Raku Firing with Linda Doherty 12n oon-2pm Linda Doherty leads participants thro ugh the process of embellishing raku tea bowls. Return on Sunday, Septemb er 30 for an explanation of the Japanese tea ceremony and its cultu ral significance.

A day dedicated to the art of Linocut. Linocut is a printmaking technique derived from woodcut, in which ima ges are created by cutting into a linoleum surface with a sharp knif e, V-shaped chisel or gouge. To make a print, the carved linoleum shee t is inked with a brayer, and then impressed onto paper or fabric. If you ’re a fan of printmaking this is not to be missed. » Hundreds of Linocut prints are on display and on sale by local artists including: Heather Aston, Richard Tetr ault, Gary Sim, Pat Beaton, Hannah Bennett, James Mah, Carolyn Mount, Alexa Thomas, Kelly Hayden, Susan Gransby and Nic Vandergugten. » Free artist talks and demos through out the day with; Nic Vandergugten, Gary Sims, Susan Gransby, Torrie Gro ening and Avis Rasmussen. » Free Family Drop-in printing project with Printmaker Hannah Bennett. These four young East Vancouver musicians are now recording their debut album, but have played together for four years at shows all over Vancouver. It’s a mad world of aerials, acrobatics and brain-teasing visuals that you don’t want to miss.

Nature Alight Community Project with artist Nicole Dextras Nicole Dextras is a local environmental artist and a member of the Artisland Network. Participate in free workshops led by the artist to make leaf lanterns to add to an outdoor chandelier which will be lit on Saturday, September 29 between 5-7pm.

Witness one concept through the eyes of seven top-tiered artists from a variety of disciplines and see it come to life, seven different ways, in only seven days. They‘ll go from inspiration to creation in just 168 hours with no limits except the 14 minute performance time.
