Why Hypnosis? Over time thoughts compound to create who we are mentally, emotionally and physically. To change who we are we must therefore change our thoughts; this creates change mentally, physically and emotionally. In order to create change ef¿ciently and effectively the part of the mind that drives thoughts, emotions and behaviors must be engaged. Hypnosis helps create change by engaging the part of the mind that drives mental and emotional patterns.

Pat’s Pet Care OUR PASSION, YOUR PETS

Pat Robinson, owner, pet stylist, worked in veterinary medicine as an Animal Health Technologist prior to establishing Pat’s Pet Care. Serving Camrose and area since 2003, an additional store opened in Stettler in 2010. “I am so fortunate my passion for animals is also my career and business”, says Robinson, who has been grooming dogs for about 18 years. They provide full grooming service for all dog breeds, including nail trimming and ear cleaning. Owners can rest assured their pets will receive the best care while they are there. Having seen first hand while in vet medicine, Robinson says, “Parvovirus and Distemper are heartbreaking diseases, that can be prevented.” This is why they require annual vaccinations be up to date. This year they became members of the Canadian Professional Pet Stylists Association which is a great source of support in the industry. “We are always participating in continuing education and upgrading our skills, learning new techniques” said Robinson who recently attended a conference in Edmonton. They are welcoming to their team, Tracy Fontaine, a Certified Groomer, who recently graduated from Alberta School of Dog Grooming. Tracy also obtained her Pet First Aid Certificate, combining with Robinson’s experience it is evident your pet’s health and well being is of great importance.

Providing Care for yourself or a loved on can easily cost $1250 a week or $65,000 a year. How would you cover this additional expense?

Option 1: Dip into your RRSP

Option 2: Take out a loan

Option 3: Purchase an annuity

Assuming a moderate marginal tax rate of 40%, covering a one-year, $65,000 care need would require a $108,000 withdrawal from your RRSP. $108,000 invested at 5% for 25 years would have grown to over $338,000.

Assuming you could secure a loan when you’re ill or injured, a $65,000, 10-year loan at 7% interest would require monthly payments of about $750. That’s $90,000 over 10 years.

Buying an annuity that would pay out $5417 a month ($65,000 a year) after tax for three years (you can’t buy an annuity for fewer than three years) would require an upfront sum of over $190,000

The cost of “dipping” into an RRSP • Can’t restore lost contribution room • Can’t replace the tax-deferred growth on these investments • Withdrawals attract tax at marginal tax rate

And you won’t be able to contribute this $750 a month into your savings. Investing $9,000 a year at 5% for 10 years translates into more than $247,000 after 25 years. This brings the potential total loss to over $337,000.

A five-year payout annuity would require more than $300,000

If you think these options are an expensive way to pay for care, you’re right. There is another way: use long term care insurance. Insurers can offer protection for a fraction of the cost an individual could incur if they personally had to pay for care they need without the benefit of having insurance. Depending on how you design your coverage, premiums for a plan that provides an income of $1,250 a week while you’re dependent can start as low as $50 a month for a 40-year-old. You can also choose a design that limits the length of time premiums are required.

Long term care insurance: A smart choice that could prevent the loss of your entire savings.

TEN YEARS OF METAL BUILDING SOLUTIONS If you’ve travelled the highways and bi-ways of Alberta, you have likely seen one of our buildings housing the very equipment that keeps our economy Ɵcking. Without these buildings, equipment would freeze or overheat, emit noise and toxic odors, and present a hazard to wildlife and people alike. Local employer METALEX does everything from design to fabricate to erect, or can provide Supply Only services. Our experƟse is in Self Framer, Foam Panel, Interlock and Hybrid systems for Industrial, Oil & Gas, Agricultural, Commercial and ResidenƟal applicaƟons, as well as Pre-Engineered Metal Building soluƟons. METALEX services all Western Canada and can export products inter-provincially or internaƟonally. For background, METALEX has been design/building metal buildings for 10 years and has tackled quite an array of projects. Here are some further facts about Metalex: - Founded in 2002 by Clay and Lorisa Brower - long term local farming heritage - 5 kids and way too many caƩle! - Design and Fab facility located in SteƩler - Alberta’s Oil & Gas Heartland - Recently opened a service facility in Edmonton - Services virtually all of Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and NWT - Staī located in SteƩler, Red Deer, Edmonton, Calgary - Design/build large and small industrial enclosures - Specializes in modular, mobile equipment staƟons - Municipal, residenƟal and agricultural structures - Provides engineered commercial buildings - CAN/CSA A660 cerƟĮed (Manufacturer of Steel Structures) ocaƟons applicaƟons - Averages over a thousand buildings per year, of various sizes, locaƟ ons and applicaƟ ons - Full capabiliƟes for self-framer and polyurethane foam panel steel buildings - InsulaƟng division for structures as well as vessels and piping projects - Family owned and operated business - Very community-oriented - Respected Safety and QC program

