No you are not seeing double. We inset the picture of Conlan Sprickerhoff and Kallista Schick into the upper deck of the London double decker bus, one of the many amazing decorations for the City Nights Bright Lights 2013 Dry Grad Prom held at the Cariboo Memorial Complex last Saturday evening. They made it all the way to the top deck and have graduated in style thanks to many, many volunteers. Tara Sprickerhoff photos

Due to an increase in wildfire activity, B.C. sent firefighting personnel to the Yukon announced Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Minister Steve Thomson Wednesday. One agency representative, three initial attack crews from the Cariboo Fire Centre, four initial attack crews from the Prince George Fire Centre, one regional wildfire coordination officer from the Kamloops Fire Centre and one regional wildfire coordination officer from the Prince George Fire Centre were deployed. Initial attack crews travelled from Williams Lake to Prince George on Wednesday and then flew from Prince George to Whitehorse. This is the third out-of-province deployment this year. Current conditions in B.C. make it possible to share resources. The request for assistance was made through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre,. Deployment costs are covered by the receiving jurisdictions. There was one small wildfire of note caused by a lightning strike on Wednesday near Riske Creek. “An Initial Attack crew from Williams Lake attended to the fire and returned Thursday to execute mop-up on yet another ‘kick and spit.’ The tree that was hit burned itself out but crews actioned the site with water and hand tools, and will likely fall the dangerous broken-up tree today,” Cariboo Fire Information officer Greig Bethel said. “The Cariboo Fire Centre would like to alert the public to possible holdover wildfires from lightning strikes during the past few weeks. These holdovers, or sleepers, can sit within a tree or its roots system until drier, warmer weather and then reappear,” Bethel added.
