YOUR LEGACY | YOUR COMMUNITY Al and Betty Kronier moved to Richmond in 1952. They started a business, Brighouse Hardware, and watched it grow from one employee to 20. Al and Betty were humble, hardworking, and indeed, very successful. More than anything, though, they were committed to their community, and wanted to leave a legacy from which all of Richmond would benefit. And so the Kronier Family, including daughters Linda, The Kronier Family with Greg Buss, Chief Librarian of the Richmond Public Library, Kim, Lorraine, and Carolyn, established three funds and Sylvia Gwozd (far right), Chair of the Richmond Community Foundation. with the Richmond Community Foundation: the Al Kronier Endowment Fund, the Betty Kronier Endowment Fund, and the Kronier Family Scholarship Fund. Over the years, money granted from these funds - tens of thousands of dollars in total - has helped dozens of local students to continue their academic or vocational studies, and supported organizations as diverse as the BC Children’s Arts Festival, the Richmond Public Library, and Touchstone Family Association. Al is no longer with us, but Betty, Linda, Kim, Lorraine, and Carolyn are doing his memory proud with their ongoing and tireless philanthropic work. The Kronier Family has called Richmond home for over 60 years. By partnering with the Richmond Community Foundation, their legacy will live on forever.