METAL BUILDINGS INC. METALEX prides itself on supporƟng local business. Our relaƟonships with many local business neighbors goes back to day one and has fostered a reliable supply chain that shows in our high-quality products and our admirable turn-around Ɵmes. With a very Ɵght supply-chain, we have created the ability to design/build smaller structures in a maƩer of only days. With crews based out of SteƩler, Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary, response Ɵmes for your metal building needs are oŌen a fracƟon of what would normally be expected. Travelling the province daily, we have skilled staī capable of responding to your needs on short noƟce noƟce. We also strongly support local causes - 4H, Ball associaƟons, Hockey leagues, schools, chariƟes, drives, marathons, walks, rodeos and more. We know that what goes around, comes around, and if we invest in our kids, our community can grow healthy, vibrant ciƟzens that make SteƩler an aƩracƟve place in which to seƩle. Further we have found another key to our success is through employing local skilled and non-skilled Further, labor. It can be a challenge to Įnd eīecƟve and dedicated labor in this Alberta economy, and Metalex is no excepƟon. However, the combinaƟon of our family-oriented atmosphere, the hard-work ethic prevalent in the region and our commitment to train and retain employees has proven to be a winning formula. In fact, some of our employees were here at the beginning and are sƟll happy to be here. With 65 employees and more demand for our products than we can handle, the search is always on for people with a strong work ethic, commitment to quality and a team approach to problem-solving. If you have some experience in basic construcƟon and a SteƩler work am! ethic, drop oī a résumé and you could join the Metalex team! Beyond metal buildings, the METALEX Field Services Group also he Įeld, and provides a wide range of services for buildings in the much of the equipment housed in them. Our Field Service teams are a giŌed lot with varied backgrounds from Oil n & Gas operaƟons, trades and equipment fabricaƟon backgrounds. Bring us your building problems, but don’t forget to challenge us with your heaƟng, cooling, venƟlaƟon and/or insulaƟon problems as well.

Facelift changes downtown Stettler business community By Richard Froese Stettler Independent

Change was fashionable for Stettler businesses in 2012. New was a common theme, with new businesses, new locations, new looks, new employees and new marketing strategies. “Locally, small- and medium-sized independent businesses collectively are our largest local and regional employer,” said Aubrey Brown, the executive-director of the Stettler Regional Board of Trade. “They are represented in every sector of our economy — retail, professional, manufacturing, construction, service and agriculture.” Downtown Stettler has seen many businesses coming and going. Industrially, Stettler Oil and Gas added more than 50 employees this past summer and fall, while other businesses are adjusting to meet the growing needs of the area. “Locally, we can make an extra effort to support local businesses,” Brown said. “Your endorsement of a local business can make a big difference.” More locally-based businesses and individuals are contractors, consultants, operators and agents, Brown

said. “Every dollar spent locally seems to help our community.” He suggested that businesses review their supply chains and shop locally when possible. Social media allows others to learn about Stettler-based businesses, Brown said. “If you get great products or service locally, let the business know, so they can share your comments with their customers.” Residents might also find there are more local businesses offering specialized products and services, he said. Lou’s Fashions women’s clothing store on Main Street closed its doors this summer after 57 years in business. Also closing were K.J. Casuals and Odds N Ends. The spacious Lou’s Fashions property was replaced with another women’s clothing store, Suzanne’s and Jenny’s. Renovations were underway in the old premises of Odd N Ends to make way for a larger location for Savage Drug Mart, which hopes to open before Christmas. Downtown business John’s Clothing and Shoes expanded its store and product lines. That third-generation family business was established 49 years ago. Corner Appliance closed

Suzanne’s and Jenny’s has moved into the spacious downtown location that had been occupied by another women’s clothing store, Lou’s Fashions, which closed this summer after 57 years in Stettler.

in the summer after 33 years at the northeast corner of 49 Avenue and 51 Street and became the new home for Cas Tech and Town Trophy and the Thrive 300 personal training and weight-loss centre. After just four years in business locally, the Bargain

Shop plans to close its doors this December. While major grocery outlet Sobeys continues its interior facelift, Red Deer Co-op is building a Stettler convenience store, gas bar and car wash on Highway 12 at the corner of 62 Street.
