking for skis or snowboards, paddle boards or wet suits, you can find it downtown. Friday night you can take in the Banff Mountain Film Festival at the Sid Williams Theatre, then on Saturday visit the crew from Mount Washington Alpine Resort and enter to win lift passes and more. Just bring a donation for the food bank and drop it off at the Scotia Bank Plaza from 11am - 2 pm and be entered to win! Saturday’s kids activities at the WinterFest Hub from 11-2 focus on earth friendly art and crafts with Earth Art Studio. At 2 pm the Helen Austin Family Band serves up great music for all ages!

Delicious Downtown Tantalizing Tastes from Farm to Fork! December 6th and 7th experience great culinary adventures with samples from local shops and great gift options for your foodie friends. From chocolate and

treats, to teas, gift certificates, and kitchen gadgets, you can find the perfect gift! Local restaurants will be offering special fresh sheets that celebrate local farms and ingredients. Billy D’s, Zocalo Cafe and Union Street Grotto are offering live music events throughout WinterFest. It’s the perfect marriage of food and culture! Saturday you can sign up for a very special Food Tour leaving at 1:00pm from the Sid Plaza leading you on an adventure to restaurants and shops for a behind the scenes glimpse of some popular, and unexpected, foodie destinations. Walk on the Wild Side & ‘Twas the Night Before December 13th and 14th explore the wild side of Downtown Courtenay and Christmas gifts that are a little ‘outside the box’. Specialty shops in the downtown core offer unique items and services that can’t be found in their big box counterparts. Friday Night check out local film makers Fox & Bee for a special multimedia presentation at Union Street Grotto. If music is more your thing don’t miss the sultry and sexy Lounge Night at Billy D’s with the Jilli Martini band. If you’re looking for something more action packed the Sid is showing Warren Miller’s ‘Ticket to Ride’ part of a legendary film series that takes ski/snowboard fans on an action packed journey to some of the most exotic destinations in the world.

WinterFest A Seasonal Celebration in the Heart of Courtenay

Saturday the WinterFest Hub is offering craft action from 11 -2 and at 2 pm presents Captain Thunderpants and his holiday Christmas sing-along. This will be a fun show for the whole family. Relax, kick back and get into the mood with some hilarious and swashbuckling tunes from the Captain! Saturday is also the 2nd annual Elevate Winter Bazaar featuring edgy and unusual art and crafts from Valley artists. The lights will be dimmed in the belly of the Lower Native Sons Hall from 9-5 during the sale, workshops, delicious food from Tria Fine Catering, DJ’s and more! WinterFest wraps up with ‘Twas the Night Before on the weekend of December 20th and 21st. Carolers on the streets and offerings of hot chocolate or spiced apple cider from local restaurants. At 6 pm cyclists are invited to be part of a Imagine Comox Valley’s Winter Solstice Critical Mass Bike Ride leaving from the corner of 4th and Fitzgerald and testing out the new bike lanes on Fitzgerald!
