The Surrey Museum was transformed into a medieval Viking encampment for its Viking Invasion Feb. 16 (Saturday). The event celebrated the museum’s new feature exhibition, ‘Vikings: Master Mariners, Traders, Colonists and Artisans,’ which is on display now until April 13. Museum visitors were treated to historically outfitted members of the Reik-Felag Norse Culture Recreation Society, as well as traditional folk dances by touring dance troupe Poulsbo Leikarringen of Poulsbo, WA. The story begins three hours earlier, on one of the rainiest, wettest days of the new year. “It was a terrible day,” she remembers. “The rain was just pouring down. It was miserable.” It was about 3 p.m. when George noticed
